Their "clean" and his "clean" would be different anyway :handw: Their clean is meeting the minimal standard of somewhat staying on their feet.
stepouts + invalid elements = clean, of course, because no fall :hap85:

I FINALLY ARRIVED! Not in Helsinki yet, but in London, and I will fly to Helsinki on Tuesday. I'm so excited :yay: First time in Europe, alone, just to see Yuzuru :luv17:
Unfortunately, my poster got a little wrinkly on the trip, so I'm letting it stretch out![]()
Have fun! Right, I'm getting lots of grey hair next week.![]()
Yes, please! I will appreciate LGC even more!I feel like I'd be just saying what everyone here already thinksBut if he does another great performance of LGC at Worlds.... Well, I'm not sure anybody can stop me
The contrast of quick linear vs wide circular movements in accordance with the music, and the staccato use of toe picks and punctuation of choctaws...

Nathan skates to balletic music in both SP and FS, but I don't consider him balletic at all. I even think that this kind of music and coreography doesn't suit his skating style. His Ex as much better.Yeah... I remember how bored I used to be with Ladies discipline when most of them were aiming at being balletic princessess. Glad that time is over.
Out of Men, though, who is actually a "balletic" skater nowadays? The only ones that come to my mind are Patrick and Denis Ten, and I don't enjoy Patrick's skating much precisely becuse I find his "balletic" posture stiff and his movement too controlled, not free enough. With Nathan, although people love to point out his balletic background, not much of it shines through.
Yes, any other skater has the right to be imperfect, all but Yuzuru. I am really sad about this, because it puts even more pressure on himstepouts + invalid elements = clean, of course, because no fall :hap85:

Although I don't believe in jinxing... If someone did it it seems these commentators are likely to have done it.
I feel so conflicted whenever I watch this program, knowing that he was injured. But it's still so beautiful. (I never brought myself to watch the LP. I don't think I ever will.hwell
In any case, this is my favorite commentary by these two so far! Hope you enjoy it, too, despite my awkward translations.
Let me release this into the world before the influx of real news.![]()

Have a nice and relaxing time in London, narcissa.... once you get to Helsinki I know you'll have fun, but how relaxed you'll be is another storyAny plans for the next few days before Helsinki?
YayExcited for you too. It'll be such a blast and you guys are all meeting up for group photo, etc, yeah?
Maybe let pooh sit on the poster for a little bit ^.^ Take care, have fun, and keep us posted!
Enjoy your stay in London and then in Helsinki! I can imagine how exciting it is for you right now!Have fun!

:Thank you for the translation! Boston SP is my favourite Chopin version. I just try not to think about the final result when watching it. I remember how the audience went completely silent when the music started. Everytime I watch it I forget how to breath.
And commentators definitely jinxed him...![]()
neither do I, I screamed in pain everytime Boston SEIMEI show up in my YT recomendation. Thats why I don't want anything but gold for Yuzu this time, Coz Yuzu himself want it so bad too.

Yuzuru Hanyu, GPF 2015 FS – Russian ESP (LIVE)
- … besides Brian Orser, Geoffrey Buttle and Shae-Lynn Bourne worked with Yuzuru Hanyu, and now it’s the turn for Yuzuru Hanyu’s FS, Seimei, who’s a well-known magician, philosopher, visionary who lived at the turn of the 1st and 2nd millennia AD. They filmed a movie in Japan about his life and Yuzuru Hanyu took the film music score for his FS.
- The first quad – done. He has three planned with a combination.
- One more quad – absolutely clean. He gets 13.36 – this with the 10.3 BV of this quad – that means once again the he gets +3 from all the judges for his execution.
A LONG silence
- (when Yuzu jumps his 4T3T) How well he does it!
An even LONGER silence
- (after Yuzu finishes) You know, we can breathe now, now we can breathe finally…
- That’s just madness! 120,72!
- Of course, he didn’t have a goal of breaking his own record, but he’s not given any other option but do it. I don’t know… the progress in figure skating!
- 120,68!
- 120 technical score!
- And there you have the skaters applauding on their feet! They understand very well the value of such a skate, the value of the whole program – they know how much it takes.
- And this is the second such skate within two weeks! There were just two weeks between the first one and the second one!
- That’s real figure skating!
- That means that he does such skates in his practice sessions…
- And, Andrey, how much time has passed since NHK…
- Two week! I said it was only two weeks!
- Where does he take such strength from?
- Forget strength. Where does he take mood for it?
- Forget mood, how about keeping his peak up (his form up or a functional toning up) in such a state for two weeks?
- Orser said that he went to Canada for two weeks and Hanyu stayed in Japan, he asked to stay, he didn’t go with him and he trained alone. Orser said that they didn’t see each other for two weeks. He said: “I entrusted him (with training) since he’s a very responsible young man.”
- That’s just unbelievable. And when at NHK the judges gave him 118.87 technical score and 216 overall, they put themselves in a situation when the program is executed the same way, they can’t give him anything more….
- No, they can’t…
- You know where it’s taking us? They’ll have to introduce +4 and -4! Now the judges have a right to mark within the range of +3 to -3, right? But with such a skating, guys, how do you grade Hanyu’s skating? +3 isn’t enough for Hanyu’s skating!
- Yes, you’d need a five-mark range, +5.
- What else can you do? Unbelievable, just unbelievable!
- Now, you have the BV+3 and you can’t get anything more!
- Now we have to add one more important thing – there was another historic achievement last night, apart from his improving his own record from 106.33 to 110.95. For one of his components, he got 10 – not separate 10s. How many 10s did he get? So there are nine judges, five components, so there are 45 marks, and I think he got 22 top 10 marks. But for his performance component he got 10 from every judge! So the protocol shows 10!
- Once again, such a gesture of respect to his coach…
- Now they’ll give him some 30 10s here… and now we’ll get the result in the neighbourhood of…
- Oh, I’m afraid to guess… whereabouts?
- 220! We’ll get 220 now!
- Javier kneeling before him and Hanyu to him too… “You won!”
- “You’re a god, you are!”
- Two figure skaters, two friends – it’s so great!
- (when Yuzu gets his 219.48) Well, they didn’t make it by so little!
- So little, true! But some of his exits were…
- And Orser is looking at it… but it’s another world record! The previous one was 216.07, now 219 – just very short of 220. But I think Orser is going to have a huge problem now, because now he has to… I realise that Hanyu is unique in his psychology, but he’s still human. Being a god is very hard psychologically.
- He’s crying… that’s the tension!
- He’s crying, yes! Now Orser has to make him forget this state and prepare him for his Nationals and the World Championship, make him look for motivation…
- He doesn’t know where his tears are coming from – “I don’t want to cry, yet I’m crying!”
- He’s a one-off skater, just unique! I like it that he thanks his coach, thanks the audience, he’s so open, he’s got a childlike openness. Orser says that he’s just a kid who loves playing with figure skating and is great at it.
- It’s not just a game when you break WR one after another.
(they speak about Patrick, Shoma and Javi having fantastic skates too)…
- I think they (Yuzu and Javi) help each other!
- They do, the fact they’re friends and rivals provide them with freedom to skate.
- And – that’ll sound idiotic – they’re just good guys! They live well, they train well and they have a right motivation. I think Orser plays a huge role in it – he know to motivate them in a right way for competitions. He was a top athlete himself, so he went through it himself and he knows it.
Concerning this Kazsport video - I can understand half of it: one of the commentators speaks Russian. The second one speak Kazakh which I can get rudimentary gist of, my own first language being related to Kazakh.
A rather underwhelming commentating, though - I wonder if it's worth the trouble. They sounded unimpressed by his performance and would have put Shoma in front.

The RUS GPF 2015 FS Replay video which gladiolusc has kindly provided has added some more charming details about Yuzu's gloves and fingertips being part of the choreography.Otherwise it's a recap! I can translate it all right - it's much shorter than the live video.

I've been reading lots of comments lately as the yuzu fan fest moves really fast, I saw the list for yuzu videos translations request, so I thought I could help even if it's just a little, this is the first time I do any kind of translations so I would appreciate if you can see mistakes, let me now so I can fix them
SP Worlds 2015 Spanish commentary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cmUP8dKKv8&feature=youtu.be
I think the female commentator is Paloma and the male commentator is Javier Raya? (not sure)
FC: Grand Prix champion, Olympic champion, world champion, from January until now, he's had a somewhat delicate health path, and it's been said that he's foot is injured, we'll see..
MC: Many japanese (fans)
FC: Yes, of course, the closeness... (between Japan and China)
MC: It's full
FC: He's here, training with Brian Orser, 20 years old, defends the title
MC: First jump, 4toe, the two jumps he has left on the second half of the program, 3axel, the combination 3lutz-3toe
FC: great!, ahh, it's a pleasure, how he skates
FC: what a spin combination!, what a spin...
MC: and what a program!
FC: Even though he failed...he failed the 4toe, the landing of the 4toe but he skates so softly, so beautiful, the axel was textbook
MC: the axel, the triple-triple, the two jumps in the second half of the program count more (higher score)...
FC: look! that's incredible
MC: OMG!
FC: Bring the zamboni and pick them all! (talking about all the poohs and flowers on the ice)
FC: Look the 4toe
MC: the quad a little low, it lacks height and... but everything else was perfect
FC: what blades he has (is using), right?
MC: Yes, those (blades) are lighter, and he himself is very light...
FC: (he's) like a feather...
MC: so he flies
FC: look at Kobayashi, the president of the Federation behind Orser (she thought Mr. Kikuchi was the president of JSF)
MC: the doughnut (spin), we also don't see this (spin) normally with the boys
FC: you can see how he secures the axis when he's about to do the second jump after the 3lutz (in the combination jump)
MC: and this variation (spin) as well...
FC: he reminds me of Stéphane Lambiel, the swiss doing spins are magnificent and suddenly it appears and unusual person (she uses the term "rara avis" which can also mean exceptional, uncommon) like this man doing this...
(he is doing that pose like saying) here I am! (she's referring to yuzu's final pose)
great! that was great! now to adjust, to surpass... he's scored 94.08 before, to surpass Javier he needs 92.75, but they are always very equal, they know each other well, they have adjusted the scores at the beginning he had more than 50 points, now it isn't that much,
he's always joking (teasing?) with Brian Orser, they have built a really good human team
MC: he's sweating a lot!
FC: yes, because of the efforts, it's tremendous, and also in recent times, Brian has been coaching him in long-distance because he's (yuzu) been in Japan, first because of his stomach problem and then it was because of his foot (injury), he prefered to stay in Japan and recover there, well, they're going to be very close, both javier and Yuzuru, he's (yuzu) going to first place, he obtains 95.20
MC: what a difficult situation!
FC: he goes into first place, what a difficult situation because he (Brian) has both (skaters first and second), but knowing that
both Yuzuru and Javier get along great, I believe that makes it easier for their coach
MC: if not, it would be difficult
FC: it would be a torment!, well, for the moment yuzuru hanyu is first, Javier Fernandez is second, depending on what Kovtun will do...
LP Worlds 2015 Spanish commentary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C80Yct7Te70&feature=youtu.be
FC: there, he is, the Phantom of the Opera, this boy, 20 years old, gets into this program in a masterfully way, he lives it, he interprets it, he dances to it, he does everything, he has 2 quadruples, one 4salchow at the start, followed by a 4toe coached by Brian Orser, we'll see, the training (practice session) he did this morning was fabulous it begins the final match between yuzuru and javier
MC: first jump of the program, 4salchow, he doubled it
MC: 4toe, has fallen,
MC: 3flip, 3lutz-2toe, 3axel-3toe, 3axel-half loop-3salchow, he always lands these jumps, 3loop
FC: now he is in tune? (maybe more connected?)
MC: with more decision (determination) ... 3lutz
FC: ina bauer, choreographic part
FC: well, look at the technical score, there are 8 points difference (with the leader), it still needs to include the score for the last combination spin, he's exhausted, two of the strongest cards, the two quads at the start, the 4salchow and the 4toe, the first he doubled it, the second... (the recording skips)
FC: yuzuru has done everything he could, it's true that he isn't in his best moment, like we have seen him in other occasions...
MC: he fell on his heel in the 4toe, honestly these two big mistakes he had are the elements? for Spain to get closer to the gold, we still have to wait...
FC: exactly, this morning we were asked in Twitter, the only possibility (to win gold) is that yuzuru had some problem (executing his program) and that Javier does everything well, for the moment, the first phase has already been completed, unfortunately, because
I don't like when the skaters fail, I don't like when the athletes fail, but win by own merit, not by the demerit of others, still you must take advantage of the circumstances of course, and yuzuru today, had 2 mistakes, a fall in a very important moment...
MC: it's a pity that athletes fail when they've been taking everything out in training but that's how the competition is,
FC: well evidently look at the scores in choreography 9.06, the scores for skating, transitions, interpretation, are close to 9, it doesn't surpass, but not doing the first quad and the fall in the second quad are going to deduct a number of points that he need it, and now Javier can take advantage of this, now he (javier) has to go out and do his program and land his 3 quads.
FC: The interpretation is spectacular, this phantom of the opera.
His best score was 194 that he obtained in the GPF in Barcelona, and there you have Denis, Misha, Nam, the three are right now in the first places, let's see where yuzuru hanyu will go, he will place first, he had the advantage, he had 10 points difference over denis ten, he will need 172 to go into the first place, I doubt he will lose that first place but it doesn't depend on him to win the title, it will also depend on what javier will do next...
175 in technical score, 88 in presentation (pcs), he agrees with that score, he is the first to be aware of the situation, and it's true that things are more complicated for him because if javier delivers a good program, he will be ahead as the difference between them is very small he has given a lot of room with this program...
look, look how he (yuzu) cheers (for javi), a really nice gesture from yuzuru cheering for javier
-----
again if you see mistakes please let me know![]()
If you have the time and wouldn't mind I would so love to be able to understand the French commentary from Worlds2012 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lC_lYMOcTfQ&feature=youtu.be They seem to be quite into the performance
Haha yes, they were. With all the "Ohlalalalalalas" you usually only find in american films with french characters. They're the (in)famous Montfort/Dumont/candeloro we were talking about in the posts above
. I love their comment here, even though they were disapointed for Joubert and Amodio, they were fairplay until the end and loved every bit of Yuzu's (and Dai's) performance. (Joubert and Amodio finished 4th and 5th, so, yeah, in a sense Yuzu's "miracle skate" cost a lot to french skaters, when the competition was held in France. That also explains why they're so excited in this vid)
It has already been translated by Yuzusan, here : http://www.goldenskate.com/forum/sh...-to-Media-Only&p=926694&viewfull=1#post926694
there are several translations of their comments in the link, but the one you're looking for is this one :
(I edited it a little bit because I think there were some little mistakes)
Nelson Montfort (NM) Philippe Candeloro (PC) Annick Dumont (AD)
NM: What a great afternoon, because what we are watching now and will watch later in the 20 minutes to come seems crazy, there is a real chance of medal (bronze or silver) for one or two French skaters. That won’t be easy but it is possible. Now Yuzuru Hanyu, young Japanese contender, who eliminated Oda at Japan Championship, which is quite something. He was slightly disappointing yesterday (in the short program), but he is capable of doing much better this afternoon.
PC: So, is he going to stay as gentle as a lamb? (It is a French idiom. PC loves doing jokes because lamb=agneau in French and the pronunciation of “agneau” is almost the same as the one “Hanyu”, in french, that is, where we don't prononounce the "h"). We are going to discover that (as gentle as a lamb) now … he has a lot of qualities and so, look at this quad toe …
AD: Wow … Ohlalalalala, wow!!!
PC: It's the fifth quad of the afternoon … (1:19) here the triple axel, with a preparation out of the ordinary, it is a strong start … (1:33) triple flip, easy, now we’re going to the next.
NM: Let’s notice that this contender is seventh, just behind our French skater Florent Amodio after the short program. Amodio has succeeded in integrating the last group (concerning the order of the passage). It changes all but, we have to wait a moment because, here, regarding what happened yesterday evening, we may approach on a potential podium or a fourth place, he (Hanyu) is very dangerous for Florent.
(2:15) PC: Wow triple flip, look at the flexion work.
AD: Oh …What a … what a sheer will … what a wheer will to hold this jump.
PC: And normally, this jump should result in a fall to the ground.
AD: Of course, he absolutely didn’t put his weight on the right place.
NM: How did he succeed to stay up … I hope we will see the slow motion.
AD: It is just sheer will.
NM: It challenges the gravity … I really hope we’ll see the slow motion …. oh, and so a lot of …
(2:55) AD: No!!! This is unbelievable …
NM: What happened Philippe !...
AD: He has gone on the tip…
PC: Yes, yes, he toppled on the tip.
AD: … it is a novice mistake …
PC: It is not serious, but it costs 1 point…
(3:09) AD: … Oh triple axel, triple axel …. Ohlalala triple toe loop, THIS SKATER IS FANTASTIC !
PC: As I said yesterday, I made few galas with him in Japan last July, he was really very impressive. (3:24) here triple lutz, double toe, followed by another double toe … (3:48) perfect triple loop, it is an almost perfect program.
NM: Despite his novice fault, oh … what a pity, I hope we will see that …
AD: I think even him could not believe it.
PC: I think he is injured on his hand, because of the way that he looked at his hand when he went up after the fall. The triple axel just after the fall was fabulous… So now, we are seeing his step sequence, very fast …. (4:25) and supported by the crowd, especially Japanese. There are many of them this afternoon at Nice's Palais des Expositions … (4:47) he is light so he can hold the program a little bit longer but we can feel he's becoming tired.
(4:57) AD: Ohlala, he gave everything, he can't do anything more
(5:10) PC: here with a spin out of the ordinary, very rare in the men’s category.
AD: It is wonderful, this is a sporting feat. Oh he can be happy, I think he has no energy anymore, he pushed himself to the limit. I have the impression that he is injured … but this fall that no one expected, even himself … he is exhausted.
PC: I think his hand is injured.
AD: I don’t know if it is his hand, or ankle … I don’t know.
PC: Look at how he is sweating, we haven't seen that for any skater this afternoon.
AD: He gave the best of himself, even beyond that. He may collapse before leaving the ice rink…. So many Japanese in this rink
Then Annick Dumond sums up the jumps that he did (she admires the quad toe, and she said that it deserves at least 2 GOE points, same for Axel) and she cannot believe the fall, that it is a novice mistake, and in skating school, we explain that we must pay attention to the tips because there are big tips on the front of the blade and we always could verify to not attach it into the ice.
Then the slow motion is coming, they expect the triple flip motion but it is not on display. She underlines the fact that he makes his triple axel with very difficult entrance, let’s just say that he adds difficulties himself. After the fall, he did a triple axel and that is amazing, really amazing. Phillipe added that this type of fall could quickly disturb any skater. He said he would have stopped the program directly, and then gone to the infirmary (joking). When the camera focuses on Hanyu’s face, Annick says “ohlalala my god, his face”. Then, they said normally Hanyu should lead the competition at that moment, by far. When the score is coming, they're worried for their French skaters Amodio and Joubert and thankfully for them, Hanyu does not belong to the last group in the order of the passage, but still, he is a serious menace.

It reminds me, a few days ago I heard a chronicle on the radio, that said that the epithome of beauty was androgynous beauty, since it had what make both males and females beautiful. I immediately thought about Yuzuru and decided this commentator was definitely right![]()
I bought Figure Skating Magazine, which I really enjoyed. They were out on Amazon for a bit, but they're going to restock on 9th.

From around TdF this season I believe.
You can find the Skate Canada SP broadcast by TSN here, including fluff and all. All my Let's go crazy's on Youtube have been taken down due to copyrights so I'm doing all backup on google drive now.
On the other hand, if you don't mind, would you be so kind to consider translating the 2012 World LP commentary? We already have the deux version that's translated by our own Pika on this thread, but there is also this France2 version which is commented by Nelson Monfort, Philippe Candeloro and Annick Dumont (copying straight from the YT clip description) :yay: Would definitely be interested in what they said about our little Romeo back in the days.
All these poor people stuck with only footage from Amino Vital CM for MAD's in that vein. The first one is excellently cut by the way...
.... she also made this beautiful, beautiful MAD with all of Yuzu's movements perfectly set to Just Like Fire (and it's her first time making a MAD :shocked(my favorite bit is 2:41 from H&L step sequence)!
Seiko no Idenshi
I learned that 成功の遺伝史 is a combined word of 遺伝 iden (inheritance) and 歴史 rekishi (history), and maybe using the sound of Idenshi (genes) for the word.

The new "P&G Yuzu Days" has been translated by Angelica Yuzu, bless her ! This time it's about his "hate to lose" and "kuyashii" feelings, enjoy !
Oh, I didn't know niconico, amazing stuff !
No, I was thinking about another website... sorry I couldn't find the time to get the link yesterday evening, but I don't forget, I swear !
As for Nathalie Péchalat... she does say nice things about him though, such as it's obvious how much Yuzu loves skating, and it's infectious and makes his programs unique.
But I must admit that I was shocked by one of her comments, at least I think it was her, some years ago (about R&J 2 I think ? I'll have to check) - she said that she thought it was too bad that men were doing the same kind of stuff as ladies (ina bauer, bielman...), that she would rather that men and ladies kept their specific styles and elements - and about Jason Brown, that he wasn't manly enough...
One of the reasons I love figure skating is that for once you don't have to be your stereotypical macho man in order to win - and Yuzu's androgynous style makes him really unique, a bit alien, yes ((c) Max Ambesi), but totally fascinating. And I love that he's totally comfortable with that idea, about playing both Romeo and Juliet in R&J 2, about playing a manly Prince in LGC and an ethereal fairy-like character in H&L, and even saying that he could have been an onnagata if he had played in kabuki.
About the France TV 2012 World commentary, it had already been translated and I slightly edited the translation here.
I'll probably edit it once more at home, while listening to the video.

I was looking for this material explaining about Shinto, because Yuzuru's FS "Hope & Legacy" reminded me of the colors used in it. Shinto is said to be a religion, but Japanese may feel rather uncomfortable to call it a religion, as it is so deeply rooted in our life without knowing it. To me, it is the Nature itself that we cannot escape from being the part of it, with both awe and gratitude. Sorry, I'm in the mood to be a poet today.

The french videos are here... but they haven't uploaded 4CC french esp. So in fact I don't know where to find them, sorry..
I haven't seen one around, so I just started a google spreadsheet. How about something like this?

Wonderful! I was thinking of doing something similar for everyone to contribute to the list. And that's about how I would do it too ^_~
I had some links to the older season translation works. So perhaps we can do one tab per season, if that's ok with you. Is the list open for edit? Or I can PM the links to you.
Yep it's open for edit! Everyone's free to contribute
One tab per season makes so much more sense. I can take away the year then.
That's a nice idea

Happy to contribute :agree: as someone who really enjoys learning about the sportand just hearing people gushing over YuzuruI really enjoy hearing different commentaries from different countries
About how to allow people to add subtitles, I found this: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/6052538?hl=en&ref_topic=7295414. Hope it helps
I don't mind helping with editing or adding subtitles if you - or anyone else - wants any helpright now I'm trying to get hold of recorded Swedish broadcasts, problem is though that I am in the UK at the moment, so the few ones that are available are not playing for me
Thank you for the translation! Boston SP is my favourite Chopin version. I just try not to think about the final result when watching it. I remember how the audience went completely silent when the music started. Everytime I watch it I forget how to breath.
And commentators definitely jinxed him...![]()
