So far they are nothing but complimentary, (esp yamato, I think? he made several blogpost keep commending/cheering for him and Yuzu invited him for TOI and he seemed to be thankful and really enjoying it). But again they both are "new" and "young". Or maybe they had and I missed things lol. :p

Skating coach IIRC. And true, now that you mention it, I don't think I've seen it either. Might be that they're new but who knows, maybe it'll bloom into a different culture of avoiding such things. One can only hope!
 
I gave up long time ago to imagine how lovely FS world could have been so dont really give a damn. They are entitled to their opinions, that's it:handw:But I lol'd once again they forgot about Jin; I mean, two-times back-to-back world bronze medalist, something most of those former Japanese skaters had never achieved in their career:rofl2:Guess the Jin-ignoring trend is carrying on...

For H&L, Yuzuru had a joyful performance in GPF (at least the first half), a show of of determination in 4CC, and perfect calmness at Worlds, and all three emotions worked very well with the music. What more does anyone want, what is the emotion he needs to show that would make everyone happy :think:

One more thing, why is the talk only about H&L and not LGC? That program shows Yuzuru's performer abilities and is something only he could ever do. Yet, everyone is talking about the mistakes in the jumps and ignoring the artistry in the program :scratch2:

Nobody mentions LGC because it shows that there was no lack of emotions. I believe no one else can do LGC the way Yuzuru did it. Honestly I don't think any current competitive skater can do it. And mistakes in jumps didn't affect his perfomance.

That's what I love about him, isn't he just wonderful? :luv17: He knows the pressures and the games and just goes lol no and skips over the meadow picking flowers that he weaves into flower crowns for people. And when you look closely, the petals still have dew drops on them because it's Oda and he's magical.

Not just that Nobu is so supportive and complementary towards everyone, he's also IMO the one who shows the most insight when he talks about skating. Pointing out technical things and giving some interesting facts. He's the one true gem between the old skaters when it comes to his commentary. Too good for this world indeed :luv17:

As for Dai, I will not go there :roll9:

To be frank they coached mainly top ladies skater (and boy, don't they have a lot of them) and not have a male contender so they should have nothing against him. But Yuzu was pretty chatty to Hamada in Sc talking about Satoko's stsq and seem closer to Tamura because of TOI. They maybe are more approachable to him than someone like Nobuo Sato, Yamada or Nagakubo (generation gap too lol).
Anyway there will be more top skaters coming from anywhere but those two places sooner or later. I don't think Wakaba is affiliated with Kansai/Nagoya? Mai and Kaori too? Imho, these 2 forces (K/N) has many great coaches in teaching SS, presentation and refinement but need help when it comes to jumps. But Mai, Kaori and Wakaba are actually pretty good at both SS and jumps so how it will play out in the future is interesting.
 
But honestly tho, how nice it would be if Japan's domestic competition could be healthy ...

The 1st time I became Yuzu's fan was in Sochi 2014. I watched his subbed documentary videos and used to wonder why, despite so many ice rinks in Japan, none was available for him to train after the tsunami that he needed to join 60+ ice shows to practice and also for building his competitive program. He used to say that it was his dream to become a skater who trained in Japan and suceeded, but the political power game really pushed him away just because he happened to be the outsider.

Now I'm just thankful he has the TCC team he can rely on.

The one person who is truly complimentary towards Yuzuru and doesn't have a bitter bone in his body is Oda. But then Oda is sunshine and rainbows and unicorns packed into a human body that was then sprayed with glitter just for effect.

I am glad that we are in Canada. We praise all skaters and recognize how hard work, hard training they all do, even if they are not tops in the world. I have watched Canadian tv reporting skating competitions many years. They are very fan of Yuzuru, all of the commentators on CBC, TSN, Radio - Canada French. Even the media is always complementary about him. They can criticize, they don't put down other skaters. Maybe I am naive, but I don't see fans war, coaches war, media war against any skater, be he or she is Canadian or not Canadian. I can not imagine someone from Toronto will say negative comments about Osmond because they want to put her down, to the advantage of Gaby. We don't have it here in Canada hopefully.

And what a coincidence that I just watched the subbed video of French commentary on H&L World Champ. And you should really know what they say (in excitement)

speaking about Mai, in SA or CoC one of comentator said she skate like Patrick Chan, and in 4CC one of comentator said she jump like Yuzu. I'm rooting on her the most for the current JPN ladies, hope he will make it big

Oh yes, there was that thing with Hamada and Satoko! He was pretty into it. I am sure the generation gap does play a part.
Wakaba is from Tokyo and Mai and Kaori from Kobe. Wakaba even has some TCC connections, didn't she go to one of those summer skating camps and she's worked with Shae too. But yes, they don't suffer from some of the typical problems K/N skaters do which should probably help long term too.
I am hoping for basically what you mention. When more top skaters start coming from various places and don't get concentrated in a couple of camps even as seniors, it should hopefully start to loosen the grip of the big two.
