Also they have shortened the time before the actual performance after the marks were given to the previous skater. So when he's on ice there's a room for a quick warm-up, short word with coach and basically get into the center of the rink into the starting poze. Simple routine is better for a quick focus. And he carries a lot of rocks with him (Brian have spoken about those during his #icetalk) so he needs to set himself free from those. This is good. He might feel better and lighter afterwards. For his skating to be more fun than a hardwork.If I understood right, he kinda worries a lot if he can't perform all these necessary routines he had set for himself, which are multiple, so he is so dependent on them it's bothersome. He needs to set himself free from them, become more independent. I agree it's a nice gesture towards preparation for the Olympics 2018.
