Yuzuru's Short Program Worlds2016 with Swedish commentary (it is not perfect but should be close enough

)

Official commentator: Ladies and gentlemen Yuzuru Hanyu (though she pronounces it Hannu

)
Lotta Falkenbäck (former figure skater) - There he is, the great Japanese (champion)! 25-year old, no sorry, 21-year old Yuzuru Hanyu. Olympic Champion, World Champion 2014, silver medallist last year after Fernandez. He took the world by storm when he arrived in 2012. He jumps so you… He looks like a light (weight) butterfly that floats across the ice, as if nothing is difficult.
Chopin has composed the music
Filip Stiller (former figure skater) - Now he actually has the opportunity to take a proper lead over his competitors, if he nails his elements now. Quad salchow!
Now we shall se if he will also nail the jump combination… Quad toe-triple toe! Fantastic!
LF - As if it was nothing (easy)
FS - And look, we can see that he is already almost at 31 points technically, after (only) two elements.
From nowhere… he executes a triple axel!
LF - OJ oj oj (oj = wow), what a (fit) cap (Swedish expression, similar to ’fits like a glove’ => amazing execution)
FS - Observe him now, playing out his whole register/catalogue in the step sequence
End of program
LS - Everyone is standing up! Every single person, even we are! Because of this achievement/performance by Yuzuru Hanyu from Japan! Oj oj oj oj oj oj oj oj (oj =wow) What a performance he has shown us!
FS - Yes, you can only take your hat off (for him). He dominates the others completely in this competition. He doesn’t just do two quadruples and a triple axel, he does two perfect quadruples, triple and (a) triple axel, and in-between everything is just without fault, and simply simply simply perfect – it is not possible to do better (= execute it better)
LF - We can see Fernandez score, this is almost 10 points ahead… of Fernandez technical (score)
FS - Yes, I think that he is going to break the world record again, and he has already done it twice and both times we (all) said that now, now he will never be able to do it again.
This is so… to be allowed to experience something this great is so big (= it’s such an honour to be here and experience this/see this)!
LF – Yes, this is the most insanely perfect (performance) I’ve ever seen.
Brian Orser, he is of course over the moon too, Hanyu of course is as well, what a discharge (of energy) this is!
FS – And the way he skates in-between the different elements. He starts with just a couple of strokes and he is already at top speed, and his movements to this music it is so sensitive! Everything. He’s got such a sensibility for the music… and up in a quad salchow, four rotations in the air, with BV of 10.5 and he got +3 (GOE) the maximum
LF - Nice spread eagle in the landing and then directly into a deliverance/landing (step?)
FS – (Talking about quad sal) Awarded by the judges with +3 (GOE) for perfect quality
LF - And there we have the combination quad-toe triple-toe
FS – He was strong there, a bit on his way out (of the circle) but managed to salvage the jump and land properly. This is almost the best of everything, triple axel from a counterturn and with a great landing and back into the choreography and magic immediately (again)
LF – It is such a fantastic completeness/whole when he skates
FS – And here he has also shown that he could handle the pressure, his opponents didn’t, great lead for the free skate
LF - He is also so timid! That is the thing as well, he is like… like a happy (carefree) youth, 21-year old but at the same time…*she laughs, seeing Yuzuru yell in the re-play* Great to see him let out some steam/energy/attitude. And look now when he thanks the audience, he is so humble! He is thanking his coach. He is so Japanese. He’s personal best is 110.95.
Oh come on now… 110.56! He didn’t beat it, but almost! Oj oj oj what a lead he takes. It is insane! Fernandez had 98.52!
FS - It is completely astonishing that he manages to perform this (program so well)! At the highest possible level with the highest possible pressure – that he manages it!
LS - And also that he is so timid/humble (= opposite of stuck-up, aggressive) and thanks everyone and is so humble! He has such a fantastic charisma in all his humbleness/simplicity…Yes, now we can breathe again because now Hanyu has skated…
Translator’s notes: Timid is not a perfect translation (there isn’t one perfect word for it). The Swedish word vän (as an adjective) here means a combination between timid/friendly/innocent/carefree - the opposite of aggressive. Lotta means it in a mostly positive way, but she is also happy when Yuzuru yells after the sp, since she takes it as an indicator that he is aggressive in a positive competitive way (she knows he is before as well, what she muses on is the interesting contrast she believes he displays – seeming so timid in behaviour while at the same time being so “on” competitively).
