Nice to see Brian in medal ceremony . I think they laughed when Yuzuru was announced as second place.
Alternative title for this video would be 'Poor Shoma'. He's pushed back when all the flower girls want to hold hand with Yuzu, good guy Misha in the rescue, and when taking photo he was invisible swarmed by girld flocked over Yuzu.
Yuzuru is sure popular with the little girls.

aahh when Yuzu bowed to all four sides... (sorry) (sorry) (just a little bit) and I am "Nooooo, but you gave us such a good showing in FS! You have nothing to be sorry for :(" from behind my screen :sad4:

Lol Yes, that's NHK trophy right. Maybe he uses it often and I'm too blind to notice it when it's light.

Lol that's not eyeliner, you can tell he doesn't have any during K&C. Its just the shadows and his eyelashes

He sweats so much that I'm not sure anything would quite stay on. Plus the way he scrubs his face with that towel too, that isn't quite what you do when you have makeup on unless you want to turn into a panda

(Panda Yuzu?)

Yup, i think there even was a caption on a photo of that where it said that "he was born with natural eyeliner"
Looks like it would be bad for international (since i did vote too haha) productivity if Yuzuru married! He is currently in first place of the poll in which they ask people which celebrity would shock them the most to the point of taking a day off of work if they married...

OMG. Okay. So much to say. Let's just say that like Meoima, I'm also a little mad at Yuzu for messing up his short, because after that I could barely calm myself down enough to watch his free skate so I drank a little too much tequila and passed out. I was conscious enough to see him pop his salchow again, and then the next thing I remember is him throwing in a triple axel after his ina bauer, and I was like "WHAT MUST HAVE HAPPENED FOR YUZU TO CHANGE HIS PROGRAM SO MUCH?!" and I started screaming in a drunken rage. The security of my building had to come over to check out what was wrong and I had to hide :slink: I did see him celebrate in the K&C which will be forever imprinted in my mind :luv17: Of course, I started screaming again after Nathan's score because all I really saw where the stepouts and a WORSE program than his GPF one that didn't even break 200 :tantrum:

So, yes, I'm a little mad at him because I don't think any of this would've happened if he hadn't popped his sal in the short, but I really shouldn't blame Yuzu for my poor life choices

But rewatching the program the next day -- omg, it was so good. Yes, it is my absolute favorite rendition of Hope and Legacy. Maybe because he looked so intense and intense Yuzu = sexy sexy sexy. But also because he looked like he was fighting rather than "just" performing, and he looked like he cared. I feel like I haven't seen him like that yet this season? Yes, I agree that he didn't emote as much and was maybe too concentrated (seriously, having to recalculate your layout on the fly, what in the world?! haha). But I ain't even complaining because mayyyyyybe the original version was too soft and lyrical throughout for me. I think this time it was the right amount of intensity ;) Maybe he should choose programs where his natural serial killer glare completely FITS in with the music and he doesn't need to remember to EMOTE separately hahaha.

On a separate note, I did watch the B.Esp version after seeing the comments about that here. I didn't think they were too bad. They mentioned that Yuzu was so dominant technically a couple years back and they're right, he was, and he isn't anymore. They also said he doesn't seem as confident. I do agree with them on this. I don't think they love him any less. They're not always completely complimentary, especially since I'm sure they need to save some positive things to say about the newcomers, too. They do work for a network channel after all. I remember B.Esp loved Yuna but they weren't so complimentary to her at 2011 Worlds, either. But that doesn't mean they loved her less.

Anyway, I'm so proud of Yuzu. That YOLO quad toe was beautiful. Those triple axels were beautiful. And thinking on his feet after the popped salchow, WOW :luv17: And so proud that he can look at this as his happiest silver medal. I think having someone to "chase" (right, like Yuzu is "chasing" Nathan, but in terms of # of quads I suppose) is good for him. And I think he'll like it, too. Hopefully he has a game plan for that quad sal because he knows it's a problem (duh). Whether that's training it more, changing the combination, or training another quad, or what, I don't know, but I trust him and Brian. They know more about Yuzuru's condition than we do.

To think that if he had added the 3S to the end of the 2S-1Lo combination he would've won. But I love love love him for thinking about the 4S instead :luv17: So yes, I do consider it a huge victory that he won the FS without a 3-jump combo and with a 2S-1Lo combo with negative GOE

Plus, I don't blame Yuzuru for thinking that he had probably done enough :rolleye:

I agree whole heartedly on these two points. I think Yuzu will enjoy this particular battle especially because he is a technician at heart. Yes, his skating is beautiful too and he is a complete skater but it all started with those beautiful jumps for me. They're so beautifully done that it's like its own art form. And he himself has been wanting to up the technical ante. Others (like Javi and Chan) wanted to keep with the status quo and now they have to play catch up or rely on others making mistakes. Not that I am totally counting them out yet either because they can still post big numbers. But Yuzu has that tech drive which is why I'm positive that if he keeps healthy he'll bring us what he intends to bring us. Of course the ice is slippery and it depends on what you do that day but I sensed a new fire from Yuzu here and I hope to see some real magic at this worlds and olympics because of it. (Please and thank you in advance skate gods?:bow::bow:) I am honestly pleased with this podium and I like that there's a lot of respect there among the guys, but my ideal podium switches a couple of places around ;).

I found a lot of new articles published on Monday. Though I cannot translate the whole text, I want to share some of Yuzu's comments in these articles which seem not to have been shared in this thread. My translation is rough with some paraphrasing and probably gramatical mistakes, but these 3 articles were very interesting. Wish someone with better skill could translate the whole text...

About getting silver in pre-Olympic event:
「ソチ五輪のときも負けている。2位だったんで、ゲン担ぎとしてはいいんです」。実はソチ五輪のプレ大会だった12年のグランプリファイナルも2位だった。五輪連覇に向けて悲観材料は何もない。
"I lost in Sochi too. I was second in that competition, so it is good as an omen." Actually he was second at GPF 2012, a pre-Olympic event held in Sochi. There is no reason to be pessimistic about winning consecutive Olympic title.

About what was on his mind before free skating:
「この滑走順は本当に得意で、5番、6番って非常に自信をもって試合に臨むことができていました。それプラス、公式練習から6分間練習の間の時間が短いことによって、本番の感覚がより研ぎ澄まされていたということがあった。だから自信があったし、自信があってリラックスしているプラス、ジャンプに対する執念とか、勝ちにこだわる気持ちだとかそういうものがいい具合にバランスよくなっていたのかなという気持ちがあります」
"I am very good at skating 5th or 6th, so the starting order gave me huge confidence going into the free. Short interval between the official practice and 6 minute warm-up also kept my senses sharp for the real thing. So I was confident, relaxed, plus desperately wanted to land all the jumps and win. Probably all of these created a good balance."

(Despite being defeated by Chen by a narrow margin, Hanyu made a big gain. "Now 5-quads free program is in sight.")

About 5-quads free program:

Another thing he gained from this competition was an experience of "attempting 5 quads in FP" including the popped Salcow.

He said, "I don't want to exclude two triple-axels from my free program, then I have to include another type of quad to jump 5 quads in it. Taking that into account, 5-quads FP is not yet realistic." However, he also said, "I feel that it's in sight now."

"Now I'm in the process of upgrading difficulty each year, and still trying to make my performance perfect. In that sense, I'm not driven by the fear of being chased by younger skaters. Even if I was in 1st or 3rd place in this competition, I would have a lot to pursue. I just want to present a full version of me in competition. In that respect, this competition made me feel that I can still improve."
