Lol kudos to anyone not located in Japan/Asia trying to fight for good tickets, even for worlds. And imagine if Yuzu announces that its his last comp... I think its better to keep your sanity and go for Milan

Why would it be any different for someone who's in Asia but not Japan? There's preference?

Asia/North America are the only ones I can justify spending on :curse: Even if he doesn't announce it as his last competition, I feel like most fans will be wary of impending retirement at that point and everyone will try to go. Curses.

Not preference, but agencies who knows the in and outs of ticketing/have experience. I know that's how a few Chinese fans got tickets to J-Nationals.

I think he'll go to 2018 worlds. I think if you've already trained a program for the entire season for the Olympics, might as well go to Worlds a few weeks later, right? I know, that's probably not how skaters think...

I'd bet on him going, it is not in his character to miss any competition as long as he is healthy, especially WC . I really think even if he wins in Korea he will not miss Milan, if not (knocks on the wood) I have almost zero doubts about him being there.
Also looking at the pattern of Japanese skaters they usually never miss post Olympic Worlds and they have pretty good record of doing great there. Daisuke/Yuzuru/Mao.

Honestly, even post 2014 when he was pretty often hinting about retiring after 2018 I never believed, especially now when WC 2019 is in Saitama I am almost sure he will stick around at least that year if not even more. His recent interviews are pretty good indication... the guy just loves skating so much and as long as he is hungry of winning and challenging himself with new elements I don't see him retiring yet, also field is pretty exciting now , this is a field Plushy often dreamed to have post 2002 .

So yes, I am going to buy tickets for Milan

I was watching the press conference after the GPF 2016 and Yuzu was saying how he wanted to try and put the quad axel into competition and that it was a dream for him. I find it unlikely that he'll put it into 2018-2019 bc that's when he seems to plan to put the quad lutz in so it must be some time later right?

At 2010 and 2014 Worlds they won four gold medals all together which is really phenomenal (in 2006 one silver and one 4th place).
I think Yuzuru will compete in Milan, except in case of an injury/illness. I don't see a reason why he wouldn't.

Maybe I will go to Milan, because it's really near and also cheaper than Helsinki. Also I'm sure there will be a couple of skaters who will retire after Worlds 2018 and it's a great opportunity to see them competing for the last time.

At another one, it was "not going to think about it, want to focus on Pyeongchang for now".... I agree with this recent talk about quads, etc, that it sounds like there are things he want to try and complete post-Olympics. Several people here have made convincing points about the potential of 4Lz being swapped in, perhaps as early as next season? Probably it depends on Yuzu's progress, but Brian (ice network podcast in December?), who's more conservative about these things, mentioned 4Lz in the horizon, which lends weight...

If you asked me a couple of years ago that he'd do a series of housework products CMs I'd have my sides split right away
He said he does his laundry occasionally tho so I think it's not that hopeless. And he looks great in these casual clothes, I wonder why he still prefers planer clothes even after they dress him so well and make him look so objectively gorgeous. Probably his taste.

On a side note, I agree with those who imply continuation of his career beyond OG 2018, I think he made it pretty obvious by now that his decision has lost its hell-solid ground and he may switch it either way based on his feels after OG. I'm 100% sure he'll at least attend the Worlds 2018, then he may appear one year after at Worlds 2019 and retire completely in front of home crowd.
But he's so in love with skating and he's healthy and mighty, that's why more competitions are very very possible, if not inevitable.
I'll support any decision he makes. Whatever is best for him.

I thought his latest ANA interview has more than confirmed that he wants to compete for the next olympic quad (Beijing). The question left would be whether he would be healthy enough until then and will something change his mind in between. If all is well, I have no doubt he will continue
There are also other reasons why I think so:
1) The whole 4Lz and 4A talk, it is just irrational to do all that in the olympic season. For those to happen, he has to do it past Pyeongchang. And yes, I even doubt he will add 4Lz. The reason is simple, he has yet to adjust to his current FS layout. Unless he skates his FS clean for all the rest of the competition left (4CC, World and WTT), I don't see it happening.
2) When he said he wanted to retire after PC, he was still young, 19-20 y.o. It was the post-olympic season. and the field is not as deep as it is today with young skaters landing 4lz,4f and doing 6 quads. Probably, in his mind, by the time he is going into Pyeongchang, he would have already been a 3x or 4x world champion, land both 4Lz and 4Lo in his program and do a 4-type-quad LP. We know things don't go as planned.
3) Back then when he talked about retirement and becoming a pro, I remembered he said something like : I want to win the second OGM, retired, becoming a pro and thus I became a legend (something like that). He said in his recent interview, that he thought he is still doing easy jump (lol). Just my opinion, but I feel like he will not be satisfied until he does the hardest layout and skate them clean. Call me crazy but the competitive part in him probably will not allow him to retire when younger skaters are doing a layout harder than what he did.

I am going regardless of Hanyu being there or not, I didn't get into figure skating because of him, and although I'd dearly miss him, I am sure there would be plenty of other skaters I could happily obsess over. That, and I really need a good excuse to go visit Italy again, revisit some of my fave cities and see old friends.
