People are saying that Yuzu’s family crest looks like originated from The Azai clan (浅井氏 Azai-shi), which was a line of daimyo (feudal lords) during Japan’s Sengoku period that was based in Ōmi Province (present day Shiga Prefecture).


The Azai clan, along with the Asakura clan, opposed Oda Nobunaga in the late 16th century. They were defeated by him at the Battle of Anegawa in 1570, and all but eliminated when their home castle, Odani Castle, was taken three years later.

If so, Yuzu and Nobu (descendent of the Oda family) really have a long story to tell.

I'm not sure about Azai Clan things. It seems even commoners including merchants and farmers had their family crests already in Edo period. Except for some crests for high ranks such as royal family, which was prohibited for others to use, I don't think there was any strict authority to control other ones. Actually, my parents' family crest is Chigai Takanoha (Crossing pair of hawk feathers) and their ansestors were farmers for generations, and my husband's family crest is Daki Myoga (Pair of Japanese gingers), and he says his ansectors were Shinto priests, but I have never seen any evidence such as a pedigree so far

Hanyu family might be related to Azai Clan, but it might not be. They may have something to tell their family history, but I don't know.

Speaking of family crests, I remember watching a Mother's Day program featuring Nobu and his mother. Mrs. Oda said that as a young bride she was scolded for a flower arrangement that she made. Why? It included the bellflower (kikyo), the family crest of Akechi Mitsuhide, the traitor who led the rebellion against Nobunaga.

Hopefully Nobu's wife made no such mistake.

I have a very personal best moment from NHK. Yuzuru made my husband a fan again. Now, my husband again calls Yuzuru "my son" and we enjoy watching his super human performances together, yay .

WOW!!! The Chinese are amazing! Its impressive especially since the SP counted the 3lz-3t instead of the 4s

Im not sure if anyone posted this but I love the male commentator for RAI Sports! Even though I had no idea what he was saying he sounded so excited

Isn't crazy to think that Yuzu's 4S has a higher consistency than his 4T now! He also landed 10/13 quads in 3 competitions alone! Way better than his 7/18 last season (yes I know he was injured but still!) If Yuzu goes to bare minimun this season meaning adding GPF, NAT, and Worlds and keeps his current layout, he would have attempted 28 quads!

The same person made a prediction of the next stage With 5 Quads in the FS, 340 points total.
Who knows, maybe it will come true as well.
