Yuzuru Hanyu: 2016-17 Season

Question. Max Ambesi says he has landed a 4A in Toronto once, at least. If this did happen (I assume Max's sources are good), was Yuzu laughing inside while doing this report on the physics of the 4A? :dev2:

Pretty much
Though I mean, to be fair, while Max' sources are good, if we take a careful look at what he said, he said Yuzuru rotated and landed a quad. Apart from those two actual facts, we know nothing. Not if he's training it for real or joked around and actually managed to land it by accident. What I mean is, just landing it confirms for Yuzu that yes, it's doable for him to do it. Everything else, from stabilizing it to including it in competition is going to take a good while, especially for what is a dangerous jump. So I think that's probably what he means but is leaving out. He's starting to believe it is possible - to do it in a program.

Where did he say that? From all I saw he only didn't want to confirm he would put it into the program, not that he won't.
Umm, didn't the journalist ask him "Are you going to include 4Lz during next season going into Olympics?" and he answered "Zenzen nai desu".
Probably I've misinterpreted the question, could you translate it correctly?

Yuzu was asked "Are you going to put 4Lutz next season?", and he answered very quickly "No, I'm not."
But also he said he will improve various skills off-season, implying trying new kinds of jumps.
He said if he trains new jumps during the season, his current jumps often suffer because of the difference of the technique. That's why off-season is good for trying new things.
So we have to wait and see, I think.

hi! i'm new to the forum... my name is Celeste, i'm 16 and i'm from Argentina. i've been into FS in general since october '16 and becoming a fan of Yuzu was one of the best things that happened to me. sadly, winter sports are not popular here (i don't think i've ever seen a latinx skater at competitions), so i'm thankful i got to know such an inspiring athlete/person through social media. it's honestly a privilege to watch him perform, even if its just through videos. i'd die to watch him live someday, tbh.
i've been following him for the last months and i'm proud of everything he's achieved this season!!!
before the next season starts, i want to learn more about the sport technically.. although i've watched his programs countless of times, i've just focused on the beauty of it since i can only tell apart one jump, lol (it's the Axel). how long did it take you guys to identify each jump on the spot? what is the quickest way to learn them?

I just watched the full clip now and he says he isn't planning to put it in his program. so that's clear now. I didn't see the full vid before.
Sorry!

I have to be the perv who is going to say that in this serious discussion I could not help but notice the pause in the landing there and ahem, the position. Quite nice to look at!

But yes. 4A talk
And xeyra is right, he's totally giggling on the inside. Beautiful monster.

Man, now that you pointed it out, I cannot un-see it and look away :palmf::slink:

But, 4A aside, that really drives home how huge his 3A is :jaw:

Thanks for the clarification!
Not sure how to feel about it but he will know what's best for himself. Let's wait and see.

I was going by what Specs said but yes, looking at that now, I still don't see it as a definitive no. What I mean is, the jump is not ready. To confirm yes, he'll do it now, would be jumping the gun. It's too soon, he needs to see how it all works in a program potentially, even if he does want to use it. I think it's better to take it as a wait and see thing. :confused2:

Mhm... that surprises me. And I'm not sure it's the smartest thing to do, given how all of Shoma/Nathan/Boyang are likely to upgrade (and partly have a higher BV already).

But then I hope that means keeping his current layouts, max with 2x 4Lo in the LP. If they seriously take out one of his 3As for a 5th quad I'll quite figure skating and move to a farm far away from TV and internet.

I have a gift

Doesn't it? But if his 3A is huge, just how much of a monster would the 4A be? I keep eyeing my floor for those 1.1 meters and oi vey. Unless you've got decent spatial awareness most won't notice the extra height, but you can't miss that length.

Tbh I don't necessarily believe him when he says he won't add 4lz next season...maybe he doesn't plan to right now or is undecided/under-confident on the jump right now but he might change his mind ... or he's being purposefully misleading

We shall see closer to next season but I'm not gonna rule it out yet hahahaha
