It's true you can't please everyone. But it seems the general reaction is even less enthusiastic than the disappointment from some of us fans. He must have big plans to overcome people's skepticism. Surely he and his team must have anticipated there would be this reaction.

Reusing old programs is almost always risky. But messing up the SP is even more risky under today's rule. The top 3 SP finishers skate last and will get more generous scores compared to the rest of the skaters, especially at the Olympics. If a skater drops out of top 3 after the SP, he maybe totally out of medal contention. The risk of reusing a successful old program (even if it's reused for the 3rd time) is still far less than the risk of messing up the SP thus lose and/or be off podium. (It already happened to him a few times last season. He lost or almost lost a few competitions due to messing up his SP.)

He is a skater who really cares about the reaction of the fans or audience, so I'm sure about that. (and personally I'm hoping he doesn't care about us much, just focus on himself)

By the way, some days ago I posted about "Ice Jewel" magazine published on May 29, but fans bought it at Makuhari venue said there was no new information about his new programs.

I think it's a goog strategy. With Chopin as short program he will be able to concentrate on the free program. I'm not worried it will just be merely a repeat - it will be different and unique in its own way.

In today's show, Yuzu landed a 4T in the opening, with Chopin 2Lo, 3A, 4T3T, and in the finale jump battle 1lo, 4Lo fall. A lot of falls in the jump battle from everyone. But Nobu did a 4T3T!

People who attended the show reported that the ice was far from good condition so skaters fell a lot. Also arena seemed a bit small for Yuzuru's SE 4lo. In my opinion he still needs to catch right tempo for lo there. On the other hand his second half jumps were without hesitation, massive and sure for both days. According to some reports Ballade 3.0 reminded them old, original Chopin 1.0 version, several new and quite nice touches added to choreography.
I'm quite happy about his toe, it seems they really found a way to train it avoiding injuries.

Re layout: I am kind of agree with Handomi, He needs to get back the edge he usually had in SP, so going for Lz will be unnecessary risk imo. This layout is still higher by 1.5 pts than last year's so there is still an upgrade and if he is clean he can always score 111-112 with it anytime. I don't see any men outscoring, if he is clean to be honest. So for the SP I feel he needs to get back his good feelings and the edge he used to have. On the other hand I am pretty sure he will go for quad lz and maybe for 5 quad layout in LP.

There has been some snippets from coming new Ice Jewel mag interview, it seems he was talking about the importance of consistency, analyzing Russian strategy and Zhenya's ability of being clean most of the time. Interview will be out soon but so far every step he's taken now ,is making his main goal clear. He wants to focus on jumps and be as much comfortable and consistent as possible.

I don't think he will add 4lz. I believe he will do 5 quads but with 2x4T instead of one axel. His toe is now equally as consistent as 3A and he can do it with great quality in 2nd half

what he gains from that? it is not a bv upgrade ? and his axel combos usually get higher GOE ?

Yuzu is so smart. He is well aware of this consistency issue as judges make it quite clear throughout the last season.
I don't care if he reuses old programs. I'm fine with it as long as he feels comfortable and confident.
I will support and root for him no mater what.
