Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

https://twitter.com/BluecosmosH/status/941078400726269952

This is morning show on December 14. Oda said that he sent "Happy Birthday" message to Yuzuru on his birthday and Yuzuru replied "Thank you always for giving me kind words, I will try to do my best to get back on the ice soon", so Oda knew Yuzuru was not practicing on the ice yet. Oda said again Yuzuru would only need like two days to get his quad back so he really really hoped he would not rush. Oda thinks Yuzuru needs to be fully fit by mid January to do run-through and to regain his stamina.

Oda is such a nice guy!

How sweet, I see true friendship here :).

Looks like I probably won’t get my wish to have Oda sing a belated happy birthday to Yuzu at Nationals, but I’m sure they will make up for lost time during the summer shows with their antics.

I also think it would be too much of a stretch for him to participate. No matter how many "image training" he does, they do not replace actual run-through of his programs. Even though he is already familiar with both programs from previous seasons, there's still the fact that he needs to fly back to Japan and that takes away another day. Just too much of a rush.

If for some reason he still decides to compete, I am already seeing how he will be giving his post-competition interview in a very "kuyashii" manner and saying that he just didn't have enough time to practice and wants to practice more...:(

Most of us thought that he would get back on the ice soon after reading his comments yesterday, but he must have heard about our reaction or read Japanese articles, and maybe he thought he had to explain more.

At this point, I think Oda is right. It may be good for him to aim for recovering by mid January to be able to do run-through.

It seems to me Yuzuru trusts Oda very much. Oda could have said anywhere and anytime, even during his commentary of Men's competition, " I've heard from Yuzuru that he had not been on the ice yet.", etc, but he never did.

That is correct and that is so much the classiness and mutual respect that one appreciates in mature and responsible people in the skating world, who have the opportunity to have a voice, but choose to use it respectfully. Not like too many commenters and vloggers, who show such selfishness in seeking to divulge matters that can be misunderstood or are private or not to the advantage in any way for the athlete involved in recovery from injury.

Just stopped by to say that at least in this thread the focus of his fans has always been on his health before any medal or title :thank: So I ask you all for praying for his health and recovery before concentrating on any kind of competition. May our prayers be answered :ghug:

Sad news was arrived on December 14.

Yuzuru sent additional comments to JSF after their announcement yesterday, he said he had also inflammation on tendon and bone so he didn't know when he would start training on the ice.

Boy oh boy, knowing how much he want to get back on ice... things didn’t go the way he wanted. :(
Just hope everything will go up from here.

I hope Yuzuru feels better soon and that he will be back on the ice as soon as he can, because as much as we miss him (and boy do I miss his skating) I know he's missing it even more. Sending positive thoughts and prayers his way ♥

This is Kozuka's view on Yuzuru's current situation. (Sorry, only summary and not literal translation)

https://www.nikkansports.com/sports/news/201712150000110.html

Kozuka says there is no need for Yuzuru to push himself to participate in Japanese nationals, and it is important for the people around him to adjust the environment for him to go to the Olympics and win there. He says he personally thinks there is an option for JSF to announce informally Yuzuru as a representative for the Olympics before JN, but it may not happen based on the rule. Kozuka also thinks there is an option for Yuzuru to participate in 4CC to focus on individual event instead of skating in the team event of Olympics while Japan may want him to compete in the team event.

I have to say I was very surprised at his comments in a very good way. I guess he had to be brave to say all these, especially the bolded part because he is not just a figure skating fan like us. I'm very thankful to him.

Than you Yude for sharing Kozuka's comments with us. It is good to hear that his fellow countrymen are as supportive as his fans.

What's really surprising is that everyone is speaking except the individual concerned Yuzuru Hanyu.

If the TCC lady stalker says the truth what a mess!!:rofl2:

Was Mrs. Kobayashi trolled by Hanyu on December 14?
Was Mrs Kobayashi reading a message that was not from Yuzuru?

If the TCC lady says the truth why was she allowed to be a TCC stalker?

Is this the way to manage the Olympic Gold medalist and the World gold medalist?Poor Yuzu !:furious:
