More isn't always better :( Certainly not enough to declare that Yuzu's time might be over or something...

People say whatever they want. But quad for quad, I don't think anyone will deny that Yuzu's spread eagle sandwiched/brilliant steps in and out/beautiful flow and height/effortless landings on his quads are better than Nathan's best.

They have been saying Nathan does quads without effort... But then i wonder if they have really seen Yuzu skate...
Everyone one page #3593 has Yuzu avatar so far. It's historical, isn't it?

Ok it's been enough for today. I need my glass of wine now and then off the bed. :bed:

A whole new meaning to Yuzuru Hanyu fan Fest

Idk...it doesn't look effortless to me. Like, he clearly sets them up for a long time and doesn't have much choreography coming out of them.

Some people think landed = effortless, unless there's an obvious bite to the landing or a dance a la LGC at the GPF

But this page hasn't finished yet!

Or maybe we're too spoiled thanks to Yuzuru by now
Also, did anyone else notice how tall he looked in comparison with Nathan and Shoma? And he hasn't updated his height still

If both SP and FS are clean, true.

But this is the day where Patrick Chan gets 8.75 for skating skills. Twice. Frankly that shocked me more than anything else in some way. But it's a good warning that judges can be very, very messy. Yuzuru actually got a 9.00, as well as Patrick, from the same judge. Boggles the mind.

I didnt go through others' protocols in detail but this is :shocked:This can be seen as the hardest punishment on Patrick in my opinion

Who cares about winning, as long as Yuzu is in medal contention and we have photos to ogle over.......

Well i did say that some... elements  needed to be considered for PCS  that would surely make him win (and given how long his hair is now, yes, it also needs 3+GOE for the hair )
Smiley Yuzu! On ice photos are always nice to have

I dont think anyone had scored this high with a BV of 39.55 QUALITY (state in BOLD if not already) saved the day. No to mention he lost 0.4 for spin level and 0.6 for stsq:dance3:

SP commentary by the ESP ITA, translated into Japanese, and roughly translated into English here XD

They noted that his 6-min warmup wasn't good.

(During performance)

A: Quad loop with spread eagle entry and exit

M: Judges please give him +2. At the very least.

A: That was phenomenal. The best quad loop Yuzuru has executed in the short program so far.

M: +2.

A: Nooooo.... 2S/3T. I can't believe it. It's a big miss.

M: He'll lose 10 points from this... or 9.

A: Same salchow he missed in the warm-up. Triple axel. As usual for Yuzuru, but still extraordinary. His last element is a combination spin, he'll probably reach around 50 TES, so he lost less than 10 pts.

(After performance)

M: The difference in BV between 2S and 4S is 9.2. And of course, with 4S you can get a max GOE of +3. With the 2S3T, the most he can get is +2.1. Even though it's low value it's still valid. But with 1 quad, 2 triples he got close to 50 TES. (laughs)

A: Indeed.

But I must reiterate that the quad loop executed by Yuzuru here is the best he's ever done so far. Which means it's the best quad loop ever landed in competition ever.

M: Considering the GOE of an almost perfect quad loop, I honestly thought he'd get higher TES. Which means, it's not impossible to reach 100 points with this content. Because he reached almost 111 with 4T, which is of lower BV than 4L.

A: Of course.

But... this time... I think it's impossible to get 100 with just one quad.

M: Right, but that's because he left GOE points on the table in his other elements. ......

So we'll see what PCS he gets. Nathan Chen got 43.54, theoretically it's possible for Yuzuru to get 5 points over Nathan here. The transitions in this program is much richer.

A: Without a doubt, it's a richer program. And it was a good performance.

(Reviewing 4L)
But... pity. A real pity.
With that 4L, he might have broken the WR again.

(Reviewing 3A)
Here he lands 3A with ease and lightness. Taking off from a back counter. You should see how he lands and immediately links it to another movement.

What Hanyu is doing here is very complex figure skating. The program was packed with transitions.

(skipping a bunch of math over his scores)

M: 97.04. With a 3T combo. (laughs)
A: 3T is the lowest-scoring combo possible.

Italian commentators win best Yuzuru commentary award!

Thank you for the translation! They seem pretty chill about it so I don't think it was a disaster at all

They're always supportive of what he does and understanding of how high he is aiming for. They're the ones who proclaimed his type of skating "folly" after all. <3

I don't know about chill. You probably want to watch the video to get a sense... It is Italian to Japanese to English after all.

All sorts of thoughts are still swirling around in my head, I don't really know what to say. But I really like our messy fan fest :luv17:

:coffee: I hope Yuzuru slept well. So much to do on Saturday and Sunday! Here's to fruitful practice sessions tomorrow for Yuzuru and renewed assurance in his training.
Honestly if I had a magic wand and a wish to grant, it's either that he never gets injured or he's able to trust his experience and his training wholeheartedly.

Lol, I wish that love can power someone's wings and help them fly. Then he would be the fastest, highest jumper in all of figure skating :luv17:

I actually expect Yuzu to do well in the FS, considering he's historically been very good at playing 'catch up' in free when he did not go into it with a lead. It motivates him, and forces him to do well regardless of knowing what his opponents will score in the free. I think his facial expression at the K&C was showing that he's excited for the FS. Ahhh can't wait!
