Yikes. He hates skating second lol.

But just shake it off, Yuzuru. You can do it. You have been doing it time and again.

Actually I think that's a blessing in disguise.

He hates skating in second, and yet again and again, he finds himself in that very position. That's Life(tm) trying to teach him something. And it's going to try teaching him until he actually learns something from it (because that's how it always is, in life, you always find yourself facing the same problems until you learn something from them, and then they *miraculously* disappear and never reappear again).

Yuzu is a fantastic skater, he shouldn't let a skating position affect him. I'm wishing him to have an LP skate he'll be happy with and to break that pattern :agree:

I enjoy watching the SP after the quads

I think I would when I rewatch it. I was too disappointed for him after the first half to really enjoy it properly...

Edit: Okay I just rewatched it and it was great actually. I think I liked it better than his ACI performance. He managed to get the finger choreography into the spin this time! If he can skate like this after that start, it would be soo good once he gets it clean.

I have been rewatching it again and again skipping sometimes the part of Quads. He looks really gorgeous today especially the moment he looks up at the start of the program:love: and his 3A beautiful as always.

New article from Asahi. Sorry if this has been already posted.

It says the success rate of his 4Lo were getting lower going into Autumn Classic, so he repeated run-throughs in his preparation for Skate Canada. He seemed to have found some points to nail it in the program, but he analyses that thinking too much about those points made him too cautious and that led him to this result.

Wish his good luck tomorrow.:cheer:

That's what I've been doing lol. just skip the quads. This is what the player control bar is for I reckon.

Hey guys, real gutted for the mistakes but he was out there trying to save the program until the end, turns out I was wrong and I'm on the side where he does the 4-3. He was pushing those edges hard in the step sequence and the spins were fine, loved the final spin.

The white costume is not hard to see in real life, he's a little bright but its an extremely interesting look and it matches the program really well. I like it more after seeing it in real life because the torso is quite sparkly.

so TL;DR I will protect this costume forever

I just came back to home and couldn’t have enough time to read all and I know Ice is slippy, anything will happen but seemed like something is not good happened, apparently.
I didn’t expect he does well since he tends to not do well in the beginning of the season though I hoped that he says “Ureshii” (I am happy) this time instead of “Kuyashii” but seems like he said “Kuyashii” again many times.

But again, I was relieved reading your comment THANKS! I need to watch his SP performance asap! :coffee: the best of luck for him tomorrow!

ETA I am just waiting for his beautiful LP that will come tomorrow!

Thanks for your live report! He is definitely working harder on the step sequences this season so I'm glad it's paying off. The visibility of the costume seems to be getting mixed reviews even from live audiences haha. I'm glad you liked it though.

I don't know why they are scheduling the Men's event so late. Skate America was at least spread over three days... It's no wonder most of the men were off today. I'm not sure this bodes well for tomorrow night.

Edit: Oh it looks like the schedule I was looking at had the Men's FS and Ice dance FD switched. At least it will be around 7pm and not 9pm...

I was there too and have changed my tune about the costume. It is fine in person, you don't lose his legs. Boy looked off before even doing the 4L.. different from how he looked in practice. But he really sold it better, very expressive in his facial expressions. I find in person he has a way of looking up from under his lashes... kind of like Princess Diana in her earlier years... I was quite startled to notice the similarity. This is a great program and will be awesome, eventually.

Maybe when I have energy I will make a detailed report from practices and competition. I am exhausted.

Wait I just realized from all the re-watching:
If he wears black pants after the slide he will have ice all over his pants :eeking:

Just got back from the arena---wow what a long day, skating from 2-11 pm, with some breaks for food, etc., but there really wasn't any restaurants near Hershy Centre, so you're pretty much at the rink all day. Don't know why the men's SP was scheduled for such a late time --- bad idea! After the initial shock of seeing the jump mishaps (could hear some people gasping when they happened), I "calmed down" and watched the rest of the Yuzu skate. I agree with Krunchii that he tried his best to save the program and I actually enjoyed the rest of the program. On a shallow note, I was sitting in the rows above the skaters entrance so could see Yuzu quite clearly and I too like the white costume, which looked great up close, and much better with the gelled hair, like 2012 Worlds. Not really hard to see in person!

Did anyone notice that there were patches of empty seats on the judges' side, pretty good seats too! These were not ones saved for sponsors and VIPS, because those had signs on them. I thought the men's event was sold out, so was really surprised by this. I kept on thinking they would be filled up later, but no one came.

Okay, thank you to everyone who shared the SP experience and news reports and photos. I'm off to bed now, so I can have enough energy to watch the practice and FS, which I am cautiously optimistic about. However, no matter what happens, I just want Yuzu to have a skate that he is happy with.

I was ice skating when this was going on and totally banged up my knee while rushing to get to my phone to see the scores. I'm such a hopeless fan... and everyone nearby stared when I yelled out "No!" :o:
Now I'm laying here icing my knee and trying not to move. Seeing the SP, it actually wasn't too bad, though. I really liked the energy of the program - and the mess-ups on the jumps weren't too distracting, I think. Yuzu actually manages to make the knee-touch-thing(fall, but not? a kneel I guess?) of the 4 Lo look graceful. I mean, obviously the score's not the best, but it's salvageable.

Was the ice just super slippery or something today? Just by looking at the score sheet it seems like everyone had a really rough skate. :scratch2:
Edit: I'm seeing some people talk about how the late start time might have affected them. Makes sense.
