^thank you! i somehow thought it was more recent than that (lysaceck being there should've tipped me off lol)

Hello! I've been lurking on this thread for quite a while but I never had the courage to introduce myself until now. I think seeing all these new members post gave me a bit of a confidence boost. ;) I'm quite new to figure skating; I started watching it after YouTube recommended me a fs video in January. I adored what I saw and spent a few hours watching fs videos, and naturally I came across Yuzuru. I actually remember him from the Sochi Olympics, since he was Tumblr's sweetheart at the time...I understood why immediately! I don't have a concrete favorite yet, but I enjoy Yuzuru's skating a lot and look forward to seeing how he grows in the future. :agree: The first competition that I streamed was 4CC and oh my goodness the anxiety...I was holding my breath and clutching my chest while Yuzuru was skating because my heart was beating so quickly! I'm not quite sure how you guys deal with that all the time, but I'm glad I won't be alone in my panic. :p

Hi! We're quite similar! I'm also quite new to FS, remember Yuzu fro Sochi and mostly just watched FS post-Sochi through youtube recommendations  Some tumblrs I follow happened to be FS fans which lead me to actually want to follow it more

Post a lot!

Does anyone know for which type of program is this CM for?

It's another TV program on 6th March (Mon), the title is 成功の遺伝史 Seiko no Idenshi (遺伝史 may be a created word from 遺伝子- genes and 歴史- history) - It might be translated "History about DNA of Success", I'm not sure. I even don't know the difference of genes and DNA.

It seems to be an introduction program of successful Japanese including Yuzuru and Takeshi Kitano. I don't know how much minutes would be shared for Yuzuru

Welcome to the crazy world of figure skating and even crazier, this fandom!

:thank: Japanese speakers like you are always life saviours here.

Genes are the sections of the DNA molecule that contain the genetic information since not all of the DNA is made of genetic sequences, some are structural or are involved in regulating the use of this genetic information; so a gene is a specified sequence of the DNA. Irrelevant for this thread but didn't want to leave you hanging k.

:yay: Thank you, Lambari. This thread gives me so much information aside from figure skating. (I hope I could understand correctly what you explained though )

I remember an interview after GPF 2015 where he mentioned that Javi's performance and the crowd cheering Javi really upped his competitive spirit before his skate. When Javi's score was announced he thought "that's a really good score I have to beat it". Then when he went on the ice and the crowd started chanting "Javi, Javi..." he thought "I'm the one skating now!" so he went around the rink and did a huge triple axel ending with power Seimei arms as if to say "I'm here. The one you should be watching is me". Then later he said that the reason he cried after his skate was because he felt a lot of fear but hadn't realised it until then. I guess his need to beat Javi and win the crowd won over his nervousness.

After NHK Trophy I also remember him saying that Boyang's performance also fired him up. He seems like the type of competitor that does well when there's someone to beat. The adrenaline from his competitiveness seems to help him overcomes his nerves. On skating first, maybe it's good for him because he has less time to overthink or get nervous.

I don't think it affect him much now. It didn't affect him at GPF 16. He knew Nathan's score during FS but he didn't skate as well as NHK 16 when he didn't know, for example. Comparably, he skated last in SP there, without knowing everyone else's score, and he skated his best SP there this season (despite hanging on the 4Lo). I think it is all just in his head. And it is clear that he is trying different ways to shake it off now.

And I always say this, but I don't think people should think that everything he did at GPF and NHK 15, including his routine etc, should be treated as how he should approach his every competition. Those 2 competitions should be treated as an outlier, not as a new normal. Bear in mind, Yuzuru never had a clean SP and LP at the same competition in his entire senior career beside those 2 events (In fact, so does the other top men, they don't have many clean SP and LP in 1 competition). But he has many good/great competition where he only made 1-2 mistakes in total (like GPF 13, GPF 14, worlds 14, 4CC 17 etc). These competitions are the ones where he should look at what has he done right there; and he knew this, he can't go squeaky clean everytime, which is why he is saying what he is trying to do is increase his average performance/score. I think looking at his past 3 competitions, he did pretty well in that area. Let's just wish he can stretch it until worlds and hopefully really peak there.

Aside from Skate Canada SP, I don't see any disaster from Yuzuru this season. People should not forget he is skating to the most complex programs out there, and he still does well enough to place 1st or 2nd in every competition after Sochi (NHK 2014 aside, and I don't blame him for CoC and NHK that season at all).

I think all the other top men would die for his "inconsistency".

What makes me mad about him is the affect on skate order on him, but yeah everyone has their own weakness and maybe Yatagarasu is right, something is not meant to be fixed. I just hope that he will skate 5th or last in the biggest competitions to come.

I know right. Well there is AC FS too, but considering what he had gone through being off-ice and injured and all, I would say that was better than I have ever expected.
The thing about skating order is the fact that he himself addressing that it is his biggest problem. He seems to be not so bothered by peaking, conditioning, or even injuries; but during post-worlds interview he addressed skating order as the main issue when he did not skate well. So, like it or not, he has already played with his own head whenever he received unfavorable draws. :hopelessness:

Hello everybody, another lurker found courage to post  (warning: long post and poor english, sorry)

First of all I want to say thank you to all of you, for the translations, pictures, fancams, links, funny post, your opinions and really everything... Good job, guys :) I've been following this forum for quite a long and had great time reading these posts.

I'm not a new Yuzu fan and definitely not new skating fan, I started following skating during Sasha Cohen period. I have a lot of favourite skaters male or female but for me, none of them is anywhere near to Yuzu. I saw him for the first time during OWG (like many of you) and immediately fell in love with his skating and personality. His performance was just something so unique, so special, so beautiful, so perfect, so effortless, so light, so natural, so much emotions in it... I had goosebumps all over my body.

I love all of his programms and all of his costumes (even requiem  ) and I've watched all of his performances about 100 times (or even more, lol). And what I really love about his performances is that they are never the same. Never. There is always some little detail in his movement or expression or mood or something, that makes it look a little different and exiting to watch again and again. And he's so beautiful and cute and has such a charisma. You can't do nothing but love him :luv17:

But here is my story I'd like to share with you:
Watching his performances at OWG inspired me to start figure skating. I was already 17 at that time, too old to expect miracles but I suddenly wanted to try it so badly. First lessons were difficult and it really was a start from 0. But I enjoyed every second on the ice and after some weeks I started seeing little improvements and the fear of falls slowly disappeared as well. Now it's been 3 years since I started skating and I really can't imagine my life without it anymore. The more I skate, the more I love it. It's incredible, that 3 years ago I couldn't do even a simple damn crossover and now I started landing my first doubles. This is all thanks to Yuzu. Thanks to him I've found my passion for skating and courage to try it.
He's literally changed my life and I thank him every day for that. Not only I was able to find my love for skating, but I also find my boyfriend there at our club. And many new friends there as well, btw all of them looove Yuzu, and our coaches do as well, they used him as example when explaining rhythm of knee bend, etc :) I'm always so proud to be his fan and grin so much, when they mention him  If any of you have ever consider to skate, just do it, it's never late and you will love it!

Unfortunately, I will probably never be able to see him skating live (as I'm a student and I just can't disappear in the middle of the semester :sad21: ) but I'm always ready to cheer for him in front of my pc no matter the daytime. But I'm happy for you guys who had (or will have) chance to see him live, it must be an incredible and unforgettable experience. So all of you who will be in Helsinki, please cheer for him loudly, throw him poohs, and show him how much we love him! He deserves it :)

Is it just me or he looks really pale and tired at 4cc (fs program)? I hope he wasn't sick ..

Edit: he looks tired but at the end he looks strong, finishing his program

WELCOME!! And OMG that is amazing, doubles in 3 years?! I am like you...I was inspired to start skating by Yuna and inspired to skate more consistently/everyday by Yuzu. It's been a little over a year, and all of last year I skated maybe once or twice a week, and recently I started to do it every day. I can do some singles and hoping to do doubles one day :hopelessness: I'm no longer in my teens but my 20s so it may take me longer, but the fact that you're landing doubles when you didn't start as a child is so so so inspiring to me!!
