Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

https://twitter.com/FSpiritVarz/status/922186721097216000 Important to read, and remember if you are going to watch Yuzu live at a competition.
He was asked "You seem to be followed intensely by everyone but you don't seem bothered by your popularity" and his answer was>

I admit, I really like to see fan cams, and off-shots of Yuzu and other skaters, but it can be a source of great stress, especially to the skaters who are more popular. In the end, we need to remember and respect that they are athletes first and foremost. We need to let them concentrate on their craft.

Well the J media should probably read that first, considering the level of scrutiny they put him under. Any day now, I expect they'll follow him to the loo!

Unfortunately, not any people, but the official CBCOlympics (yes, the Canadian television one) made a mocking video, and shared it on Twitter, their Facebook and their official site. The tweet that linked to the video was particularly unpleasant. It was removed after complaints, but they did not remove the video (at least it was still up the last time I looked, on both their site and FB, might be gone by now).
So really, the response to her was totally disproportionate. I agree the cameraman should not have recorded her, he should have left her her privacy but on the other hand, it would not have been that bad, had the response not been so vicious. She really didn't do anything terrible that would warrant it.

I hope she enjoyed the Gala if she managed to see it, and had some fun!

Oh no... I didnt know CBCOlympics did a mocking video just for her... it’s almost like encouraging ppl to judge on her emotional reactions. :(

Yesterday you could clearly see why Yuzuru Hanyu is not a skater but a wizard on ice. That performance was out of this world from start to finish - mesmeric jumps, beautiful spins, so soft and smooth on the Ice - just like a swan really. Thank you, Yuzuru!

I don't care about all the negative press and comments tbh. Didn't expect him to nail such a quad-packed programme with 4Lz debut at the first attempt and he did really well compared with the last years' GP starts. There are still three or four tournaments to come until Olympics, so there are enough opportunities to peak and test out the limits of the current layout. I have full trust in this boy that he will enchant us once again with new hights and top quality skating in the next couple of months. :hap10:

I feel bad for the designer and working team that had to put the magazine together at such speed

I'm late but about the girl with Seimei costume, I feel bad for her. I feel so sorry that the camera shot her when she was crying. I think it was a private moment. Whether it disrespects the other skaters or not, you can't tell other people what to feel and what not to feel. Talking about her alone makes me feel guilty, it's invading her privacy.

I feel quite at ease about Yuzuru. He's still adjusting to the new layout and the programs he's using are the ones he's most comfortable with :) (look back at his relationship with 4S last season)

And no matter how he performs, I will always be grateful for him to be stepping on the ice.

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x65p3ej post EX interview. --SO MANY INTERVIEWS...imagine, trying to concentrate while being interviewed constantly. It's a talent that all top athletes need to develop quickly I suppose.

Thank you for posting this, I couldn't watch and record it since my TV was almost out of order because of huge typhoon :sad4: (Good that it left and Oda could come back here safe lol)
