Yes, he was tired, it was his third consecutive competition, he is a human and doesn't need to be perfect all the time, he even might have had a small injury. Yes, they all are right and he still managed to win with a good margin. Yes, I know it all. Then, why am I so down? :sad21:

1st of all, Congratulations for your 4th consecutive win Yuzuru!! :cheer: When was the last time it happened? Or has it ever happened?
What happened today was Yuzuru messing up enough to win and to keep himself motivated for worlds at the same time and reminder that his body is his treasure and he needs to take care of it (but i have 100% confidence that he learnt his lesson). I am sure Brian will talk to him and make him feel better, learn from mistakes but not to be too upset about them
And now the big question, which EX number will we see? Will there be colloboration with Satoko?

Tomorrow morning, Yuzu should have a conference with the jumps. Those that were disloyal to him should be excommunicated.

"Listen all of you jumps. You need to realize who is your master. If it is not because of me, no one would talk about you in the newspaper, television or golden skate forum. SP quad salchow, you think you are being funny? I am sending you to North Pole and you can stay there during winter. I am replacing you with quad loop. LP second quad toe, you can go to South Pole. I am gonna replace you with quad loop. LP first triple axel, I will give you another chance. The rest of you better buck up. No jumping food for you."

Omg I can picture him doing that, lmao

it's happened plenty of other times, even though less than what one would expect (many skater that would dominate their competition like takeshi honda often skipped nationals altogether)...

The current record holder for number of consecutive japanese nationals championship is Nobuo Sato with 10 consecutive wins... A record that probably not even Yuzu will be able to break

Congrats to our dear Yuzu on his Japanese title!:hap10:

Yes, it wasn't his best performance, but it was enough and he should be very proud. It was unrealistic to expect him to repeat the performance levels he achieved at NHK and GPF for a third time in a matter of weeks. I've often wondered why these championships are held in December right after the GPF rather than wait until January like the American and Canadian Nationals. Maybe the Japanese posters out there have an answer to this.

I wonder when he will return to Toronto? Hopefully it will be soon after New Year's so he can get out of the media spotlight, rest appropriately, and focus on his training for Worlds.

We're PROUD of you Yuzu!! :luv17: See you in a few months in Boston!!! :hap85:

He won't come back here until after those shows in January. But yeah, I hope he returns mid January after having gotten some rest. Training in Toronto is probably a bit of an escape from all the extras he has to deal with as a major star at home. He returned at the end of September this fall and was able to train enough to do *rather well* lol, so I"m sure that's enough time for training going in to Boston. Toronto and Boston are in the same time zone, so that's a small benefit too.

I'm not a Japanese poster but from what I know January is generally where the mid season ice show takes place. The first week of January usually kicks off with a team competition as a New Year tv special (Japan Super Challenge) followed by the Nagoya skating festival the day after.

The JSC show stopped last year while the Nagoya fest still went on, as the Nagoya skating festival has a much longer history, but it seems that there is no Nagoya festival scheduled in Jan 2016 as well. (ETA: I finally come across information on the Nagoya Festival for 2016, there hasn't been much news about it yet, I couldn't even find it on the deep-edge site but indeed there will be a Nagoya Festival on Jan 5, 2016.)

The SOI tour is generally held in January other than the Olympic year, this year (as in 2016) it's been pushed back to April but we have the newly added New Year on Ice (both are IMG ice shows).

Ice shows scheduled for Jan 2016:
Jan 5 - Nagoya Festival (Kozuka, Mura, Satoko, Kanako, Rika) [ETA on 12/28]
Jan 9 - NHK Trophy Exhibition (Yuzuru, Mao)
Jan 16, 17 - New Year on Ice (Yuzuru, Shoma, Satoko)
Jan 23, 24 - Prince Ice World (Shoma, Dice, Kanako)
* I've only listed the senior skaters that are actively competing for Japan

I don't really see JSF pushing back the nationals any time soon. And for Yuzuru even he can get a bye from nationals, I suspected he will still want to participate and defend his national champion title. I think this is a pretty big deal for the Japanese skaters.

So all I can hope for is that he learns from this experience and continue to improve his conditioning strategy. And perhaps JSF can fight for an earlier GP date for NHK in 2017!?

Yuzu made a phone call to Russia this morning:

"Evgenia darling, this morning, I was looking through my special jump box and saw your note that you 'borrowed' one quadruple salchow, one quadruple toe and one triple axel. Please return them as soon as possible. You don't need those jumps but I need them."

E: ......

"No, you can't borrow them to do for fun during practice. Please send them back via Fedex."

E: ......

"No, you can't borrow the quad loop for fun either."

Can I just reiterate for a moment how gorgeous those 2 quads were? 4S was gone for only a day and came back strong! It was obviously fatigue that got to him in the 2nd half (I felt he was even dragging his feet a bit) so I feel zero worry really. Most of the guys did not do their best either, including those who went through the GP series/final.

Since Hanyu-san seem to love music a lot, I hope he has a good time at Kouhaku!

This video contain a no cut FS and a little bit of backstage (Shoma, Kozuka, and Mura sitting side by side watching Hanyu-san's performance) and also right after FS K&C where he said "we can do the hard work after this..." and Brian said "this is not a bad thing, you can't be that great all the time." The interviewer also asked him about 4lo and the chance of doing it this season, he said he does want to do it :eeking:, but it depends on how the practice goes from now on.

:palmf: So all it needs for him to finally take a rest is for someone to, like, handcuff him to a bed or something?!?! Or maybe footcuff him for all I care, then he still has both hands free to play his video games, but he can't run off to crazy jump practice :hopelessness: although I wouldn't put it past him to try to put on his skates while still having a bed attached to his ankles :rolleye:

I don't see the possibility of JSF pushing back the Nationals. I do hope NHK gets a different time slot for the next two GP seasons: it doesn't have to be the last GP event. I remember years ago when we had NHK as the first GP event.
