Requirements of stsq, there should be two different combinations which consists of 3 difficult turns on different feet, in the second combination where he does twizzle-rocker-counter he did wobble on twizzle, put second foot and instead of rocker he did outstep, so they didn't count whole part of combination that he did on his right foot.

Aaah, thank you for knowledgeable explanation, Marin!

Olympic champion Hanyu defends NHK Trophy title, books spot in Grand Prix Final

“As it took place in Japan, I was able to skate in a warm atmosphere,” Hanyu said, expressing his gratitude for local fans.

“In the short programme, I was able to skate as if I were a rock star while in free skating, I felt the joy of skating,” he said.

With today’s triumph, Hanyu easily qualified for the Grand Prix Final, an annual elite competition which he has won the past three years.

But the defending NHK champion, who placed second in this year’s Skate Canada, said the results fell short of his ideal.

“I still have much work on jumps, while there are many things that I can do for steps and spins,” Hanyu said.

“I will tune up myself firmly, aiming at a good performance at the Grand Prix Final,” he said.

That Canadian judge was very salty. She gave many people, including the Canadians, lower marks than the other judges.

Such a great skate, but so much room for improvement and future big scores... better 4L, land 4S combo, do not stumble during step sequence, add the 3S to second axel, better flying spin, better overall speed at the end... none of those things are serious things, he just missed them this time, so if he can fix them then more points will definitely appear!!!! It is about the peaking, after all.

I cannot stop watching it....

FYI, In case anyone did not know that Canadian judge is Ms Leanna Caron the President of Skate Canada :coffee:

I actually learned that yesterday and thought that a future ISU regulations should ban judges with charges from federations.

Congratulations, Yuzuru! Thank you for such a gift after hard day's work of mine! It's so good to see you happy and flying!

President of US skating gave Boyang higher SS than Patrick so... :hopelessness: they should make a wonderful pair.

I know those performance aren't perfect and you want more but in our hearts always are fill with warmth and happiness when we see you skate like yesterday and today. Congrats Yuzu  :hap57:

Aaww perfect moment to commemorate this victory. (x)

Agreed, it was such a great skate today but there is still plenty of space for improvement! And this is what is brilliant about this guy.
If he lands the 4S combo, gets more GOE on 4Lo, adds a 3S instead of 2S after the axel, improve the spins to level 4s then it can surprass his own world record score.

I also can't stop watching him, he's a phenom.

I'm not sure whether better if longer though. He got a very nice body proportion and slim so even short looks good on him .

Practice

Anyway, Practice schedule for him should be soon. Waiting for news reports after he finishes later.
Taisuke Goto seems to be live tweeting practice reports.
He said Hanyu landed 3A3T after doing 1A (just business). Do multiple single loops before that too. He said Hanyu seems to be doing well on the 3A (though this is not really unexpected or anything)

Actually is it live streamed or open? I saw a fan tweeting about his practice too. S/he could be a journalist or photographer though (said he landed multiple 4Los, landed 4S3T and 4T. Anyone can confirm these?

His FS runthrough from the twitter above + some other : 4Lo, 2S, 3F /// 4S3T (or2T, two conflicting reports here), 2T, 3A3T, 3A1Lo3S last jump seems to be 4T from ina bauer huh?

ETA : Actually many fans are tweeting practice reports so seems like the practice is open for today?

His practice jumps according to twitter: https://twitter.com/yumi_0511/status/802340051464007680

4Lo 2S 3F 4S-2T 2T 3A-3T 3A-1Lo-3S 4T

I hope that means he's super confident with landing that 3Lz now...

He even performed a little bit of Seimei. Looks like there were audiences at the practice session? Maybe due to the coming up short dance event?

Now the mystery solved.today the time of opening enterance is in the time of practice. So many fans actually go to see his practice this morning. He recovered 4t replacing final lutz. Its their surprise.

Jackie Wongthink that Yuzuru will actually get a higher score that Javier for a moment. But even though he didn't surpass Javier FS score he's still the first one to get with 300+ score. Good Job Yuzu

I'm not sure if this has been posted yet since I haven't gone through the past few pages thoroughly but I really wanted to see the board push for SP and didn't get that but here it is for the FS!

That pooh head squeeze

He was exceedingly jovial this entire event. He really loves competing in Japan!

It's the 4Lo and that lean, I can't believe how he landed that so I slowed it down and look at this knee bend, so deep

News, Articles & Translations

Someone on twitter is posting some quotes from the press conference I think? https://twitter.com/pandaatlarge
Orser said the last few weeks was a turning point of his relationship with Hanyu - they now communicate better, and Brian now understands what Hanyu wants to do in his program. Hanyu said after the talk with Brian and Tracy, training quality has improved a lot.

Hanyu said for this competition is 40% of regrets + 40% of relief + 20% of happiness for him. He felt he finally built the base for his FS.

Johnny Weir also tweeted about his FS performance!
