I agree. When I saw the SBS stroking video of Yuzu and Javi, I was like "Holy crap I know Yuzu's skating is beautiful, but next to Javi you can tell he has an innate 'something special' about him...even when he's just doing backwards crossovers." No dig at Javi, of course, he has his own style, but Yuzu's grace and elegance combined with confidence and control is just  And that can't be learned because it's so basic.

Agreed... The SBS stroking was an interesting choice of clip to me honestly. The use of the body (knees especially) and the flow Yuzuru achieves is amazing to watch. I could watch him do crossovers of this quality all day. Incidentally, my favorite moments to watch at open practice is often at the beginning when he's just stroking to warm up. He really flies then.

I compare it to watching fish swim in a pond. It is relaxing to see the beauty and grace of something on its element. I could have it playing in the background, an endless loop of Yuzu doing crossovers...

Do you have video of Yuzuru and Javi stroking side by side? I lost the link.
Thanks.

He should probably do more crossovers in his programs. Works just fine for Shoma...

Exactly my thoughts. If you want to learn perfect crossovers just watch Yuzuru's warm up videos. It truly helps! And I must confess I borrowed some of his arms and hands movements to practice on ice [emoji4]'

I think that is just simply because yuzu's SS is clearly above him (sorry Javi LU). [emoji3]

Not only better SS. Even in his junior years he had that innate grace that is quite unique and it shows just from the moment he steps on ice.

Anyway, finding videos after worlds would be a pain because fuji blocked everything. Even for junior worlds I can't find any right now. Sigh. :curse:

I do love how Yuzuru just floats (if that makes sense ) in the beginning of LGC with the spread eagles. It is especially evident here and after the 4L https://youtu.be/-jEnGtnY3uI?t=20s between about 0.22-0.37 (practice without jumps, CBC video)

Kinda wish they would film more from this kind of perspective/angle. I really enjoy watching Yuzuru's footwork from Sochi SP that is highlighted brilliantly by the more level-perspective https://youtu.be/Bk6qrBrqAqo?t=2m58s.

It is like he is a sailboat sailing down a quiet river...the smoothness!!

I watched Yuzu's Four Continents long again, he is so firey in the second half. That program makes me confident that he will win worlds, he's in great shape and he wants it so badly. Next week is going to be torture!

I will never ever understand why people don't like H&L, it's so beautiful.

Ah, part 3 and 4 of the Spirit of the Athlete program from last week with english subtitles are up (by YUZU FAIRY):
part 3
part 4

(part 1 & part 2 for those who haven't had the link yet)
