Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

Me too, and not happy with this, recently too many people begin sharing lots of translations , we are all thankful for their efforts but please, if you are unsure or it is tricky part please leave it to experienced translators or Japanese native speakers. Such translations can be quite misleading and worrisome for fans who don't speak Japanese. I have read quite a lot inaccurate ones recently. I am not undervaluing efforts nor being ungrateful but, if there is something you are unsure of please say it or recheck with others. Fandom is big and inaccuracy causes unneeded worries .

Translations are tricky, and I admit, I make mistakes too when I translate. So please feel free to ask questions and point out errors when you find them or want to clarify. It's something we should discuss freely so the best possible translation is made.

I knew he would sing along, I knew it!! :rofl2: Because that song is for everybody to sing and wave hands, I can imagine in my head skaters and audience doing together already.

It's the song from our childhood. But do the young skaters now, like Rika, Kazuki and Sota know it? (as someone who grew up without any jpop influence, the fact that I know this song, shows how viral it was back in the 90's )

What's the story behind this song? Is it like the equivalent of out Backstreet Boys?

I don't know...(Jpop is a closed book to me) maybe Yude knows? :otopic:

https://twitter.com/olympicchannel/status/1005419236649361408 --And another post by Olympic channel about the JOC award.

Others have mentioned this, but Yuzu's least favorite color is silver.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8K0vhmQvm4 one more clip from today's show. The lady commentators said that Nagano Olympics was held when Yuzu was 4 years old which was the year he began to skate.

Yuzu said, about the loop "I wanted this to be a report that I am now able to jump the loop a little" ---

I echo your post, I often struggle to find accurate and appropriate English word in translating and my vocabulary is limited, so...

I don't know the details either  But the lyrics is very simple and happy, and became big hit. It is a type of song "when you feel down, let's gather and dance together." I'm not sure if Rika and other young skaters know this song, but it's likely if their mothers liked Johnny's. There was a funny moment in the interview at FaOI Kanazawa (I didn't translate it since I couldn't hear them all clearly due to the video quality). When Rika, Akiko, Miki and Yuzuru were asked about Chemistry (or other artists in FaOI?), Yuzuru said he had been familiar with them because their music had been playing at the ice rink, but Rika only answered "My mother..." (cute!), and Miki and Akiko were kind of shocked at her answer saying "generation gap"

Random: I need to know who designed The Swan costume for Yuzu. I have to express my deepest thanks.

This is a part of TV program aired last night, Yuzuru is in the 6th in the ranking of "Who is the most famous Japanese in Vietnam?". The fans are cute :luv17:

I happened to watch this before I slept last night, but I couldn't listen to the last part since I froze seeing the breaking news on the upper screen. It said the passengers were stabbed in the bullet train. So relieved it wasn't the trip day for the skaters  A man passed away and two women were injured, but the suspect was caught. Praying for the victims.
