^^ Could i check if 4s, 4t-3t, 3a....if he missed the 3t in first combo he cannot insert anywhere?

If the layout is 4t-3t, 4s, 3a ...if he missed the 3t in first combo can he insert a 3t or 2t as combo with 4s?

I wondered why he chose to do 4s, 4t-3t/3a instead of 4t-3t, 4s/3a. The second layout allows him to add 3t after the 4s if he misses the combo in the first jump. Both layouts have two quads in the first half and the same BV, but the second layout is safer than the first one. The only explanation I can come up with is that he will eventually move 4t-3t to the 2nd half when he becomes more comfortable with the 4t-3t in competition. That's why he is practicing the first layout now.

or maybe the reason is that ridiculous that it doesn't fit the program composition to open with combo :hb:

That's a plausible idea. I think it may also be that 4S is more difficult for him and he wants to get it out of the way first (it has always been the first jump in his programs). Here perhaps because he needs to do it out of steps as well, so it's extra difficult.

He already made a big change to the whole layout. So the new layout is already not the best fit to the choreography. He is very points-oriented. He changed the SP layout in order to get more points. He also changed the stsq in the LP in order to receive a higher level. I don't see a better fit of choreography would be a reason for him to not consider switching the order of jumps if the new order allows him to collect more points.

Maybe. 4S has been the more consistent quad lately. I don't know which jump is more difficult for him, 4S out of step or 4t-3t combo? I think he does 4t-3t out of steps too. (I'm not sure about this actually. But he has been practicing 4t-3t out of steps.) They are probably equally difficult for him. I wouldn't be surprised if he moves 4t-3t to the second half in the near future. One of his goals this season is to land quads in the second half.

Oh have been praying since I learned of the two-quad SP. Today is the feast day of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal so will pray Yuzuru has a "miracle on ice" moment. Go Yuzu!

Welcome back Maria, its been a while since your last post right?!

Thanks Matmuh! Yes, lots have happened since and I will have to read many, many posts in this thread to catch up.

Anyway, really hoping and praying for the best for Yuzuru. I think he relishes the upcoming quad duel with Boyang. Hope he doesn't get too excited like he did at Skate Canada and focus on the task (skate) at hand. I believe he can do it!

Lots of press-con and practice footage from this wonderful poster on dailymotion

If my Japanese is correct, according to this article, he decided to have 2 quads in the SP before the gala at SC (thus the famous practice off the side ;) ) and Orser was surprised but they started practicing right away. They also asked him/mentioned Boyang's 4lz. Hanyu-san said "That was wonderful. 4lz is not an easy jump. However, skating is not about difficulty of jumps. I am me." He said with a smile.

Oh,my...how many news:shocked: two quads:eeking:...and I won't be able to watch it :palmf: (in the middle of an exam) I want to cry

Because he's Yuzuru Hanyu.
Go Yuzu! You do you~

Now excuse me while I deal with my panic attack symptoms. Need to be calm, positive and supportive for the actual competition. :hap10:

This all makes me regret skipping the Skate Canada gala practice more and more!! Would have been amazing to see live.
