Yuzuru Hanyu: 2016-17 Season

Any news on yuzuru's recovery? I do think it's about time he went to Toronto to continue his training. 4CC, Worlds, and OG are coming sooner than you might think. 5 weeks of training before competetion isn't enough anymore. Also I don't think he should do FOI this year and train in Toronto instead.

Q: What do you think he and his team of coaches are going to do about the second quad sal in the FS? Is his late foot injury the reason he doesn't do the quad toe in combination or he just wants more points (higher BV)? And why not put the quad sal in combinaton at the begining of the program after the quad loop?

Q: do you think he might work on the quad lutz after worlds or is it too risky for Olympic season?

Well, he can't go back if he is still sick. If he is healthy, I guess he will go back in a week or two. Since we still don't know of he will attend that sports ceremony. I actually think doing an ice show might be good for him, to test his programs in front of an audience before competition. FaOI might be too long but at least DOI.
Yuzu is quite stubborn with his layout choices, so I doubt he will change that combination. It would be safer to do it in the first half, but he rarely plays safe.
I think debuting a new type of quad in the Olympic season is too risky. Brian said Yuzu decided to do the 4Lo this season so he doesn't have to go through the struggles of a new quad next year. It wouldn't make sense for him to add it all of a sudden. It took a while for him to add the 4lo and we knew he was landing it consistently in practice. We don't know how consistent the 4Lz is yet. I think he might add it after the Olympics if he doesn't retire.

It does seem risky to add during Olympic season, on the other hand... he did add quad salchow last Olympic season, even though he mostly failed to land in competition that season. With Nathan and Boyang doing their number of quads, and it looks like Shoma is working on the loop, etc etc. He just might? There are all these comparisons of Yuzu to the Yuri on Ice characters, but honestly Yuzu himself (the things that happen to him and what he puts himself through) is dramatic enough for anime. My poor heart :drama:

I think ice shows tended to be a good thing for Yuzu. For testing his program (which he did with Seimei?) but also in terms of improving skills. He mentioned in some interview that a lot of his jumps came through during ice show practices, etc.

Of course, I am not saying he should go back if he is still sick, I am only saying that last season it seemed as if he didn't have enough time to practice before worlds even though he didn't go to 4CC. (I am only saying because the Olympics is just a year away, he should focus more on training and less on doing shows).

Not true....he added the quad salchow the season before the Olympics in 2012 (Notre dame de Paris program) but yet it was unsuccessful most of the time.

Ahh thanks for correcting!

I think I got the wrong impression from one of his interviews with Shuzo-san. This bit where he mentions how Brian wanted him to stick to 4T, but then Yuzu refused because if he did that then he feels behind for 2018. Made me think it was the first time he added. Oops!

Doubt he'll go back before the 13th.

As for your questions, yes, he's avoiding the 4T due to it but he doesn't need it anyway. The 4S combo is there probably for multiple reasons, including pride to have one in the second half. It's not the little added BV but probably that he plans to switch out the sal for the 4Lz at some point too. He wants it, he won't move it. It's how he's wired. As for the 4Lz, he's been working on it for a good while now, we've been hearing about it little by little. As for it showing up next season he's going to weigh it all and decide. Personally I think it's happening if the success rate is high enough but if it's not, he won't risk it. That Brian too is now saying it's on the horizon means it's probably getting good. There's a good possibility Nathan might show up at PC with five in the FS if he's healthy so there are lots of things to take into consideration. I trust him to know what is best, after all he was very right to insist the 4Lo get added this season, despite all the difficulties.

Hello Yuzuru fans. You might remember, I asked for a Mii from Yuzuru for Miitomo. I decided to make one myself....now it's always asking questions about his favourite food, actress...etc....I have no idea, haha. I thought I might share the QR Code. If anyone is playing on Miitomo, let's dress Yuzuru in the Prince Outfit he deserves!

Check it out here, if interested.

...look who is staring at him again :laugh2:

lol, idk if scali spying yuzu for patrick or purely check him out. In one clip when audience singing happy birthday, he clapped for yuzu instead discussed practice with patrick and zueva :laugh2:
Too bad the video is taken down because the owner doesn't permit it to be repost or gif-ed

It's still up on instagram, it was cute when he heard the fans singing he asked Patrick if it was Yuzu's birthday. :) I think he genuninly can't take his eyes off Yuzu because he's all :roll9: whenever Yuzu's near him (up and down instead of side to side though :p )
