Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

Yes, I think we will only find out until just before the competition. I think the positive thing is they are taking things seriously and I don't think his condition has worsen?( thinking that if it was worse they would've made the WD decision more swiftly).

It is 10:15pm here and though uncertain I have to go to sleep to wake up at 5am for men's competition. I confess that if Yuzu had withdrawn I would have not woken up early to watch it. Hope wake up for a series of good and happy news :ghug:

I have not planned to wake up (would be about 3,4 am for me) since work has not been kind to me lately and I need full night sleep, but I am betting on a fitful night where I would sit up and started checking the news. Fingers crossed!

-I wish you a good sleep!

I reeeally hope Yuzu wouldn't attempt the Lutz or any other quads for NHK. It's just too risky

No quads would be too much to ask, but I think he would do just fine with salchows and toeloops, and I'm pretty sure he won't go for a 4Lz (don't know about the 4Lo though). I wonder if perhaps him and his teams will now further evaluate whether doing the 4Lz for the rest of the season will be worth it, since it's not only a matter of the scores getting affected if he doesn't land it, but also his health (which is much more important).
I hope Yuzu can modify his layout in time for this competition too.

Sad sad news, but definitely eyes on the big goal next February! Next competition would be Nationals in December. Rest well Yuzuru and keep you spirits up!

:sad4::sad4::sad4::sad4:

I'm so crushed for him, I know he wanted to defend his GPF title (and I wanted to see him match Davis and White's 5-peat streak). The Olympics are more important, his body is more important than NHK Trophy right now.

This must've been a really hard decision for him. I hope he can get better soon, aside from the fall the fever was worrying as well.

As a small aside, I remember Ambesi mention Yuzu had never won a grand prix event that wasn't the sixth event. I can't believe that has now held true because of this :hopelessness:.

Wishing him a full and speedy recovery. Emphasis on the full :(
This is definitely far from the season that he was probably wishing for, but at least he still has a shot at the Olympics. Hope his injury isn't too severe and that he will have good support around him during this time.

they let him skate after COC 2014 horrible crush , when it would have been mandatory to WD, but they stop him now in the OLY season.
a golden gift on a golden plate offered to rivals.

I'm heartbroken for him, he must feel terrible. He loves the Final and he wanted that 5th title for sure (and I would have loved to see him get it). But well, this will give him time to rest and heal, to give a very strong performance for Nats and lights out for the Olympics!
Sending him and all of us positive vibes. Yuzu is a tough cookie, he will get back on track :yes:
:ghug:
