I am so late to the celebration due to VERY (Terrible) week for me. BUT OMG Yuzuru went clean in both program and all the execution is just perfection! I have to admit I totally chickened out when I found out he's changing the layout to 2 quads. It was such a risky decision! I guess it is Yuzuru afterall, Yuzuru who weak at easy thing and stronger at harder stuff :laugh2:

SP: That quad salchow could be a thing of beauty once he perfected the entrance and landing. I am feeling scared even as I'm typing this because he already scored 106!! how high can he go!:drama: Execution of every element is just close to perfection and I especially love the new spin replacing the moment of beat formerly 3lz-3t. The quality is just exquisite!

FS: Suffice to say my sister did not survive from me slapping her arms everytime Yuzuru lands his jump perfectly. I couldn't stop screaming and could hardly believe my eyes when I saw the score!! Even now I still couldn't believe it when I see it! Its simply breathtaking performance. Just I have no words to describe this. It is such an honor to be a fan of such great skater!

Btw... I've found Universal Sports commentary Yuzuru's SP video but couldn't find FS one~ I heard Tanith commentary is very well done so I want to watch it. If anyone has it... yoroshiku! :o:

Yuzu Seimei Behind The Scenes
There was a Behind the Scenes show today featuring most of the members of Team Japan that went to the GP series so far. There was some new footage of Yuzu being fitted for his costume and doing Choreo with Shae Lynn as well as doing music editing! It showed again his interview with Mansai-san and his FS at Skate Canada.
Here it is: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3dwdak_2015-11-15-究極プログラム制作の裏側_sport

About the music editing, he said he needed to add .8 seconds to the note so as to make it easier to jump.

- Translated by Yuzuland the Yuzu & Mansai part
Mansai: “Does [the name of the programme SEIMEI] has a double meaning of Abe no Seimei and Seimei (meaning life)?”
Yuzuru: "Yes"

- Partial translation by Yuzusorbet of the Behind the Scenes Seimei video.

- Also the step sequence in SEIMEI is based on the fight scene between Abe no Seimei and Douson in Onmyouji (the fight scene showed @6.36min)

- The first few versions of the original step sequence

- Hand washing etiquette at Japanese shrine by Yuzuru Hanyu. I google translated the tweet.
" Method of the water basin is almost perfect, I was surprised.
① Hand wash, scooping up water in a ladle.
②, Wash the right hand move the ladle.
③ Once again move the ladle, pour the water in the Palm of his left hand, rinsing the mouth.
④ Hand wash.
⑤ Ladle vertically to shed water and wash the handle of the ladle."

- Some screen shots and short clips from the video. Looks like the fitting is for the Seimei 1.0 costume (summer ice shows version).

Interviews

At Cup of China 2015, I had the chance to do an interview with Brian Orser, the coach at Cricket Club, for SkatingChina.com. Below is the link of the English version and hope you'll enjoy it.

Highlights: training methods and timetable at Cricket, Orser's notion of a good skater, funny anecdotes of the skaters.

https://skatingchina.com/2015/11/brian-orser-we-all-speak-the-language-of-figure-skating-english/

And one anecdote, just for fun: I asked Brian if the cartoonish tissue boxes had become an emotional bond of his skaters, and he said, 'Javi and Nam do it just for fun. I think they want to play a trick on me. But Yuzu is quite serious with that.'

The Sendai Subway Tozai Line news shared by Echo Cheng @YHIFG FB.
The Sendai Subway Tozai Line is scheduled to open on 6 December 2015. Today, Sendai city government hosted a celebration event at one of new stations, Kokusai-Center station and presented a series of messages from Sendai celebrities. Two Olympic champions from this city are invited to send their cheering messages.

Yuzu: Let's brighten the Sendai City with all lines of metro.
Arakawa: Sendai leads in a new Line.

ps.
(1) Tozai Line means west-east line. It is abbreviated as "WE".

Lens have changed my photograph. In December issue of Digital Camera Magazine (Japanese edition), Noto-san released an article about how to take pictures at figure skating competitions & ice shows. He always uses Canon EF400mm F2.8 to take those pictures. Thank to weibo uploader. source: http://goo.gl/1CKeuI

TV Programs
Another Episode of Kiritoru TV. These guys really love Yuzu, he gives them so much material.

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3f0i08_151122-キリトルtv_sport

Japan Nationals 2013, Finlandia 2012 and other behind the scenes clips.

It includes many episodes of Yuzu. They highly praise him for his very polite behavior.
The first one is very funny. Akiko, Mao and Kanako almost or completely forgot to bow to the audience, but nineteen-year old Yuzu didn't!
さすが!How nice of him!

I'm also happy to see Yuzu mending a surface of the rink in Finlandia trophy in 2012, which I had only seen in my PC.

From WC2012 Gala practice
Yuzu and Kanako dancing Marumaru Morimori which is a dance originally by two little kids from a famous TV drama.

According to this article Yuzuru changed his plan for his SP.....and he will go for 2 quad. Summary of the last part of the article I did on the Facebook group : After the first GP of the season, he decided to increase the level of difficulty of his SP, and he plans to do 4S, 4T3T and 3A in NHK.

Just wanted to post these fanvids here one more time of Yuzu practicing his quads with new entrance during the SC gala rehearsal:
spread eagle-4S-spread eagle
spread eagle-4T-spread eagle
longer vid of him practicing his jumps

bonus: long gala rehearsal practice video (if this helps to cheer you up a bit)

During the gala practice, we thought he was just practicing these jumps for fun....but in hindsight, he's probably working on his new jump layout for the next competition already, which matches to what the news article is saying.

I wonder if anyone is interested in a screenplay of what happened after the NHK Gala.

[After the NHK Gala, the screen changes into a scene inside an airplane; view of the first class cabin during night flight; rather dark with a few reading lights turned on.]

[Camera zooms to a aisle seat; reading light illuminates a young Chinese boy.]

Boyang Jin: (In Mandarin) What should we do now?

[Camera pans to the window seat beside Boyang; a man in the dark hands a piece of paper to Boyang. Boyang unfolds the paper.]

[Camera zooms to what is written on the paper: Quad Axel] (dramatic music)

Mysterious figure: (In Russia-accented English) Quadruple Axel. (dramatic music)

[Camera shows Boyang's face giving a shocked expression.]

[Camera zooms out of Boyang and mysterious figure, angles to the seats behind them which shows a hidden Miki Ando feeding her daughter with mashed carrots. Miki Ando looks shocked!] (dramatic music)

Subtitle appears: TO BE CONTINUED...

[Scene flashbacks to the podium showing Yuzuru and Boyang. Camera pans to the spectators and focused on a tall blonde man with an egg-shaped head wearing sunglasses. (dramatic music) Credits roll.]

I don't know for sure, but didn't Yuzu get the flu sometime during/after 2013 4CC? The Olympics he actually did well for all his SP, but I think the pressure and the late schedule for the men after the SP made everyone tired. 2015 WC... well that was more health related and lack of training time.

That's not always true... he came in 3rd at his first worlds without going to 4cc (last competition was nationals)... the year he went to 4cc before worlds (2013), he underperformed (at least for his standards) at worlds. I honestly believe it would be a lot better for Yuzuru to rest after nationals and train in preparation for worlds instead of going to 4cc.

Yuzuru did under-perform at 2012 WC. His SP was not good. Fortunately he fought back in the LP. But his overall performance at 2012 WC was worse than his 2011 GPF and National performances.

He was sick at 2013 4CC, but he was also sick at 2012 GPF, yet his performance at 2012 GPF was much better than his 2013 4CC performance.

He had a good SP at the Olympics, but his LP at the Olympics was not good. He did get some competition experience at the team event (short program only) before the individual competition at the Olympics. I do think his team event experience helped him to perform his SP well at the individual competition.

At 2015 WC, he didn't have enough training. But he could land all the jumps in practice just before the competitions and he watered down the content. The mistakes on the 4t (step out and fall) were due to his ankle not fully healed. But the pop of 4S was a mental mistake because he hesitated before he jumped. The pop of 4S was what costed him the gold, not the fall on the 4t (because Javi also fell). So I do think it was his mind that was not ready, more than his body.

Every athlete has health/injury related problem. Yuzu's health problems are not more severe than other athletes'. (He is physically not a weak person.) He is a top athlete. He can't and he doesn't use health reasons to justify his sub-par performances.

Also, I don't believe anyone is born with nerves of steel. Athletes are humans and humans have emotions and weaknesses. Humans need to personally go through the hardships, setbacks, difficulties and trauma to mentally grow stronger and more mature (to handle the increasing pressure/expectation). Nobody can become mentally strong by living a comfortable life with no hardships. His last season may be seen by many people as bad or unfortunate, but I actually see it as a great opportunity for him to mature and become mentally stronger. I'm glad he didn't let that opportunity go wasted.

There are 1.5 months between National and 4CC and another 1.5 months between 4CC and world. That's plenty of time of rest and training. He only had 3-4 weeks of training between Skate Canada and NHK. I think 1.5 months is long enough to prepare for a high level competition.

The thing is there are costs and benefits associated every decision. Every individual makes his/her decision weighing the costs and benefits associated with the decision. The problem is many people see 4CC as a lesser competition. People don't see much value in competing at 4CC. So the extra travel and fatigue becomes a big cost. If the decision maker sees no value in 4CC, then the cost will outweigh the benefit.

I'm sure if European Championship is held in Asia, nobody will skip Euro no matter how far away the host country is and how tired he/she is due to the travel because everybody sees Euro as a prestigious competition. (But 4CC in the recent years has a deeper men's field than Euro even if the competition is perceived as less prestigious. The men's field in Euro has been very weak for many years. Winning in a deep field is more meaningful and shows the skaters' skills much more than winning in a weak field.) If the Olympics is held in Asia and WC is held in North America 1.5 month after the Olympics, I'm sure nobody will skip the Olympics in order to prepare for the WC. They will skip the WC after the Olympics because the Olympics is more prestigious.

Many people see the time and location of 4CC as a disadvantage. But IMO, the time and location of 4CC is the best value of 4CC. Yes, 4CC is far away from the USA and Canada and it is held between National and WC. NA Skaters will be more tired due to the long travel and jet lag, but they have to go through the same tiredness and jet lag when they go to Korea for the next Olympics. 4CC maybe the best practice competition for the next Olympics, not to mention the 2017 4CC will be held in Korea.

Can you give link ? I only saw universal HD with Ryan Bradley commentary

About 4CC, they must be carefull. If this will not affect his health, I guess go for it. But injuiry free before Worlds is the key and I hope with their experience from past years..... they make better job this season, because it's waste of his talent getting injuired right before Worlds

Dutch eurosport gala comments (this time the full version):

Yuzuru Hanyu skated the competition of his life here. Both his programs scored big world records, and he passed the 300 points as first man ever, thus taking over the world record from the Canadian Patrick Chan.
Olympic champion Yuzuru Hanyu is now officially the best figure skater ever. I think the programs skated here at Nagano will stay in the history books for a long time, and remain long in people's minds (more literally, in their eyes), and will often be viewed back on youtube. He really wrote history, 27 points higher than the world record held by Patrick Chan, first man over the 300 points barrier, 322, which at the start of the season nobody would have believed possible, 3 quad jumps in his LP, 2 3As, difficult combinations, and all that connected beautifully with gorgeous transitions, beautiful choreography.
And of course Hanyu comes back for an encore to say thank you to the audience, who have been so supportive of him the whole weekend. He'll do a part from his LP.
Yuzuru Hanyu. And if you missed this LP yesterday, do check it out in the repeat, check your TV guide, or if you can't, check it out on the internet, and definitely watch the GPF in two weeks' time, where all the men will be battling it out. At SA Hanyu lost against Patrick Chan , but if Hanyu can keep this form, then Patrick Chan won't be able to match him (literally: then also Patrick Chan won't be able to do it), but who knows, maybe this has woken them all up.

Note: these Dutch commentators really are very "casual" about it all. We have a saying here, "Behave normally, then you already behave crazy enough", which just really comes to mind when I listen to these people. I'll take the British enthusiasm over these two, any day.

Just saw this, not sure if this has been posted.

An out of this world Yuzuru Hanyu broke record after record in Nagano

http://www.insideskating.net/2015/1...uru-hanyu-broke-record-after-record-in-nagano

I just remember how, a few weeks ago, some people were a bit upset that Yuzu had not received a single 10 this season in PCS...and now well...he's the one who has received the most and in just a single competition! I thought it was really cute that, what really seemed to surprise him were the PCS. If I'm not mistaken, he said "97!" when he crouched to look at the scores. 16 tens! I guess also a record for the men? Patrick got 11 at TEB 2013...
Thank you for sharing this :)
