Trying to be the voice of reason and pureness (:rolleye:)
Watching Yuzuru end the encore with the PW pose made me incredibly happy. PW, like for many of us, was the program that brought him to my attention (although i didn't uber him for reasons i've stated many times here). Watching him do that, in the swan costume (the Swan program means a loooooooot to me), "live" again... :luv17:

Interesting, I'll have to go back and look at your reasons. I've been a fan since the legendary RJ1 in Nice. And I rooted for him over Chan for the Olys. But I think I'm only an uber in the past two seasons. My appreciation was always there, but grew gradually more intense over many years, as he matured and improved. As he came closer to his ideal, which is also my ideal. That's when I realized he is a rare genius.

Basically: i was completely detached from FS because it was too painful to see things i would never be able to do. But i saw him skate to PW and i fell in love with his lines, with the way he moved across the ice and naturally i wanted to know more and follow him. But, i knew it was going to be one intense ride with him, i just knew it and my life wasn't in a good place at that moment so i ignored him as much as i could: didn't google him, didn't watch his videos until he popped on the kouhaku and well... Here i am. I tried to ignore him after that again but he kept popping left and right :slink:

Awww yes that was really nice. The gala will be my happy place for a while!!!!! It's packed with moments!
I am also really happy Yuzu did the LGC step sequence for the encore, he could let it go and perform it to its fullest I love it so much :luv17:

I don't mind voices without reason tho.

That reallyyyy makes me want to see all his step sequences in Galas. The potential we are missing out on :drama:

Great sacrifice!!!

Idk, i guess there is a risk that if the invisible mode gets too... steamy someone might take action as some of the things we've said i'm pretty sure were against the rules

This is why Kurt Browning mentioned Yuzuru's landing posture sometime ago. That means he understands Yuzuru's great landing posture has a lot to do with good technique and less risky for the body. I also talked with a Russian specialist and she even told me: "Hanyu is built for these quads!"

The pure technique Yuzuru has does not just show with his remakable take-off without pre-rotation in the toe jumps, it also shows at how his body aligns in the landings. When Yuzuru was tired and still had weak stamina (when he was noodle), he did not have enough core strength to maintain his alignment in the landings but he has become much stronger now, thus we see that he has become more secured. Even when Yuzuru was small, his landing and flow in the good jumps were already perfect. This you can not teach. It's natural born.

And not many people really understands it. They only see the number of quads and that's it. And I think this is why Patrick Chan makes remarks about the quad guys. Patrick is NOT a fool. He knows what he is talking about.

A person who does not care about technique even told me, bad technique doesn't matter and that they get the same injuries as people with good technique. She made me laugh all day. The bad technique only helps you get more surgeries later in life.

I think Patrick gets unreasonable hate for what he says. He does have a point about the quads (especially the bad quads) and how they're rewarded regardless of the technique, even though he isn't playing political correctness.

Yes, Yuzu has good alignment in his jumps (lateral and vertical) and good alignment definitely helps prevent injury. The person who told you that good technique and bad technique lead to the same amount/severity of injuries is clueless.

I also agree that Patrick is not a fool. He knows the risks involved of doing these jumps without the right technique. If the judges choose to throw candies at injury inducing technique they are sending the completely wrong message.

I was wondering : what do you technical specialists think about this (small) critique on Yuzu's jump landing posture ? : http://figureskatingask.tumblr.com/post/159970087357/hello-im-curious-to-know-what-you-mean-when-you

I'm assuming the blogger means this.

I'm not a skating technical specialist but I know about jumps and about balance from dance. What Yuzu is doing there in his upper body is purely aesthetic and doesn't affect his alignment/balance. In dance, this is called contraction and release. This curving forward over the torso is an integral part of modern/contemporary dance movement. I find it ironic the blogger finds it a flaw while I find this movement is very natural and adds a dynamic appeal to jumps.

This is related to "bad posture" complaints. It will come as a shock to these people that such "bad posture" is part of the aesthetic preference of modern dance.

From Shiyue Wang's weibo : Look at the cuties <3

(gotta love Wakababy there )

Yuzu is the prettiest one there (sorry ladies)!
