but after every performance he always HAS to say kuyashii about something or else they are not interviewing Yuzuru Hanyu hahahaWhoa, i didn't know that! It makes so much sense and something i've been looking for my entire life1. K. this is a very interesting position of the magazine title LOL
2. His Chinese Name
Regarding Yuzu chinese name, it basically carries the same meaning as that of Japanese because, as some of you may be aware, a lot of Japanese words have their roots in Chinese. I think the combination of the four chinese letters roughly translates to "Born as a feather, Tight as a tied String"
It is poetic and beautifully pronounced in both Chinese & Japanese.
More importantly, it encompasses the core Chinese/Japanese value of 剛柔並濟 (harmony is achieved when hardness is coupled with softness) - doesn't this fit Yuzu's personality and skating style? He's lighter, softer, and more flexible than most men but still with power and strength; he's strong-willed and hot-blooded but at the same time adorable and loves his pooh.
Conventional Chinese belief says that one's name impacts on one's personality and destiny. Whether this is true or not, Yuzu's name seems to reflect him very well!
EDIT: "Hardness coupled with softness" may also explain his extreme popularity for his looks in Asian countries. IMO Mainstream perception under Daoism (道), as opposed to those under western influences (sorry couldn't think of a better categorization), requires less masculinity from men and emphasises more on overall balance.
I've always found his name beautiful in many ways:
I love to write it. The first character of his name, 羽, is one of my favorite characters. Writing his name is very relaxing! I feel like there's a certain "harmony" on the strokes and how they flow from one character to the other
I think it sounds beautiful, until now i hadn't listened to the chinese pronunciation, but it sounds beautiful in both japanese and chinese.
Finally, i've always had the impression of "softness", probably because of the "feather" character, but "Hanyuu" sounds to me like a big white fluffy and warm cloud that wraps you with happiness and good feelings. And Yuzuru... I honestly think of a crane because "tsuru" haha, but i've always thought it sounds "dignified". I think that Yuzuru is the perfect name for him

No way was the placement of those letters accidental.
Although I was initially disappointed that he abandoned his white costume, those purple/blue pants have really grown on me!

As we are already talking about Yuzuru's name, can anybody explain me why he shortens it to ゆづ and not ゆず? Even on wikipedia, for the full name it's written as ゆずる
Because the reading of 弦 used for his name is "tsuru". I don't remember what that rule is called but when used in a compound word it turns into "tzuru"/"duru" so you actually have to write "Yuduru" to get the appropriate characters if you are writing on smartphone/computer
Edit: Wikipedia in english doesn't have the hiragana of his name, but japanese wiki does: はにゅう ゆづる
The doubled u is also dropped from the romanization of his name for some reason (i don't know why, i find it really cute...) so technically we should be writing Hanyuu/Hanyū

Oh, i thought it should have been higher on the page
no wonder why i couldn't find it, some articles also have it at the start of the page. I thought his name was written Yuzuru too, until i tried to type it on the computer and no matter what i did, the last kanji didn't come up. That's how i found out it's actually "duru"
