Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

No NHK, no GPF, no JN, no 4CC.
No Hanyu’s interview or press conference.
No official news from JSF about Yuzu’s health.
Not really a light at the end of the tunnel, just one JSF WD statement left to Olys.

Yuzu must be furious, really the darkest moment in his whole career, it resembles the moments after 2016 Boston. The path to Olys will be the hardest possible for him, if he doesn’t WD.

So happy to know that Yuzu will be at the World Championship too as I will get to see him live! I can't wait to see him at the OG, although I am nervous that it will be his first competition after such a long break. But then again, he is a genius and can no doubt perform amazingly regardless.

No competition for 4 months for Yuzuru as one of my friends said: "He will need to become god again" but who else is able to do it if not Yuzu. I hope he gets at least team event to skate to get the feel of the ice. The things weren't going this season as he wished but there will be always light after overcoming walls. In a sense I am a bit relieved that he is not going there as absolute favorite other guys are dealing with lot of pressure too recently and olympic is the biggest demon. And we see that his LP is still best in gp circuit and his WR of SP still stands untouchable.
Anyways Koboyashi confirmed that he has started practicing on ice since 16 th.
I will cross my fingers for him and pray for him every day. I trust him king of comebacks

Kobayashi from JSF told the media on December 24 that they had a meeting on 16th with Yuzuru's team member in Nagoya. "We chose him because we are seeing he can be ready in time for the Olympics. We were told by his team (in the meeting on 16th) that he got on the ice a little." It is likely that he has not been practicing the jumps yet.

The last sentence seems not to be confirmed by JSF.

It'll be the 5th time I'll see him live and all of them have been so special , that I know this one will be the same:yes: (the first position goes to WC 2012 which made of me a firm devotee)

It will be my first time seeing figure skating live ever! I'm so excited that I get to see my favorite skater perform there :)

Can't wait to see him once again in Milano :luv17:

Hello people,
I assume a lot of you have been to international skating events in the past so I just want to ask if it is worth getting platinum/gold tickets for the events rather than the normal bronze ones. I am a student so I am unsure if it will be worth it to splurge on tickets. Is there any real difference? I am thinking about going to Men's Free and the Exhibition gala and thought I could maybe buy good seats for the gala since the skaters come quite close and interact with the audience. Since it has been announced that Yuzuru will be competing at the Worlds, I really want to go and see him live for the first time. Sportsmen/women have such short (competitive) careers so I want to make sure to see him once in my lifetime.

To me it was worth it. Everything was "better" in a sense, the sound of the blade, the shiny rhinestone of a costume, the wind when they skate past you, etc. However if it is your intention to interact with skaters, in particular Yuzuru, I would advise you to keep you expectation low, since Yuzuru knows the chaos he would cause if he comes close to the audience so he hangs back in comparison to other skaters. He is unlikely to high-five you or sign autographs as some others may do. Just my two cents. :)

Dear giulia95, Merry Christmas to you and I hope your thoughts will be lighter this holiday season!

If you can afford it, yes:biggrin:.

You will love it! A year ago I went to Skate Canada International and we had amazing seats! They were the first row right behind where the coach and skater stand before their warm ups ....it was so cool!

Closer to the ice is definitely worth it if you can afford it! The skaters skate by you so close, try to go to practice too if you can, more time to watch skaters do their thing and see how their work.

That reminds me, Merry Christmas to Yuzuru Hanyu, to all of us his fans! May the year 2018 bring even more fortune to Yuzuru. Cheers! :hb::rock:
