I knew it, I'm so proud of him!:luv17: I love everything on this program, actually I liked more than the GPF.The spins were unreal:eeking: Now, I think he's more relaxed and I expect a great free. Thank Yuzuru, you remind me the reasons why I love figure skating.

His strategy of keeping his short program for two seasons... has worked extremely well so far. Each time, he has polished and refined it, until it earned him new World Records and an Olympic gold medal.

With that in mind... assuming he has a new short program next season... I think it might also be his 2018 Olympic short program...!

Oh, i totally forgot it. Considering his sp cycle and retiring plan of 2018, it might be his last competition SP? I can't believe..

SP Press Conference[email protected] "....ah...i can't explain, so i'm speaking in japanese, sorry...." the laugh

I watched this conference and strongly feel he emphasized that this time he’d had the feelings which was rather different and was in the difficult situation mentally. But he beat it. He got much confidence in himself.

Other thing.. He felt happiness, joy of skate. During performance he could let the thought to win go, and enjoyed fully. He said it might have been one of the means to concentrate.

Is there a video of the Yuzu/Denis incicdent during practice? People have been talking so much about it and I'm curious what it looked like. (I'm a bit heartbroken for Denis, judging by his performance he doesn't seem to be all there yet. Although not as heartbroken as for Nam.)

It's in Japan Today as well, I just saw it. I don't like this type of thing as nothing should detract from his glorious program last night. I trust the Japanese federation to handle the rest through official channels. It should stay at that.

idk, i dont see the point Denis doing it intentionally since its a risk of injury for him too  i hope they will talk about it solve the problem among themselves

and lets not let this overshadow the BRILLIANT performance he just showed us :luv17::hap57: that was amazing! stsq is level 3 but he got highest GOE for it!! (for level 3 anyway:biggrin: it it was level 4 he would get 2.1)

Well , we have only ours opinion , they skate for a very long time, and if he feels it could have beed intentional move, then who knows. I watched video when Denis cut off Hanyu two times during one run trough and it looked Denis didn't even take care, just runed his way, but let's leave this.

Do you have the link please ? I'm sorry if it was posted before but drown in the explosion of the thread.

It's only now that I realize he actually smiled during his performance. I could not see it on that little stream video and because I was so nervous during his skate.

Yes! Although the tension was very great I was able to stay riveted to the livestream and I saw, several times, a joyful smile that was sometimes fiercely so! And flashes of a brilliant amazing soaring energy that absolutely lit up the Ballade even more! It felt at the very edge of being pure energy moving through the music! This is incoherent, but I know you know. Even remembering, now there are suddenly tears in my eyes and happiness throughout my heart. What a privilege to see this!

I found the video !!! (with russian commentary)

Italian commentators https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eM6v3QIbuoQ

If the Spanish stations broadcasted it and Paloma and Susana went nuts, I'll definitely upload a translation on YT

CBC commentary on the men's short. Yuzu starts around 1:23:20 (requires VPN)

Carol: "Its like he is on a mission to be not just the best in the world, but the best there has ever been."
Kurt: "Too late. He already is."

WORLDS – SHORT PROGRAM – COMMENTARY TRANSLATION

Match TV stream with Grishin and Tarasova commentary- my translation for those who are still up (because I couldn't go to sleep basically )

Prior to skate:

Tarasova: And here's Yuzuru Hanyu who we can't stop loving because...
Grishin: This guy is phenomenal, what else can you say?
Tarasova: Yes.
Grishin: This guy realized someone could get to him and went more complexed (he means Yuzu went for higher BV). And when he goes clean and he does is quite often...
Tarasova: He's got the right coach. Because he's coaching him too. (She means Yuzu did not master those skills alone).
Grishin: Well I can go on with saying that Fernandez has got the same coach...

And they both go silent for the skate- bless them!

After the skate:

Grishin: Check, mate, knock-out! It is hard to put in words.
Tarasova: The unique, the most gifted among the talented, I've no words. Only admiration.
Grishin: For the third time during the season Hanyu performs the skate of life.
Tarasova: His climbing to the heights, the acquiring (of skills) went on for so many years, he's been wallowing a lot (she likes that phrase, that those who fall would dirt them out, wallow on the ice, don't take her words to heart) and he did not have enough power to do everything that he could put together (the jumps obviously). And now I am simply grateful to him as a coach who's been working for 50 years that I can feel this happiness witnessing this. Seing there is no limit to human perfection. Throughout the years different athletes proved that.
Grishin (after the repeat of 4S): ...and into the spread eagle.
Tarasova: And he's unique. So strong right now and so lightweight, so thin- everything fits for him to rotate.
Grishin (on 4T3T repeat): I caught myself thinking: look at that, here's his combo, he goes Up! I'm saying that I caught myself thinking during the jump elements being the judges- what I would put for those (jumps)? And I realized that I would stick to GOE +3 for every jump element: including Sal and combo even though he had a tiny mistake at landing from first toeloop (quad) before the triple...
Tarasova: Don't you think they do exactly that? Look!
Grishin: They do. It's impossible not to.
Tarasova: They do it by default. By default. Because it's a pure delight- his extended hip (can you believe she appreciates his stretched out HIP after landing that beautiful 3A? Me too, TAT, me too!)
Grishin (on final poze and monster face by Yuzu): Simply the beast.
Tarasova: As if he is holding the air (on his shoulders).
Grishin: Wild Vinnie Pooh.
Tarasova: He's (skating) as if he was in a vacuum all alone (she means like he's up in the space floating, you know, no gravity attached). Of course.
Grishin: There's nothing left to say.
Tarasova: Amazing! Right.
Grishin: So this guy gets a bit lower than his own WR. Into the confident lead.
Tarasova: Maxim comes next.

Might as well post it now, though I think some parts in the middle were cut.

P: We’ve seen good (skaters), but this 21 y/o boy keeps amazing us ever since he was 15. With 2 super classic (?) programs, the ones used by Yuzuru Hanyu. His preparation ritual, and he also has 2 quads on his SP.
P: What a start, Mr. Hanyu (4S)
P: Take that (4T3T)
P: It’s terrific
S: Yes, sir, Goodness me
P: Goodness me. What a program. The season was long and he had the option of notching down his performance. But far form notching it down, he keeps improving.

EDIT: I knew something was missing but I found it!

S: This is perfection, technically, artistically.
P: He is 9 points above at the moment. He's everything, he has it, he feels it, he lives it, he skates it, he expresses it. Amazing, amazing, come on. Everyone on their feet, amazing
S: Mr. Hanyu, thank you for making us feel things like this. I don't know what will happen in the FS but those feelings that move all of us have been repeated with his skating, with his technical and artistic perfection
P: He's 8 points above in TES. And we have yet to see because in PCS he will score higher that Patrick Chan and is very difficult to overcome him. But look at those numbers, 9:93 in P/E. Do you remember the 10 he got in Barcelona? It didn't happen here, but his record is 110.95 and this performance should be around those scores.

S: Look at the repetitions. I kept quiet to enjoy it. We have to analyze how such perfection is possible. 4S, perfect air position. No question on the 4 rotationS. Magnificent landing. Here comes the 4T combo. Again great air position. 4 round revolutions, and he risks the 3T. 3A, easy, with those preceding steps, very good ice coverage and the arch of the jump. From then on he just enjoyed, he made us enjoy. Step sequence level 3 but all the spins level 4
P: Terrific, terrific. Right now he gets, according to the judges, 12 points over Javier Fernandez. Look at the cushion that Yuzuru Hanyu will have for the day after tomorrow on the free skate
S: Yes sir.

P: How great, what a likable guy. Everyone likes him. He always thanks Brian Orser for his work.
S: He’s like a kid
P: He’s like a kid. Look 9.93 on P/E
S: Wow!
P: His PB is 110.95 which he got at the GPF, there he got over 330 total (score). He didn’t get get there but he evidently has a 12-point cushion over Javier Fernandez who is 2nd.

Yuzuru Hanyu: "To be honest, I am very, very happy right now, more so than after NHK Trophy or the Grand Prix Final (Jackie Wong)

Starting order for FS. http://www.isuresults.com/results/season1516/wc2016/SEG002.HTM

Here is fan uncle Phil Hersh's new article on Yuzu's performance. But he is a bit late in joining the fan club. The British uncles already crowned yuzu the best ever when he was a teenager a few years ago.

The trouble at the practice bothered him. But he said, “ I can get skating imaging the background of SP music (Ballade) and cherishing the thoughts of my fans.”
We cannot forget what Jeff put into the program. Peace and calm.

And about his performance, “still 70 %”!

"Hanyu had been rattled earlier in the day when he nearly collided with Kazakh rival Denis Ten, who got in his way during practice. “It didn’t affect him tonight but I bet you he had to go back and do a lot of soul-searching and release the demons because he was carrying it right in his chest,” said his coach Brian Orser. “He was angry. I was telling him, you need to breathe and let it go. You have to move on. Because he’s too good to let that stuff bother him.”

I haven't caught up with the thread yet, but saw this appear on the Dutch public news website. It's pretty much unheard of for Dutch news to report on the short programs of figure skating, usually only after the medals have been handed out they will do a short report. They simply don't care (over here people only care about speed skating). So this caught me totally by surprise. http://nos.nl/artikel/2096269-yuruzu-hanyu-maakt-favorietenrol-waar.html
Nothing very important, content-wise, just that he's the top favorite for the title and leaving no doubt about it in the SP. :-)

I finally saw the Eurosport guys and it reminded me of something I wanted to say last night but forgot.

When he goes to do the step-sequence towards the end of the SP, you can hear Brian shouting "Go!" from the rink side and I adore that moment! Yuzu exploded then and it all kind of makes such an amazing whole now. Just lovely.

Oh I've also decided this Yuzuru is my favourite Yuzuru. Warrior Hanyu. I loved seeing the passion and the drive and the emotion fueling him to greater and greater heights. Right on Nicky, these are the moments when true champions show their colours. Such a wonderful skate and I am going to miss this SP.

(If anyone had told me a few months ago I'd be happy to get sick and stuck at home, I'd have laughed but boy did it slot in place for me!)

Ah, Good ol' Susanna and Pamela....their enthusiasm still unwavered since GPF.

Thanks for mentioning this! I heard the shout during the program, and told myself "Total crazyness of the moment when you hear Brian shouting to cheer Yuzu" but when watching it a second time I was confused, and thought it was just my imagination.

I thought the step sequence in Boston was more intense with more arm movements compared to those in NHK and GPF.

Did Grishin really mention Winnie the Pooh? A commentator from Russia delighted with a soft toy? This is so hilarious!
