indeed, it's really good to see after kind of 'rocky' season, maybe not in an obvious way, but there was that search for an 'optimal' state, a balance between strong, stable technical side and impactful, moving performance I feel...Then, after Worlds I think that some weight carried by him disappeared, things that were somewhat 'unsettled' clicked into their places; for me, he created some kind of 'bigger space' for his skating and his performance by this FS at Worlds, which now really shows even in his practices, attitude, attack towards every aspect of his skating. He sure wants to give his best and beyond to the audience, but since WTT is in Japan, there's a special 'bond', almost magical, like NHK competitions. Looking forward to see great competition and only best from all.
 
Is it bad that I'm soooo excited for WTT? The thought of seeing LGC, H&L and Swan again makes me really happy :yahoo:

To be honest, the importance of going clean is a general belief of the sport. No one wants to fall or screw up a landing. However, in this particular case, I wonder if this means he'll prefer to go conservative and not add a new jump (4Lz) to improve his chances of going clean. But then he might have to consider his rival's potential Olympic BV too. It's not an easy decision to make.

At the beginning of the season he was ready to sacrifice consistency in order to stabilize 4lo. I wonder if he is going to do the same with 4Lz. After all 4lo wasn't his biggest headache this season.
 
My thinking about 4lz, he might not do it at WTT and I bet he will not. One reason is: keeping it as secret weapon, not showing to rivals before season start. It can be quite psychological hit for them later. Also putting lo was not a problem but the case is different with lz. When he did the loop, he was one of the first if not the very first man to have it, it was not a burden for him even it wouldn't have been his consistent jump. In case of lz ,there is Boyang whose lz is pure beauty and Nathan who has decent lz. It is matter of pride for Yuzuru. He will bring it when it will be super consistent with all the transitions in and maybe out. He will do it if he feels his lz is better than others, until he thinks it lacks something, he wont do. This is how his mind works I believe.
 
I don't know if the 4Lz will show up at WTT at a practice or not, but I do know that he must bring it out next season. He's never been one to leave the control of his destiny to others and the only way he keeps all the control to himself, considering what is happening with other skaters, is if he introduces the 4Lz. He has no choice.

he has one option without lz, get Zhenia's consistency and skate clean his programs most of the time .. :laugh:

That must be the reason why we haven't seen 4Lz yet. And we know next to nothing about its current state.

Go clean and risk a BV over 10 points lower than, say, Nathan Chen? Who can also go clean with all his six quads, in a reasonable level of clean? What if Shoma adds a new quad too? There's not much GOE and PCS differentiation going on either lately. These are all big questions that Yuzuru needs to consider and yes, adding a 4Lz at least in his FS, even if he keeps a 4-quad program, will make a difference in his BV. We'll have to see if Yuzuru/Brian will share in this belief as well.

Plus, didn't he recently say in answer to (I'm paraphrasing) 'what do you do once you reach the full potential of your programs?' that the only solution was to go higher? 4Lz or bust, Yuzu! :laugh:

No, not really though.
Have you seen the protocols for the Worlds? Shoma had only ~2.5 points less in PCS, even with his troubles. His jumps, such as they are, are never called so he can afford to do whatever. He knows the panel will go la la la on anything and everything, and the judges will still reward him with positive GOEs. He is already working on the 4Lz and if he introduces it, with everything else, and goes clean, especially as I can bet he'll have a 5 quad program for the FS, even consistency won't help Yuzuru. And that's not taking into account what Nathan might do who is going to be way more dangerous next season, especially since it's the Olympics year, USFS pushing, and he'll have more experience now too.

Plus politicking, JSF, the whole better to have a new champion, etc. The way it's going, even with the 4Lz, it'll be a battle.
