Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

Kenzo Shirai commented about Yuzu:
" I thinkt Hanyu knows how to adapt for the Olympics. I want him to believe in himself and work hard"

I hope we're able to see Yuzuru and Kenzo chatting again :luv17:

It's so heartwarming to see Yuzu is supported by other Japanese champions in the deafening silence of JSF and JOC.

I have a question How likely do you think it is that Hanyu will win the Olympics or even be considered a favorite for gold now. I mean with his injury and being off the ice for months it's not looking good I'm not expecting him to podium to be truthfully honest. And I'm saying this as his biggest fan.

I still think Yuzu have what it takes to get gold in Oly, if everyone is at their best and skate clear, Yuzu will be the one to win, I have Johnny Weir’s voice at the back of my mind, saying: at the moment, there is no other skater who could win over a prefect Yuzuru Hanyu. This is a comment back at 2015 GPF, even with the rise of Shoma and Nathan, this comment is still true to me. Let’s pray that all skaters skate at their best.
Looking back at TCC’s media day last year, Yuzu was at his top form, that was 2 months after he wrap up all the ice show and return to TCC for full-on training. I hope his injury has healed properly, so that he could concentrate in training and get back to his top form, one and half months is reasonable time for him.

Thank you, I literally checked the calendar reading your post! It sounds nice and reasonable you can go to three countries within 18 days and great that you have a friend in Korea, you won't have any trouble :) I think the flight between Korea and Japan takes only less than 3 hours, I hope you're able to enjoy Tokyo and buy all Yuzuru's items  Good luck on Japanese classes :hap10:

You are better than me! I need to start filling out my calendar itinerary more detailed day by day instead of general plans. But of course we can't even book our train yet for the men's event and its during Chinese New Year (great planning there :palmf:). This is why I can't be totally sure on Japan. It's been a frustrating process between getting tickets (the men's events is the most popular and I'm sure our guy has a lot to do with it), finding accommodations, and figuring out travel, etc. It's been a part-time job for nearly a whole year and it's still not over. Seoul to Tokyo is only 2 hours by plane. I think I would go to Haneda since that's closer. Maybe I'll see the Yuzuru billboard while I'm there! Thanks about Japanese class. My 200 series sensei thought I should take the 300 series instead since that would be more of a challenge. She was right, haha. They didn't offer 301 at the start of the year so I had to start with 302. I tried to review the 301 contents on my own but with planning this trip it has been hard to set aside study time. I will study what I can alongside the 302 material. So far I think I can keep up, but there are people more advanced than me who have lived in Japan so I definitely have to be on top of my game and I'm going to miss two weeks while I'm in Asia so... But it should be fine. I was starting to feel a plateau and this will be good for the next level.

Takeshi Honda also said the similar thing after ACI last year, "I'm seeing no one who can beat him (if he can skate at his best)." (20:40)

another NYTimes Article on Yuzuru Hanyu in The Edge :
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/01/11/b...good-news.html

“Mr. Hanyu is recovering from an ankle injury, and his presence at the Winter Olympics next month is uncertain. “.

they keep repeating it over and over again , like a broken record. They are obviously doing their job and they are doing it easily because JSF and JOC deafening silences are of a great help.
A complete nonsense, it looks like a Kafka's tale.

Not like a broken record... it's more like a mantra, a prayer repeated over and over...

They need to pray he is either not there, or not fully recovered, so that others have a shot at gold...! ;-D

PS.
Link you posted doesn't work...

I'm sorry for the link :)

I love the idea of a mantra , but there's always an obsessive and frightening nuance in it and it's pretty similar to Mrs.Kobayashi statements, it's like they were working in synergy

Maybe Yuzu actually wants to stay under the radar. I would prefer it that way too. Less media attention.

Yuzu had so many great come-back stories~~ I'm sure Olympics this year is no exception.
And I agree it's great to be under the radar.

I remember he said in his statement after NHK, "I appreciate your consideration for me to focus on rehabilitation and practice." I can not explain it well but his original sentence was very very formal, but in other words, he was saying to the media "Please don't disturb my days to heal my body." (and I think this was the first time for him to make this kind of comment.) I think it is good that Yuzuru has been concentrating on himself now.

But at the same time, I'm curious what footage will be included in those two documentaries, haha.
