 I think it lends credence to the theory that Patrick and Yuzuru going after each other (1/2) is bad. :slink:

I've prepared myself for the "you have the gold, no you have the gold" exchange between those two and then Javi comes and swoops the gold. :laugh2: :slink:
Since I'm not streaming his skate live good vibes should be going to him. I swear whenever I live stream my fav skaters they always crash and burn and ppl think PJ is a jinx :sad4:

How lovely !

After the conference, he said sorry to the translater for that his japanese had gone messy.

It was so interesting to hear Yuzuru was struggling with the passive construction in Japanese  (20:00)

Sorry, I couldn't resist laughing

I suppose he might have struggled with the active and passive tenses in English, causing some troubles in his mother tongue, just my guess though

I couldn't understand everything he was saying but from what I could follow I definitely thought that he was mixing some things up but I wasn't totally sure (because, hey, he's the fluent one, not me!), lol. I'm glad I trusted that instinct.:laugh::laugh:

He needs to nail this thing today and don't leave judges any room for doubt because he goes 1st out of top 3;)
4S3T is key, he should do it as the first sal, don't wait to 2nd half but yeah....

after runthru 4S-3T, 4S-3T, 4Lo, calmed down an put on jacket, can we have combo as second jumping pass seriously?

That friggin combo is getting frustrating. If he did not get it by this GPF and/or Nats, he really needs to alter it, either the order in the layout or the timing. It will likely be a tale of the 3Lz3T if not altered. He can do 4S3T just fine on its own, so if not for timing it is completely psychological. :hopelessness:

first of all it's completely not worth waiting with that combo for 2nd half. If he misses it his BV just goes down like a stone. Just do it first and then solo 4S

I'm more scared with his 4sal as final jump. Only thinking that if he pops the second quad he could think about doing it at the final of the program and:slink::dbana:Probably heart attack.
Btw, I read on twitter that Nathan and he had the best practice sesion, so I'm more calm now.

It's not possible to do a 4S at his final jump. Even if he popped the sal, the last 4S must be in a combo, with a 2T for example. The possible scenario of a quad as a final jump is actually if he popped his 4T into a 2T or 3T (Though 3T would be a pain because he has to change one of his 3A with a 3Lo).

GPF – Short Program

SP with no commentary. When the score was about to announced, can hear Brian saying 110?

I put up the entire Universal HD showing of the SPs, there's a bit of discussion about Yuzu over the first 7 minutes during opening & warm-up:

Also, as usual, lots of practice clips from michlmint/upnights: https://www.instagram.com/michlmint/

He took 3 tries to do the 3A one after another, resulting in a beautiful 0.5A(?)-1A-3A sequence in a circle haha: https://www.instagram.com/p/BNxblU9hiAr/?taken-by=michlmint

Did anyone bring these photoes? It's Yuzu when he saw his own 4Lo on a repeat.

The same person that did fancams for last year's GPF :D

Few of the Jr. pairs caught him in the back after his SP and asked to take pictures with him

Sweet of him, since he was probably in a hurry for the post SP interviews.

ANA support to Yuzu on twitter and FB

Gave Pooh a squeezed again (thanks Sydney for capturing this)

Love this

The practice 2S-1Lo-4S

Was the pants this tight at NHK

I love his practice pants, and somehow this purple pants looks kinda the same cutting or maybe not the bottom part . The practice pants I think is a straight cut.
I'm sorry (ok I wish I was sorry but I'm kinda not really) but I think the guy behind him (unintentionally?) sums it up nicely
and someone decided to snap this

composite photo of 4loop. how could he stand and go to the transition?

another news says his gesture of "come on" was not prepared coreo, but the movement hopped up naturally at that time.

GPF News and Translations

Saw the press conference:
1. Lol at him conjugating 認定する he tried so hard at english it affected his japanese
2. It really sounds like he's getting quite close in english. He's still searching for the right words but I get the impression that it's not because he doesn't know the words. Reminds me of going through that stage learning english.
3. "Patrick...Patrick"

Rest up and good luck for the free!

Out of the many, my favorite headlines : "Rock Star" Kurt would be so proud.

COMMENTARY TRANSLATIONS

Quick translation of E2 Dutch commentary:
Yuzuru Hanyu, last year he surprised the whole world at the GPF by skating 110.95, a world record in the SP. The free program, the 330 his total score. Was sort of already too good at the NHK trophy, the regular GPs is mostly to try things out, but tryings everything out in Sapporo already led to an almost perfect program. Let’s see if he’s even better here.
And in that FS in Sapporo he first landed the quad loop cleanly, a jump he also wants to do here in the SP. And here it comes, from steps… oooohhhh, he manages to hold it! Combination quad salchow triple toe loop. “Yes!” (in English) the triple axel.
What a spectacle here in Marseille with the men, and how wonderful that he skated last, well done drawing [that last starting spot], Yuzuru, because the skating order didn’t go on World ranking or skating performances. What a gift for the audience and all of us that we were allowed to see this as ending. What a SP! Let’s go Crazy, Prince, how fitting, purple lila costume, and now *almost* perfect. He will not be completely happy with it, because he really won’t be if it isn’t sublime. that quad loop still had a difficult landing, and we’ll have a look at what he did there. If anybody else drops the tension in the upper body like that, then you really aren’t gonna make it, but he can, with that incredible skating technique of his. That really does help in those jumps, if you can skate that well.
Yes, if he’d landed it [I hope he means landed it cleanly, otherwise he really hadn’t been paying attention!] we would have been witness to a new world record, for sure. Yes, and he was really into it, you can give him high points for components, for presentation, but I wouldn’t give him a 10, because there was that little mistake. He did get tens in Japan for the SP; yes, three if I recall correctly, very nice if you’re sitting there as judge and finally can give a 10. But anyway, here’s the quad loop, four rotations, wow look how he holds his head down here, I think he barely believed he was standing, and on to the quad salchow with the triple toe. It doesn’t even really look like a quad, almost like a triple because it just goes *so easy*. Order visualises the take-off, [skates] along. What I admire so much about Hanyu is that the loop, too, he jumps nicely from steps. He increases the difficulty of his programs but really does fewer steps or less choreography. We did see that with, for example, Nathan Chen, who then skates a quad flip, separately, from steps, but there weren’t actually any steps before it, so it should get -2 from the judges, regardless of the fact that it was a beautiful jump.
Yes, you already said it, a world record it probably won’t be, that’s 110. I think his best score so far this season is 103.89. Well, that will be beaten at NHK, there he had a step out, overturned the jump [uhm?], this was better. It’ll be the second best score ever.
The winner of the SP, but how much will his advantage be? It’s a good thing Patrick Chan skated so well, oooh 106.53, second best score ever, and you see this is the reaction of the Olympic champion, reservedly enthusiastic because it still wasn’t perfect, he wants better, but gets another chance on Saturday in the FS, which this year he already skated rather well in Sapporo. Small 7 points ahead of Patrick Chan, and Fernandez, still managed to get third.

As always, there two are very restrained commentators compared to some. ;-0

Grishin - TAT commentary on Arena TV Channel.
Gr: We just have to see one more SP on this first day of GPF competitions - the SP of the Olympic Champion Yuzuru Hanyu. He turned 22 just a day before the start of the competition.
TAT: Oh, he held on! Oh, what a man! 4Lo.
Gr: 4S-3T combination.
TAT: What a stunning glittering costume which keeps changing its colour slightly all the time - apart from everything else!
Gr: Hanyu is as fantastic as Prince to whose music he's skating.
TAT: That's a genius 3A which I adore! He's showing an absolute freedom of the torso and arms while executing any elements of figure skating, including spins. He's improved very much in conditioning. (when Yuzuru does his on-knee lunge) I haven't seen this yet...
GR: Hanyu is capable of surprising even you?
TAT: Yes, since it's new, re-done. He's got no problem with putting his foot on his head! Bravo! Just bravo! The audience is on their feet, bravo, and I'll stand too, I think. What delight!
Gr: it was worthwhile waiting for this and watching all the other events, supporting (your favourites) and getting nervous. I was watching the audience - they were in an uncontrolled frenzy watching the last 30 seconds of what Hanyu was doing on the ice. There's an incredible number of toys and flowers on the ice. The Japanese fans came here just to watch this.
TAT: It's fantastic! What a program! He looks stunning and free while skating it! He's very talented! Now he's filled up - he used to be very thin, he used to be just a little boy! One could see that he had an enormous talent. The Japanese always get these incredible skaters. Look, his push-off from the ice wasn't good, but he still made it! He still held on! What nerves he got that jump through with, but he didn't just give up on that jump! And here he does (the combination) in just one touch, not one redundant move, no move for getting ready for his second jump in the combination, he's just ready to jump it while he's jumping the first jump. Very flexible - well that's what he was born with. There's he's jumping off a rocker. Here, this thing stunned me - not that he put it on his head. Alexei Yagudin used to put his foot over his head in sit-spin in a similar way. But that he skated on that spread eagle, powerful, very new, all turned over - these people never stop seeking and they find something new when they have such a talented person. This is also worth a lot, the fact that he always bows to his coach.
Gr: Yuzuru has shown who's running the show today (literally:who's the master in this house), he's the only skater to go over 100, his result is 106,53. It's not his record result, but it's beyond the reach for the others. There are nearly 7 points between him and his closest competitor, Patrick Chan.
TAT: He didn't skate for a while, he was getting his foot treated and there were some operations, but he has such a core strength within him, such a desire to win, not just a desire to win, but to perfect himself. Winning comes second - but he strives for perfection. That's what I can wish to everyone!

Comments of the spanish ladies:
- Paloma:. We have only left to watch what Yuzuru Hanyu does. And the bets, a lof of people think Yuzuru can win his 3er consecutive title ???(I think she was mistaken). He won the NHK trophy but he was second at Skate Canada.
- Susana: Woah! 4lo! He fought for it.
- S: 4S-3T combination
- P: There's a women at the crowd that is gonna break her neck (During the first spin)
- P: The japanese crowd is devoted
-P: Oh! What a set up for the 3A
After the program:
- S: Guau
-P:What a program! It's a different style from what we saw the other years. He enjoyed doing it and he made the japanese crowd who came to watch him enjoy too.
Really good!
- S:At the beginning of the season I thought Uf It's difficult to me to watch Yuzuru doing this modern style, but when he does it , it suits him great.
- P: He lives it. He's a bit out of this style but he has sold it. The 3A entry is sensational. He does a very difficult transition from a jump to another, with difficult steps.
-S: He doesn't stop doing turns.
-P:Also doing things with the upper body. And the arms, and the connection with the crowd, drawing attention and he invites the crowd to join the party he is throwing
He had a really god time!
- S:He did it really well. The choreo was great. It suits his style. At the beginning it cost me,I thought this program is gonna be ready or not.Of course it's ready and it's a great work.
-P: And he added the 4lo . We're talking about one of the most difficult jumps.
-S: Yes,because it's an edge jump, the pressure is on the outside edge and keep that edge getting the straight edge to do four revolutions is awesome. The combo, good ice coverage in the 4S and the 3t. The 3a's entry, look at the exit arc and the spins were very difficult with variations and the step sequence was level 4.
-(The TV shows Kikuchi)
S:this man is a bit peculiar.I saw him outside the practices and he always follows Yuzuru
P: This season he earned 103,89 but look at it, 106, 53. Amazing he has seven points of advantage from Patrick. At this moment the trio (Javi, Yuzu and Patrick) is at the front positions.

Edit: Sorry for the mistakes.I'm learning english an it's a bit rough I hope you all ccan understand everything.
