Welcome. I like your sense of timing. :)

And going down memory lane, here are two Sochi Olympic videos on Yuzuru from vimeo: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-KNgAxD6pnc&autoplay=1 (backgrounder on Yuzuru and noting the irony of the situation of his coach Brian Orser) and https://vimeo.com/102521948 (BBC commentary of Robin Cousins and Sue Barker with Viet subs on Yuzuru's historic Olympic SP).

Happy Hearts Day to everyone! :)

I am sorry but the first link is about Sota performance in Youth olympic game!

so desu ne! (just a Japanese expression!)
First I chose the name "YuzuHolic" but it's not available so I change to 4everYuzu, well it may be similar to 4everchan but totally not related, I devote myself to one and only Yuzu!
Time to World seems thousands year long so this thread is my savior from IYHS! (lol I laughed so hard when I read the post about this syndrome, back to the time before World 2015 I think so, because of his mysterious disappear?! :scratch2: )
I kill my time when waiting for Yuzu's re-appearance by reading over 2000 pages of this thread and learn many useful things. :) Once again thank you guys so much :luv17: You are all so knowledgeable, positive, funny and kind! :) I am totally an amateur in FS and only start watching this sport after knowing Yuzu in his performance at NHK trophy, so "Yoroshiku onegaishimasu!" (Just another expression in Japanese when someone is a newbie and introduce him/herself to a community!) (By the way, I am not Japanese, but I am studying in Japanese and try to improve my Japanese, Yuzu is one of my motivation, hope that in future I can translate something! :) )
Welcome :dance3: you watched him at NHK 2015 for the first time? no doubt you became a fan ;)

I do agree with those who predict that Hanyu will minimally change the overall layout of his program, simply replacing the first quad toe with the loop and then upgrading the triple axel-double toe to a triple-triple. This would be least disruptive to the program as it was constructed and would still add probably 5 or 6 points to his base value.

He did alter his short program quite a bit but I am wondering, with the amount of time he has before worlds would he go back to the original layout and have his combination as the last jump element? This clearly isn't a stamina issue since he's proven he's capable of doing a reasonably solid quad-triple in the second half of his long program.
do you mean that he does 4S, and 3A, 4T-3T at the second half? I don't think he'd jump the quad at last maybe the 4T-3T and then 3A to finish (both at second half)

Happy Valentine and 2nd anniversary of Olympic gold to Yuzu and everyone :peace:

Yuzu's Golden Olympic moments
- His sportsmanship...helping Machida, bowing to audience/javi/coach, cheering for Javi
- Yuzu and his idol
- Cute off-ice fall
- Running towards the bus dragging his trolley bag and bowed to the journalists/media
- Team event SP and K&C
- "I did it!", 101.45
- When he thought the gold was lost, "Katta!...oh my god!...I'm first?", papa and student hug
- proud papa moment at flower ceremony, the lady presenter patted his cheek
- medal ceremony
- Gala the White Legend performance especially the long sit back and twizzle on one leg (not sure the name of that move) and dancing with Yulia.
......and many more other moments I'm sure.

I love that we have many Yuzu's moments at every events captured by the official camera, media, fancams, fans' tweets which mostly made into fanarts etc. For every event I believe we can have at least an hour of Yuzu moments video.

Edit to add: Thank you to his family, all his coaches (BOrser, Nanami Abe, Tsuzuki, coaches when he was younger and Pooh), his teams (Mrs Kobayashi, Mr. Kikuchi, etc), his friends, his fans and everyone that has helped & supported him throughout his journey as a skater and a person.

2nd edit to add: I forgot to add Tracy Wilson, choreographers (Jeffrey Buttle, David Wilson, Shae, Russian team for R&J1), Nanami's husband Yoshida-san & people of Sendai, his team mates, JSF/TCC, photographer Sunao Noto, his idols & senpais.....I'm sure there are many more people that I've missed or behind the scene who has supported Yuzu in his journey.

My sisters and I were up at about 3am to watch the Olympics live and the amount of emotions I experienced in the 15 minutes of Yuzu's program was probably more than I had experienced that whole year.

I was also lucky to watch the competition live! (the three programs he skated ) I actually watched all the 4 events fully (except the pairs SP because it wasn't aired )

Two years and two days ago I was barely aware that the Olympics were happening at all, because I haven't had a TV in like 6 years or so. But my mother watched pretty much everything they would show on TV. I just happened to walk into her living room when that guy in the blue shirt was about to get on the ice  just a happy little accident that vaporized what was left of my sanity  not that there had been much left anyway

I remember the day the men's FP happened. I had to eat breakfast quickly and I washed my hair and showered in record time and got the NBC livestream up on my laptop just in time to see the men's FP start. :) I think I might have taken the laptop to the kitchen when I ate lunch so I wouldn't miss a thing.

Thanks for sharing all the wonderful memories of Sochi!

One of my favourite moment from Sochi is how Yuzu dealt with the Japanese media after one of his practice sessions, he was being very do-s and told them they are only allowed to ask ONE question! I can't imagine how much pressure it must have been with all the media following him around and wanting to ask him a million question everytime he enters the venue. So I felt really proud of him to take control of the situation and not to be carried away with all the media distraction.

Best decision ever !

I remember I left home at dawn, it was very cold but there were no clouds in the sky. Irrevocably I thought it was the first light of the Day Yuzuru Hanyu would have entered History, that feeling was so strong .

Since then I use to watch the sky everytime Yuzu competes somewhere in the world ...

I have been following him since 2011 , so Sochi gold was greatest gift for me . I was watching live with my husband's grandma and when he won we were hugging each other in the middle of the room :)) Also after GPF 2013 I had a bet with my friend that he will win and I won :yahoo:
Thank you my boy for making my life better and congrets !

Best decision ever !
I couldn't agree more  although, according to most of my friends, since then I suffer either from multiple personality disorder or demonic possession. Those are the only two reasons they can see for why I turned to figure skating  But I think after two years it's now officially too late for an intervention or an exorcism
:yes2:

Has it already been two years already? I remember rushing from work to see the competitions in my computer. Seeing Yuzu's skate in Sochi made me the figure skater fan that I am right now.

:luv17: and I like the habit.

I just remember hearing about a young, Japanese skater that had a chance to become the first Japanese man to win a gold medal at Sochi. When I saw his SP, I searched the web for any other skates and found R&J1. I was hooked from that point on and this thread has been awesome. I'm hooked on reading this thread and check daily for any updates. You are all wonderful for taking time to post anything Yuzu!
