sorry, but the one thing that stands out is the commentator going "this is the one he's been waiting for because he's not had a performance like this since he won the Olympic gold medal".... whut? I mean, like.... whut??

Such minor things as GPF never register in the minds of these people. Only WC and Olympic Games do.

This part right here, he really seem to change his mindset about the olympics, and it actually makes me feel at ease (?) somehow. I think this is the first time he really said/sort of implied that he did not aim for second OGM and there is more to his skating career than that (that it was not his main goal). I really like what he said here, he seems to have matured a lot :luv17:
quoting from iron_Klaus translation

About ice shows, should wait until late April/early may the latest, I think if by then they have not announced/confirmed his participation yet, I am inclined to think he won't go to FaOI. If they have had Yuzu's confirmation, they would have had announced it already, there is no reason to hold back the news - because Yuzu = ticket sales. The fact that we still hear no news until now means he/his team is still undecided? :scratch2:

I am expecting announcement of his participation after WTT. I think he will do all 9 shows of Faoi and 3 Doi. Nothing more.

and I thought off-season was long already  imagine how horrible it would be if we only got 1 event per season, 2 every four years.

Hey, I never said there should be fewer tournaments. Au contraire. But you overestimate these people's memories :p It's a good thing they remember he won the Olympics. But they don't remember his long was subpar in fact.
Quite a lot of people were comatose in late 2015. Mishin among them, for instance..

Lol people have short-term memory like that  Next thing we know he will bomb his first GP again and every commentators out there again and again will be so shook and surprised, as if he has never done that for the past 6-7 seasons :p

9 Shows of FaOI is okay I guess though that would mean he would be in Japan for 1 month (and there will be 1 mth of unsupervised training, but I am hoping that he has learn to restrain himself judging form his past interviews). But DOI is in early July right? So it will be 1.5 months in total. from late May to early July. It is not so bad but at the same time... 6 weeks of unsupervised training

Here is a beautiful story by Arianna Franzan on Priamo, a literary blog and publishing house in Italy:
Io, il pattinaggio, Yuzuru e la yuzurite, 10th April, 2017

Google translate is not perfect but I think you can get the gist:

I, skating, Yuzuru and yuzurite (via Google translate)

Yes I admit, I am sick ... sick! Somebody help me for God's sake!

It is not easy to talk about it, I tell you. First, because people do not understand me, and secondly because people do not know anything in general, regarding this matter. I do not want to offend anyone, mind you. But the illness I suffer requires some basic preparation.

Try it you to understand something if you have never practiced a sport called "skating." A sport that as you begin to practice you think will be impossible, that there'll never make it for a ride on yourself with shoes on him, on the move, landing on one foot, even on a skateboard alone, and remain well standing!

My father always told me, "I make you a photo while in the air so the ports to the teacher, the mica knows she then exit from the rolling track for the earth" (nice ...).

But I, on the first try, tac, standing! The happiness at that moment ... I do not know how to explain it! I was perfectly rolled up on myself for over half a turn and I arrived with plastic pose without having caused any hole in the floor! Yes, I said to myself, I will be a champion!!

Thus I had precipitated dall'allenatrice that time I called teacher because you know that the kids, the coaches, they call them "masters".

"Teacher teacher I succeeded !!" I swear, I was not in the skin, I had forgotten in an instant to have breaks at the foot of potentially weapons-femur. I had approached her in full control, turning and braking as only the samples (which I would certainly become), do. She looked at me with that big of what they say to a child "... Bravooo bravissimoooo" because kids should always encourage them, make jokes? They could grow with insecurities, have teenage problems, the misfits become adults. I in my turn I had watched it with that of the child who says "yes yes treat me as well as deficient, you do not know who you have in front! Now see how you remain open-mouthed, cute! I drew the best of the three jump you've ever seen in your life. "

Already I saw her running from my parents to tell them 'this little girl and a wonder!! The gift of skating lessons myself, I take her home, I will grow and together we will conquer the world. "

And so I set out in the fourth to take a run, it was a great moment and I knew that I would do what jump like no other had done in history! And, in fact, here it is the three-jump combination, a half turn on myself perfect, high, on arrival a firm foot on the ground, the other, free, beautiful ... pulled ... infinity! I had turned triumphant but without overdoing it ... in the end I would be a champion, to me things would always come easy, people would say wow seems so easy made by her, and I had just realised. In short, more and humility, even if you're a genius!

Instead, what I said my "teacher" was something that in an instant destroyed all the esteem I had won in the previous quarter of an hour. He simply said, and unaware of the pedagogical damage that would unleash "Bravissimaaaaaaa (what could not miss) ... but you do with the other foot ... you do not get with the left, but right." With that smile, Mr. Nice Guy, a smug f******, let's face it.

Then I thought no, the matter of smile, just tried to make the jump as he had told her. It was a disaster. He fell tumbling to the ground with the feeling of having been put into one of those accelerators of gravity for astronauts. A career ruined.

What had happened? Nothing ... I was just left-handed, and she had just thought it had to be condescending, but maybe, maybe, I had to ask with that hand writing usually!
It took months to adapt my body to jump to the right, when I was just ... left-handed left-handed! As Carolina Kostner, to say! Well, I'm left-handed and jumped right! Try it and tell Carolina Kostner to do the same.
Maestra fife!

Maybe that's why I spent a childhood fight with those crooked jumps that seemed to jump off a cliff every time staccavo me from the ground, and now I tell you sick?

But no, but no, it has nothing to do with ... I renounced violently skating at seventeen, and I have given to contemporary dance, which so with that there are no right or the left that take, the turns you have to make them a side and also on the other. And with the free foot in the most ridiculous positions (is art, they say ...).

And everything went well, I was a normal person, a bit 'snobby towards perhaps ice skating, I admit, but normal. Until one day and at a particular time, I remember all too well, unfortunately.

It was on March 30, 2012, on TV gave the figure skating world championships, the men's category. I looked casually enough, there was a game on the iPhone it took me quite some time, I have to say.
But then, at some point he entered the ice, a 17-year-old Japanese, just the age when I finally gave up my dreams of glory.
And in that moment I knew exactly what figure skating is.

All that ice ... white, smooth but furrowed by those blades that made that noise scratched the soul ... and he screamed and fire that enveloped with its flames the poor unsuspecting viewers who found themselves suddenly in the presence of pure elegance, strength, grace, power. All together, all at once. Too much for me, too much for everyone. Mystical experience without notice, in fact. And I with two eyes so in front of the TV that I did not believe it was possible such a thing, that finally I could see in reality what was happening only in my dreams, but real dreams, those that make the night such as this recurring dream of being alone in the ice rink, and skate so well that feeling of flying, without effort, without effort, laughing heartily and screaming "IF HEAVEN EXISTS WANT THAT IS ALL THIS !!".
So that was him. It was something never seen, never...

Seen? I'm talking like a sick person, I am not so, am a girl rather disenchanted, an Aromantic, I hate the fuss... and yet here I am to speak of him as well!! But what he did to me, what? And why am I writing here and now, all of this?

Yuzuru Hanyu (so called our hero) in the meantime, after the famous March 30, 2012 became Olympic champion, world, won four times the final of the Grand Prix, he became an idol at home, a human legend, now we do not are more adequate scores to judge, so that probably because of him will be touched scoring systems after the next Olympics. It has been called alien inhabitant of a planet where the only inhabitant, hologram, King, and now when he arrives in the ice rink of the world distributes Japanese bowing to the fans as if they were blessings.

The fact is that we now have just concluded World Championships in 2017 and Yuzuru has performed the best program ever skated in history... and it's about a week I wake up with his music in my ears, his quad in the eye, while walking on the street so many mini-Yuzu-kun flit around me like little stars, and then it is normal to be here to write, because it is perhaps the only therapy for me. So hyperbole abound, and arriving in thinking, in my delirium sick, that I, poor crystal, thought with the three-jump combination to become a champion in the end I practiced the sport just to be able one day to know this superhuman being, understand the difficulties that runs, majestic jumps, magical transitions. What chance does not exist, it was destiny, and I thank this fate, thanks to live now and to be able to see the spirit of ice skating.

That romantic song when Yuzuru is staring at Boyang. :laugh2: New pairing: Yuzuyang. Yuzuvier, you've been dethroned!

makes sense tho, Yuzu fell for Javi becouse of the 4S, but now Yuzu already outjump him with 4L, so yeahh maybe Yuzuyang is a real deal, 4Lz FTW

Lol people have short-term memory like that  Next thing we know he will bomb his first GP again and every commentators out there again and again will be so shook and surprised, as if he has never done that for the past 6-7 seasons :p

I think after WTT he will be back to Canada to get new choreo as usually except for the last year and come back for Faoi.

That's the Brit, Robin Cousins, ahem, the OGM from Lake Placid :palmf: I genuinely think he has no clue. BBC shows Worlds and Olympics and Eurosport has pretty much taken over so he probably isn't keeping up.

Otherwise I've given up on the whole it's good to see he is human, he can make mistakes after all, etc. Yuzuru and commentators exist in some alternate reality. I think he's so fab he warps space and perception around him so they sort of get a little lost :roll9:

I love Robin Cousins commentating! Hands off!
Just get him straight on history facts, though...

I wonder if he has already shot all of his endorsement/PR stuff by now or he has not yet and is planning to do so in between ice shows (there is 1 week gap between the 2nd and 3rd stop of FaOI iirc), I guess it makes sense that way (so between July to February they can leave him alone, amen). I am inclined to think he has not yet, because there is still WTT where he needs to train and practice.

Cousins I understand (because Chsq level 1 lol I'm sorry robin I will forever remember you for this :p). But even Andi petrillo from CBC or BESP guys are all ?????? when he bomb SC this year , as if he has not bombed it last year or the olympic year (and they all are used to cover GPs). Even Jackie who tweeted every single competition out there was so shook at his SP at SC when the previous yr he scored even lower.
Again, I am not so surprised but it is still amusing to see because they have been doing it every year.

Maybe he has managed already, who knows this guy

Who were the commentators who, during his FS, said he'd never won the World title before? Was it the BESP uncles? Or the BBC?

I did quite like his comments about Yuzu's "feather light landings" and saying we wouldn't be seeing that from anyone else, even Fernandez :handw:. Just reaffirms that he is the best jumper in my eyes because he brings an overall jaw dropping quality that I've never seen :agree2: (though Vincent Zhou's Rippon 4Lz is also quite the jaw dropper)

Robin was completely in awe of the lack of upper body tension in Yuzuru's jumping. Not just in the landing but in the rotation too. I did love the BBC commentary for everyone's FS, factual inaccuracies notwithstanding.

Are there any BBC videos of the other men available anywhere?
