I thought that donut was edited later but they actually made her wear it for real
"Ok Shizuka, here's what we want you to do: You just have to skate around and look gorgeous."
" :agree2: "
"And keep this giant donut in your mouth the whole time."
" :roll9: "
"This is going to be great."
" :con3: "
"Don't worry, if you can't keep a straight face and the donut keeps falling out of your mouth, we have some frosting here and can just glue it to your teeth. Strawberry flavor!"
" :slink: "

poor Shizuka :noshake:

SP 120....thats a mark he is setting for himself ?
Japan nationals cm Hanyu eating Ghana chocolate and doing a 4 Lo ... maybe I should try with my 2 Lo...you shouldn't eat too much sugar during training, I know.
I guess when he said 120 he sort of given away a new figure he's looking at. Rememebr when Brian told him "you're looking at 111 now" and that it was impossible to reach that 3 times per one month, unrealistic. But I'm sure he wants more now. So yeah- that is his new target.:agree:
As per eating chocolate- Stephane Lambiel used to say that Swiss chocolate is his secret ingredient to successful spins. He said if one eats lots of chocolate then his centre of gravity becomes heaver (he meant his bum of course:laugh:) and therefore it leads to the perfect centering and balance during spins. Anyways I don't think either Stephane or Yuzu eat too much. So I guess this cake was just a chance to eat a bit more than Yuzu usually does.
Nice cake btw.

He seems to talk about his mother and his sister. I never hear him mentioning his dad. He is only speaking of his parents. Someone' s got informations ( officially made public, I know, no rumors) about Hanyus father ? Someone' s seen his father (for examle in this music show, where Hanyu was judge)? Sorry that I am so curious...this question is nagging me for a long time.

Yuzu's papa driving his son to Japan National 2015 ;)
Also, at 08:38, Yuzu’s former coach told him that he has met his father backstage.

A recent article talks about his plan to pursue further study after retirement. That is said to be his promise with his father.

About Yuzu's new movie, today's newspaper revealed that the movie script was first presented to Yuu's father.

Jazz can be anything from really good to horribly awful. But so can pretty much any form of music/art. I do like some swing and big band stuff. Still, somehow I have a weird feeling about this. :palmf:
I dunno. I trust Yuzuru. Where he goes, I will follow.

Yes, nice cake, I would have broken a piece and eaten it instantely. You think Hanyu has to keep a diet ? I remember Daisuke Takahasi regretted that he may not eat ( or eat much of) in fat roasted dumplings and feared that he would set on weight after his retirement - it seems that did not happen during his stay in New York/ US . Or is Hanyu just eating all he likes, just eating not too much of all, because its normal for him not to eat masses of food ( I do that) ?
Look at Russian skating girls, many of them thin like a match. Well , if a girl is growing the limbs stretch, but these girls are too thin. I heard that a russian skating trainer in Germany put a 1000 kcal diet on her pupils, they may not eat f.ex. grapes.

Thanks to skatefan22 for the links concerning Hanyus father !

Yuzu is not really gaining that much and he burns calories like fire. He's not on a diet if only he is following a regimen that allows him to eat more soup and other healthy home made food for better digestion and more vitamins and minerals for a proper energy level. There was this kind of info couple of years ago, prior to Olympic season. I guess I spotted that soup diet guy as the one he bowed to after the Japanese Nationals when he had done after skate interviews. He is known to lose weight in stressful situations so really he is not about overweight and he likes healthy food a lot.

Didn't he say once that he was quite picky with food?

Im not that interested in food either, and I am picky and have a sensitive stomach.... but for some reason chocolate always goes down, and goes right to my centre of gravity, lol.

thoughts about being a perfectionist

Soup ? Interesting, must be a very healthy stuff, not this normal instant soup with all the crazy things in it- flavour enhancers - I feel itching even thinking of it.
Meals or food - if you have something that drives you, often you forget to eat - thats my case.

Hanyu is driven by himself - the perfectionist. Hanyu wants for his jumps not only the full rotation and a landing one one foot, he wants to find the perfect technique for them.

I am also a perfectionist, also a reason I chose Hanyu as Video teacher, I am very often very disappointed with me. Every day you have a different stance - your body ( at least mine) - does variations: Thats seems pretty chaotic but is perfect because there will be a day your jump is perfect. For me its nearly impossible to keep it, next day there maybe a litte lean to this or that side, hip not high enough, a little pulling of the shoulder and .....gone. Its a jump, but the perfect feeling is gone.
If I did this perfect jump for the first time I lost it after two days completely, its crazy, you tell your "ES" = to your body to keep it and he loses it ! Chasing after it tightens me up very often, but without this chasing your body looses interest to find that perfect technique again. Often before going to sleep I ask my body to find a solution for a problem in a jump/ move, often in the morning after breakfast - I may not give pressure for the solution, I have to "hear inside myself" - there is something coming from underneath to solve this problem. Thats a lot of self imposed pressure to be an perfectionist.

Hanyu san has got a lot more pressure with his competitions and all the expectations set upon him. He is playing with himself when he says he wants this second gold medal: He knows he is putting a lot of pressure on himself saying that- he wants to find out if he can keep this pressure - therefore a play with himself, chasing his limits in every way. Lets hope he pulls that string not too far that it breaks. Thats a decision he has to take for himself, I wish him good luck.
Ganbatte !!

Now there is my secret for not gaining weight since I was 17 years old (now it held 40 years): If you have something in your head that drives you , you loose interest in eating for pleasure, you eat for just sustaining your body or helping him. Only if you have this mindset you can watch the inside of your fridge and your body says what he needs, not more. Because you want to help your body you choose healthy stuff to eat and your body apreciates it, he begins to like it. During stressful situations I cant eat, even before training, I am a perfectionist.

Thanks for reading.

Yes, a healthy recipe, Mommy made soup, not instant ones. He even helps Mom with groceries shopping when in Canada.
As per his aim to get a second gold at Olympics- he knows his capabilities and he is like that: he always aims high. I respect that in athletes.

I loved the way they described the program as stillness vs. motion. I know some people have complained that his program doesn't have much in between transitions and seems empty (but he has dozens of transitions going directly in and out of his elements), but I think it works extremely well for the theme he chose. I personally think the program would have looked too busy with too many in between transitions and would have taken away from the message he is trying to convey. Kurt said it best when he described the crossrolls as doing nothing but everything at the same time.

I think he wants to try a jazzy program to show that he's capable of doing dozens of steps too. For those who complain about his current LP being sorta "empty". It is not empty by any means, it is precise and sound.
I've been listening to the OST from Ocean's 12 and this track could be a great one for him if he likes it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rID4LfA_qtM It has great energy, can be good for a complicated footwork.
