Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

Yuzuru talks about FOOD. It was aired in September 2010. He seems he likes oily food like fat meat or McDonald's

Yuzuru: What I'm into now is Tonkatsu (pork cutlet). Tonkatsu or Gyoza (dumplings). I like Loin. I rather like fat meat.

Man: How about Gyoza?

Y: I like Gyoza my family makes.

M: What is in that?

Y: Umm, it doesn't have garlic, it is vegetable gyoza basically and has quite a lot of ginger.

Q: What earphones are you currently using?

A: Recently various Bluetooth compatible earphones have been released, and even among wireless earphones there are also really many different types. As they are completely wireless I’m completely into them. (laughs)...

Im 2018 Press conference he also said he likes McDonald's, soft drinks and potato chips... Lol fattening diet but Yuzuru never gets fat

I know they have to be mindful of their weight but I don’t know why I was surprised when I read this...
He is not anorexic if that's what some people think when they read this. I assure everyone yuzu has a hard time putting on weight than losing it. He said so himself in numerous interviews

Woah no! thats not what I meant at all. Never crossed my mind that he’d be anorexic or anything. Sorry if that came out wrong. I’m pretty used to seeing guys with his body type so it’s pretty common imo. I never actually thought he needs to gain weight or eat more. If anything, my surprise is more on the side of “he doesn’t put on weight easily why does he bother to weigh him self lol” - I’m kind of like that, I just don’t weigh myself much since I know I’m not gaining though I eat quite a lot. But I understand that most athletes across various sports have to be mindful of their weight to maximize performance and etc. and by being mindful of their weight, it can go either way - not to gain or lose too much.

So yeah, i think its just the mental image of him weighing himself regularly or something like that that surprised me 😂

I think one of the reasons he has to measure his weight is that he might have to report it to Ajinomoto which has been supporting his diet during the season. I've read Mai Mihara (sorry if I'm wrong but I think it was her) said she had been sending photos of each meal she had in a day to Ajinomoto

Oh I see, thank you! Wow... So I guess Ajinomoto help design their diet plans? That would make sense since they would need those numbers to adjust accordingly.

(eta: ‘diet’ as in food in general, not the losing-weight ‘diet’)

Gosh that would be tiresome. Hope yuzu doesn't have to do that

Don´t think so.

Sometimes people just weight themselves. I weight myself daily, mostly because I have problems in my hip bones and any weight gained will be trouble.

Yuzuru said in one of the interviews last year after WC that he had just started to care about his body weight recently, he didn't think about it until a year ago or so and didn't even put on the weight scale. So he might have created a new strategy with Ajinomoto in the last few years, but that is only my guess.

I think it is good to measure the body weight daily in general, to being stay healthy :) I'm doing it about once a week, but maybe I should do it more
