I prefer Crown Prince... Prince Regent means he's basically a place holder because the real monarch is ill or unable to perform his duties in some way....

(and wasn't Plushy called the Ice King? I'm sure Yuzu will always think of Plushy as the king and wouldn't have the heart to usurp the title...)

Princes? Please. Dime a dozen.

There is only one Emperor of skating.

 <--- me, trying to understand why people would still want to call Yuzu the ice prince. The point isn't even what he looks like, it's what he skates like. And if you watch him skate well, you know that ain't no feeble little prince, that's the damn king right there

(PS: I don't even think he looks like a prince anymore. Look at his face after Seimei at 2015 GPF, Chopin at WC 2016, during 2015 GPF LGC... he's commanding and fierce  )

Talking about prince or king.. I remember a commentator (forget who) said, "we are watching the president, CEO of figure skating (yuzu), right here, right now"

That's from the CBC commentary from his 2015 NHK Seimei! I think the ladies name is Sandra?

(Can't lie, I'm mildly proud of myself for knowing that instantly without having to look it up  )

Well in any case he has his very own planet...

wooohoooo >56,000 posts

I'm a little bitter about missing out on the 50,000th post by 1 post :(

but alas, I was only a newbie Yuzuru Hanyu fan at that time, so I didn't deserve the title anyway

(Also, wow that was only a few months ago...)

I'll be right here for post number 100,000

When I think of Prince Regent I think of George IV of England, who was lazy, lived an extravagant lifestyle and was disliked by his people for all his excess... so I have a negative view of Prince Regents!! So no, our little Yuzu is no Prince Regent, lol!!

Edit: that CBC commentator who named him CEO etc., was Carol Lane.

King of Planet Hanyu :D I wonder if the only thing you need to live there is to be able to do a quad jump...

Don't ask me about any comments on any other skater, even those I really love. My head is very selective, and it's not as if I was trying

You could be the first person turned on by H&L - I've mostly heard disdainful comments about the program outside Hanyu fan circle, alas! Welcome to the fold!

Thanks for the welcome! Yeah I don't understand the disdain people have for this program. It's different but it's so perfect. I watched it with some figure skating outsiders and forced them to keep their focus during it because it is beautiful. I want a perfect performance and worlds but I still find myself rewatching NHK this season because that was the moment I noticed it.

Well, you can have lots of princes, but only one Crown Prince.

Let them come for him I say.

It's incredible to think of his talent when he won Junior Worlds at 15 and had podium finishes his first year on the senior circuit all while training with around 2/3 training time of his competitors because he couldn't get enough training time at Sendai. It's even more incredible to think that at 17 he was able to win the bronze at Worlds skating with a broken ankle on 1 leg and an injured foot on the other after losing a year of training because of the earthquake.

He decided to stay in Sendai during his younger years rather than move somewhere else in Japan with better facilities and training programs as he obviously loves his family and hometown very much but I believe his decision to stay limited his growth because Sendai rink couldn't give him enough quality training time. Hence why there's been such a big improvement since moving to Orser. And the growth has been exponential. I don't think he's anywhere near his full potential and the faster his competitors grow, the faster he will grow too because he hates losing.

Maybe as fans we should be thanking Nathan for pushing the quads forward lolol. I know Brian thinks Yuzu is too focused on jumps so he probably hasn't had Yuzu do serious jump training. Nathan has probably changed that. Brian + Yuzu focusing on jumps has never happened. What can they achieve together? I'm excited.
