Just read from Japanese, Yuzuru was selected as the best foreign athlete of winter sports, and Boyang as the best athlete by the vote held by 微博 (?) of China.
and CCTV will air a program about this from 20:18 China time (Beijing?) today.

It will be more accurate if someone understand Chinese translate the article.

Ah thanks! Of all sports? Or just winter sports? This is from CCTV right? Congrats Yuzu! :hap10:

It's a poll which was held by CCTV5 (China sport TV channel) to encourage ice-sport athlete, 'Winter/Snow season Sports Role Model Award'.

Yuzu won the Best Foreign Athlete. The rest are all China's athletes and Boyang was Best Male Athlete. This is CCTV5 cm clip on this, Yuzu @1.48min, 2.08min. Website with the details.

Article from journal sentinel about gale tanger (now-retiring judge) with mentions of Yuzuru :

http://www.jsonline.com/sports/gale-tanger-plans-to-continue-serving-figure-skating-b99728770z1-380340671.html
Yuzuru-related part from the article :

"Gale Tanger's career at the highest ranks of international figure skating judging has taken her around the world to witness the best performances at the highest levels of her sport.
She has awarded perfect scores across the decades, from Kristi Yamaguchi and Michelle Kwan to Yuzuru Hanyu.
She has helped the sport evolve and grow, training the next generations of judges and helping to rewrite the scoring rules.
She has seen it all, from Tanya Harding's scandalous hit job on Nancy Kerrigan, to the barren airports of Cold War Russia. She has been a part of five Olympics and 10 World Championships."

"Even recently, Tanger was judging in Barcelona last December for the Grand Prix final and saw Hanyu's perfect program — this time a perfect 10 under the new scoring system.
"I remember looking at my sheet going, 'What has he not accomplished?'" said Tanger. "I saw the perfect 6 and I saw the perfect 10. I can rest with that.""

CCTV5 just showed the program. Yuzu received overwhelming 90% of vote.

This is the 4min footage on Yuzu, they even covered the background of Seimei program. The Chinese fans really love him.

:yahoo:

There are three nominees. All of them are leaders of winter sports. Martins Dukurs won 7 out of 8 competitions during the past season, won the wc, definitely had a wonderful season, but he doesn't have a strong fan base in China:p the other one, I don't know her.:scratch2:

Translation of the video by Lilian Fung @YHIFG FB (aka Ahkeekee @GS):
This is the youngest athlete in figure skating to sweep all the honors and the king of figure skating, Yuzuru Hanyu. He keeps surpassing the records he set. Since figure skating is such a popular sport in China, Yuzu won by an overwhelmingly huge margin as the most outstanding foreign athlete in China. (They then plays the clip of yuzu's record breaking moment in nhk)

After executing all of his jumps perfectly in NHK, Yuzu smashed the records of sp, fp and total score, achieving almost full score for his pcs. He reused Ballade no. 1 for his short program in order to focus on his free program. (then introduces yuzu's program, the movie Onmyouji) in the original scripts on Abe no Seimei, it says: "Seimei has a slender body type, pale skin, water-like pure eyes; with his wits, he makes no mistakes in whatever he do." It is as though this character is tailor-made for Yuzu, and Yuzu is the only one who could present the essence of the historical figure, Japanese history and culture in his skate.

In his opening pose, it is as though Yuzu is chanting with his right hand, and supports the sky (heaven in the japanese context?) with his left hand while his foot moves as though he's controlling the earth (?), symbolizing that Onmyouji has control (?) over the heaven and earth. Imagine the entire ice rink as an entirely dark space, Yuzu's movements is like rays of sun beaming through absolute darkness, chasing away clouds and darkness. (WOAH)

Yuzu's movements and expressions changes along with the plot in the movie dramatically, this balance of expressions and movement is the essence of performing. Through Yuzu's skate, he presents the essence of the culture of Onmyouji. "It is undeniable that yuzu is the one of the most outstanding athlete in winter sports in recent years. To defeat the Westerners in this sport (fs) itself is an admirable feat."

"His desire to win is stronger than anyone else, if you remember, his coach Nanami said that if you ask in what way is Yuzu a talent, it would be that he's more diligent than everybody else" (there's a little part missing?) (then they play the recording breaking moment in gpf).

Perfect performance and breaking records are not the end of the story. His choreographer said there is still room for improvement in this programme. Hanyu, in his quest to surpass himself, goes through all lengths without any hesitation.

Alternate translation of a section:
"The original work described Abe no Seimei as a man with an ethereal air and as having a slender figure, fair skin and a sparkling gaze! This character almost seems as if it were created just for Hanyu Yuzuru." - credit Prissy Lai

I didn't realised that --> "Imagine the entire ice rink as an entirely dark space, Yuzu's movements is like rays of sun beaming through absolute darkness, chasing away clouds and darkness" was actually said by Shae-Lynn Bourne when she was asked about her choreography for SEIMEI at the start of the season.

Is that the posts at the time of Yuzuru, Nobunari and Shoma's Guys Talk?
Then, it may be me who posted the links in July 2015

Wow what an amazing insight <3 thanks!

Since there's been no news this weekend, here's a video of a TV talk show that was aired tonight for laughs.

The guest is a popular actress, Yoko Maki and she is a big figure skating/Yuzuru fan.
The guy who appears on the video is her comedian friend (Koyabu). I didn't watch the show from the beginning but I'm guessing he was asked what he wanted her to stop doing. He said that Yoko is really passionate when she talks about Yuzuru and although he likes figure skating himself and thinks of Yuzuru as a national treasure, he gets tired after she speaks about Yuzuru for 20 minutes. She describes small details about things like "that expression/his eyes when he does that thing, etc." and because Koyabu-san supports Yuzuru himself, he listens to her but she talks for so long and praises him so much that he starts to get jealous and thinks, "the audience will think I'm funnier (than Yuzuru) if we were at NGK (I think it's where he does stand-up comedy)."

Back in the studio, the host (Ueda) asked her if she likes Yuzuru that much and she replied that she's always liked figure skating and she made Koyabu watch Yuzuru's performances when he came to her house. She explained to Koyabu how difficult his jump entries are and kept on rewinding and fast-forwarding the video. Ueda asked her if she's seen it live and she said she's seen Daisuke and Shizuka in an ice show but hasn't seen Yuzuru yet. Ueda boasted that he saw Yuzuru at the Sochi Olympics and interviewed him afterwards and you can see Yoko's response from 2:47 . She shouted, "I'm envious!! How was he!?" Ueda said, "he's sincere, humble, a very nice young man." and she's still excited at 3:08.
After that she talks briefly about Patrick and Boyang. She skates sometimes herself and reconfirms how great Yuzuru is when she does.

This is Yoko Maki's instagram when she posted things about the an-an magazine he was in.
Why did I buy this?? Why??
What am I pinning up??
An-an-san, this is not good, this is not good.
Also a photo with Daisuke and Shizuka.
