Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

thank you all for keeping us updated with news and translations, i am so sad because of the news, i hope Yuzuru wont stay upset too long and focus on healing and will come back stronger, now the only thing that will cheer me up is to see Satton skate :sad21:

Cricket Club seems to be cursed at the moment. First Brian, than Javi, now Yuzu... GPF without this triple feels unreal...

Best wishes and quick recovery to all of them! :ghug:

Thank you for the info.

When I saw the clip, I was really worried about possible knee injury caused by the torque, but this makes me hopeful that it's "just" a (hopefully minor) ankle sprain.

It's kind of weird because in the articles published before Yuzuru's withdraw announcement, they said he hurt ankle and knee, but I don't see the diagnosis (name of the injury) on knee if I'm correct. I don't think knee is 100% fine though, but hopefully it has only minor pain.

Yeah, hopefully. I twisted my knee relatively recently and it stung a ton whenever I moved it in the slightly wrong manner and it just completely gave out under me from time to time, but it only took about 2 weeks to perfectly recover. We'd hope it's something like that because actual knee injuries can take almost a year to recover fully.

It’s very sad, poor baby. But at least, it shows he has grown and knows better than going to compete with something that can get worse. I’m not surprised he cried, considering he’s missing GPF in his home country. I hope he’ll get better soon, at least mentally. He has so much support from all around, we know he will come back strong.

You don't see the diagnosis because it was not made yesterday evening , even if it could have been easily done, but it was delayed ( ...we'll decide after morning practice....).
Then it doesn't seem Yuzu appear either, so we don't really know how much upset he is actually.

Interestingly JSF didn't present a medical certification at COC 2014 , but did it at Finland Throphy 2014 and today, which is really .

I think JSF just forgot Yuzu's history of rebirth like a Phoenix , today a very long wave is born and this wave will push Yuzu strongly and make him fly directly to the Olys.:clapper:

Yuzuru's comment

(I'm sorry that) I made everyone worried. I had been given hard treatment from the doctors since last night for my appearance in NHK, but unfortunately I decided to withdraw by the final decision of the doctors.

From now on, I will devote myself to treatment and I will do my best in Japanese nationals.

Thank you for your many support.

Thank you for the information:thank:
Wise decision, if he's not 100% sure, o near, it's better to play safe. And looks like is more than that. So, withdraw, and focus in treatment and recover for Nationals, that's the most important thing now.:ghug:

If anyone can come back stronger, it's Yuzuru.

I know it must be so hard for him to miss GPF in Japan (and to miss GPF in general tbh), but it's wiser to focus on recovering. I hope his morale isn't crushed after this, but he's a tough cookie. He will overcome this too.

:ghug:

no doubt for me that it took A LOT of strength from Yuzuru to make that decision - he's not the one who gives up easily, but I'm glad that his health and 'bigger picture/broader perspective' thinking won. He needs to take care of himself on a first place to let all the people enjoy him in the best, fullest way. The perfectionist in him wants to give it all and make people to feel it in equal measure. The beauty of his skating won't go anywhere just because he won't skate at NHK and GPF. Looking forward to see him competing again.

You made me cry  Thank you for your post. (sorry, I'm too emotional today)

4:46am here and I woke up for men and I see the news. It is just heartbreaking for me but I know it is because I'm even more ambitious than him. I wanted a full dominance in Olympic season for him. Couldn't imagine it would turn out like this. What is done is done, he should accept it but it's definitely so hard for him. Wish him a fast recovery for the nationals. Love you Yuzu :ghug:

Apparently, it said that he’s able to walk and jump, but avoid to put weight on his right side (well obviously).

It’s a relief if all of this is correct (no reason it isn’t correct, but it’s important to be careful no matter if the injury is big or not), as it means that he won’t require any surgery or something close. I’m also happy to see how much Yuzu has grown and how, no matter how hard it was for him, he decided to WD. GPF was a big deal, obviously, but Olympics come first. As it should be.

:ghug:, this is unfortunately the effect of us being so emotionally, personally invested in skaters, everything happening to them and I understand You being emotional. This is a hard moment for lots of people, because Yuzuru got used us to show off the strength through competition, his strive to achieve more and challenge himself in the air of rivalry - and it's a feeling of being 'out of place' not only for us, but also for Him I think. Sure, it would be a strange feeling not to see Him at GPF being held in Japan, but for me his champion's spirit shows now in a form of being responsible and conscious about himself and making his health and well-being of his body as focus points, especially looking further at Olympics AND beyond that, where he probably wants to set goals too.

This is a difficult moment to take, but at the same time - it is a moment of a great responsibility shown, strength expressed, taking care of much 'bigger' moment as for Yuzuru's future and plans for it. The first shock is hard to get, but I hope it all will be taken in broader perspective, like yuzuru showed us.

Thanks to everyone who brought the news over here so fast! It's heartbreaking to see Yuzu forced to WD, and given how little competitions there are left to prepare for the Olympics, I guess we would be kidding ourselves if we said this isn't going to be difficult for him. But his health is absolutely the top priority, so this was thankfully the right choice - hopefully he will recover soon and fully and will be able to prepare well for Nationals.

The only thing that's really hard and making me despressed is knowing he even cried when he had to WD. NHK and especially GPF mean so much to him - what will his birthday be without being at the GPF? I hope he really feels the support from his team and fans in this difficult time and remembers how many difficulties he already managed to overcome. He's strong, he can do this :ghug:

"His injury is not serious" - thank god! I'm so relieved!

I was worried about him. At first I didn't believe when I read that he might withdraw yesterday at sports.ru.
So sad he missed NHK but he can't risk his health, so it was right desision after all

Yes, I think if the injury really isn't big and will heal fast, the main problem for him will be that he is going to the Olympic without much competition experience for this year - I'm thinking he might just tak 4lz out and use the old layouts or a mixture of the two?
