a) A quint would probably also be pre-rotated about 1/4 rotation, and
b) If anyone ever succeeds, it probably won't be one of the current "best jumpers".
There you are... that's how it will happen, if it ever happens.
Plenty of mileage and untapped potential left in quads though.
I don't think anyone is seriously considering quints yet.
When you couldn't do full 4 rotations on the air, how can you do 4 and 3/4 rotations??
We need someone who is very muscular and strong like Yagudin so they can jump very high like 70-80 cm on the air but at the same time they have to be very very thin and not so tall like Boyang with insane rotation speed.
There is a trade off in this. You want to jump higher you have to be muscular and very strong (think of Yagudin at his prime) but when you're that big you can't rotate as fast (as someone so thin as Boyang). There is no way for Boyang to jump as high as Yagudin at his prime because he isn't such of a powerful man. And there is no way for Yagudin to rotate as fast as Boyang because he's like twice bigger.
The boots and blades could be improved for better jumps, but when will we see such development? Coaches and skaters have done everything within their ability at the moment and we still haven't seen any 4A. I don't see a quint possible with the current technology.

So theoretically, the highest achievable TES for jump layout for the current generation is:

4Lz
4Lz + 3T
4F
4F + 3Lo
4Lo
4S
4T
3A + 1Lo + 3Lz

7 quads and 4 triples.

This layout has high risk of zayak. If he triples any of 4Lo or 4T, he would zayak.

By the way, just want to ask you guys if anyone has come across Briancam for NHK and GPF. I don't think I have seen any Briancam for the whole programme. There used to be Briancam when he was with Yuna. They would show the SP/LP with Brian Orser in the thumbnail reacting.

It is especially a 'travesty' in NHK because Japan is notorious in having TV programs where there is a thumbnail of some celebrity reacting to the ongoings of the TV show.

It's not that simple...

Just because Yagudin had big jumps, it doesn't mean everyone must be shaped like Yagudin to have big jumps.

Power-to-weight ratio is a more important measure than specific body shape or size for jump height: A light body has less muscle, but then - being lighter, it doesn't need as much muscle to lift it. And a slim buld definitely helps with rotation speed.

Athletic high-jumpers are not heavily built, yet they can do huge jumps.
Gymnasts too. They are lean and wiry, not heavily built... and they can do huge jumps too.

A candidate for a quint jump would probably look like Bruce Lee :-D

Usain Bolt was once considered "too tall" by commentators and experts, to be a top sprinter.
He had the "wrong" body shape... Until he proved everybody wrong...!

Ironically Bruce Lee's height and weight are almost the same as Yuzuru with Yuzuru being lighter than about 3-4 kgs.
:eeking: don't tell me....

The writing on Yuzuru's training shirt

At the Grand Prix final Yuzuru had something written on the back of one of his training shirts (Like last year's "Conquer Myself!!"). I didn't notice until reviewing my photos, and I didn't get a clear shot of it...

THIS is the best I got.
It looks like three words but I can't make them out.

Something like "for f__cher __lution !!" ?
Or maybe "far f__cher __lution !!" ?
Not really sure, and can't guess what letters to fill the gaps.

Anyone know what it says?

I actually much prefer the look of Plushenko's jumps back in his heyday and definitely Yuzu's now. Yuzu probably has my favorite jumps in terms of beautiful in air rotation.

For further evolution  I love that he has his training outfits customized.

Yuzu being followed by his fans. Sorry if already posted.

Why do I feel this sudden urge to write off-screen commentary for a nature documentary.......

The Fanimals most commonly gather in hunting groups of about 3 to 400 individuals. When stalking their prey, they coordinate with a highly evolved and encoded communication method by emitting various sound combinations, not unlike the common vowel sound system. In an attempt to irritate and confuse their prey, they send out sudden and irregular flashes of light. The Fanimals are known to cover great distances when tracking down and subsequently closing in on their prey.

:scard8:
sorry

I DID THE SAME THING!! "Yuzuru fans in their natural habitat, circling the prey"
