I think and hope so too even though ice shows are always better with him in it. The only thing I'd be concerned about is that he won't be performing in front of people for a very long time and that might make him more nervous than usual at his first competition. But nothing should be sacrificed over healing an injury. I hope he can at least get a lot of his studies done during the off season so he won't have to study so much during the competition season.

High Base Value of elements is worthless, if a skater can't get +ve Grades of Exececution for those elements - and that is where Hanyu excels. He targets nearly ALL the GoE bullet points to try and get +3's. And these days he largely succeeds.

Most other skaters do not (or simply can not) target as many bullet points... and so they only get +2's at best (except when judges are being overly generous, which admittedly happens a lot for certain skaters).

To win championships, skaters need both high BV, and high GoE's... it is very difficult to increase either of those, and deliver them consistently in competition, and all the while maintain high PCS...! Hanyu is incredibly difficult to beat, even if he doesn't increase his BV.

Yeah but everyone got +3 GOEs now. Even without that scenario, 2 years are a long time. I doubt the young ones like shoma and boyang, also Chan or even Fernandez just want to stay stagnant and too comfortable or not improving. Besides looking at his character I highly doubt he won't increase his tech content, push himself and improving. He already mentioned in his post-WC interview that he will anyway. Hanyu is unbeatable when clean, now. It may not be the same case in olympic season. Getting too comfortable is never a good thing when you are an athlete or competitor.

World may not be a good choice considering that hanyu chan and uno were a disaster there. Chan and Javi are capable of getting +3s, even the current shoma has already getting over +2 GOEs on his elements, now. Who knows where these guys will be 2 yrs from now. Hanyu is an athlete who add a quad in his SP, mid-season, when he doesn't need to. I highly doubt he will stick with the same layout for the next season and oly season.
Also, did people forget what happen to Chan? He gets a bit too comfortable due to his PCS cushion, now he is in a position where he have to grind himself in doing 3 quad in the long and 2 in the Short.
 
I'm not only concerned about his physical condition, but his mental health and and a lot of other issues as well😱I didn't expect his absence from DOI. I'm wondering what's going on

Isn't DOI only 1 week from the last FaOI? So if he can't make FaOI, it's very likely he won't make DOI either. He needs to show his new program at DOI too. His new programs probably won't be ready by DOI either.
 
I thought maybe he would participate on some July shows. Anyway his recovery is priority. I remember when we said he had too many shows on summer, good thing he can rest from all that even if he is going to be very much missed.

I'm not sure why he withdrew from DOI. There are lots of possibilities.
Anyway, he's always very nervous/uncomfortable/shy to be back in competitions when he's away for a few months. 15wc and 16wc are good examples. If he'll be away from the public eye for 6 months, I bet he'll be super nervous in his first GP next season. :laugh2:

I'm so glad that Hanyu has not to do ice shows he NEEDS plenty of rest and time to heal and get his new programs together! I want him healthy and happy!

I'm feeling very, very miss you, because , 'he it is a dream to watch', but I'm very glad he was doing what he needs right now. Yuzu raised the level of the sport to unimaginable levels and prompted his opponents to do the same and to believe that you can do more and better. Today he is more determined and conscious of what needs to achieve its goals and meet the new challenges ahead. He it has two seasons and an Olympic gold to win. It already has its memorable record in the world, but he knows he can still perform a lot better than we can predict. I trust and believe that all is well with him and that soon we will see.
I love the comments Simon Reed e Chris Haworth this video. Mainly this: "He may be one of the greatest skaters , if not the greatest skaters of all time"
On this day I believed that he could WR, but Lutz ... No matter, for me it was a wonderful performance after all that had happened to him.

Yes it's wonderful! I was very sad that day because I thought I wasn't going to be able to watch it live, but thankfully I could and I was really proud and happy after those hard GP's, watching him happy was really great.

.I'm so happy for you. I can imagine his emotion. In the end I was very happy to see your beautiful smile again. We only dreamed of the WR and a year later he did ... Wow! I do not have words.
 
As Yuzu is healing, may he feel the warmth and love from all who care about him. Best wishes that he will soon be back to doing all the things he loves.


A couple of weeks ago we talked about lovely Japanese fans who gave away Yuzu's clear files and souvenirs to other fans. Yesterday, I received these gifts from the lovely Yuri (I included pages from the Number magazine). I just couldn't thank her enough.

One of my most poignant pictures of Yuzu is the 16yo Yuzu looking up as he was about to enter the rink with Kenji looking down behind him at the 2011 earthquake charity ice show....symbolizing in the time of sadness there is a great hope for the future.

I was surprised to read it... The photo is most imporessive one for me and find it a great work by Noto-san. It's a simple one, but you can see a lot from it.. Agony of a boy, the fear of the cruel disaster, tons of tears of many peaple.. and hope. I remember there was a TV crip where Noto-san talked about that photo. In my memory, to see that face of yuzu, he was certainly sure that yuzu would keep skating. At that time, yuzu lost his way whether he should continue skating in that situation or not.

even though i miss him A LOT i am glad they are not hurrying back to ice shows, and i think if he is healty we will see him at senior b competition(s) since he wont have a chance to perform his new programs this summer in front of an audience
