Yuzuru Hanyu: 2015-16 Season

Maybe my reaction comes from also watching the video itself and seeing his face/tone of voice as he said the line. It really looked like he was (putting himself) under a lot of pressure, and at a loss for what to do - rather than saying the quoted phrase in a determined way. He himself says that "More than winning 3 times, the pressure of my own points is too strong." (quoted from Interspectator's translation)

To me he did not seem excited at all.

Of course, I am speaking as a worried fan as well so I am biased :) But his face and tone really worried me there, lol.

I see that he is grounded and not complacent with his achievements. He is aware of the increasing expectations. But he sets goals to the expectations. It is difficult to have a better LP performance than the NHK LP performance, but I think it's possible to have performances with similar quality in the future. There is certainly room for improvement for the SP. I'm pretty sure he will move the 4t-3t to the 2nd half of the SP. If he doesn't break the WR with the current layouts of SP and LP, he will try to break the WR with a more difficult layout, i.e. add 4Lo to the programs, maybe even a 4-quad LP. I think a 4-quad LP before the Olympics is a possibility now since he has already done clean 3-quad LP and he may see the 4-quad LP as the new motivation.

No, that's not Shun Sato. I don't know his name but those boys and girls are skaters from the local Nagano skating fed.

I have many favorite moments but one of them is him being too excited to speak properly during the interview after his FS. He mispronounced some words and called Nagano, "Nagoya" and wasn't his usual eloquent self which was funny to see for a change.

According to a TV show I was watching yesterday about Yuzuru, one judge (female, non-Japanese) was crying after Yuzuru's FS score was out. A figure skating journalist saw it and said that she's never seen a judge cry before.

Also, found these reports from a person who went to see NHK Trophy. She was sitting next to the reserved seats for skaters/coaches and said that Meagan/Eric were sitting there and leaning forward as though they were studying him (they also did this for Boyang's 4Lz). Alexa/Chris and Vaness/Morgan and all the coaches came to watch him and they shouted in excitement every time he landed his jumps. Elladj looked like he was praying. Everyone started shouting before Yuzuru finished and gave him a standing ovation. After he finished, they started to predict the score.
At the medal ceremony, Boyang kept on looking at Yuzuru and was smiling the whole time. He must have been happy to stand on the podium with Yuzuru.
Do you have the name of the tv programme??? Or the link??
I also want to watch the Onmyoji movies so bad since NHK, I looked everywhere and did not find any version with English subs, not even on Youtube. Did you manage?

Also my first post on this thread, I read this from time to time and it's amazing how captivating he is! I remember him since Junior Worlds 2009 and was really impressed on seeing him with such presence and a 3A at age 14. The ESP commentators in my country back then named him as something very very special and even though he finished below top 10 they made a special mention to his performance. (To this day they are still huge fanladies) What a long way he's come! I hope he stays healthy and that he doesn't psyche himself too much to beat his record. Hoping for good performances at NHK!
Welcome!!!

What a wonderful weekend for Yuzu and his team. I loved every moment and I'm very glad I got up at 4 am to see it...I haven't done that for an athlete for ages. So memorable for skating fans.

However, his next task is very close: the GPF. After such a weekend of high emotions, and more press afterwards which can be draining, it would be natural for him to have a bit of a letdown at the GPF. I don't know if he stayed in Japan, or went back to Toronto, but getting back to training right after that to get ready for the GPF could be difficult....or he could ride that high right into Barcelona because the events are so close, who knows. I know, though, that he's a real competitor, he'll be as ready as he can be, especially with a fresh challenge ahead of him (beating Patrick/Javi). I can hardly wait to see what happens!!

What a treat we're going to have from Barcelona!!

Yea right! Its so draining to be excited like for a whole week end! You know, I got fever and flu because of over excitements lols, truly literally a hanyu fever hahas!

I just realized that during his step sequence in the free, the string that was suppose to hold down his sleeve came right off and he had to take a moment to fix it. He did a good job turning that into choreography. I didn't even catch him doing that.

Where?? I totally missed it!!!

Clearly shows that I've been watching his performance WAY TOO MUCH for me to catch something like that. I need to calm myself down

There's way too many new's clips to go through but here's a screencap of that segment w/ the judge in tears. :)

:reye: Eagle's eye!

I didn't notice the fixing of sleeve until you point it out, but I noticed a slight different in the execution of the step to the beat after that moment....must be because he was fixing the sleeve a second before that which made that execution slightly different.

I've watched his program lots of times but didn't realize about it! :points:

A fan managed to take a picture of the SO from skaters/coaches after he landed his lutz

"OK, in this case, please make the setting 'a person of double personality'."

"Choose!? Do you mean I have to choose!? It's.....something like 'Dead or Alive'...."
