Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

Didn't Russia basically have a ban order on Russian coaches training foreign skaters prior to Sochi Olympics?
Didn't Morozov coach Daisuke Takahashi that season...?

Didn't Morozov coach Daisuke Takahashi that season...?

Was Morozov based in Russia around that time, though? I have no idea, maybe the ban only started during the Olympic season itself and beforehand it was fine. Either way, Yuzu's Toronto fate was sealed the moment he caught sight of Javi's 4S anyway.

Yomiuri Newspaper this morning, it has Javier's comment about Yuzuru.

https://twitter.com/GERBERA1207/status/954115143482294272

"He will make his physical condition better state in the short period of time. He will stand in Pyeongchang with his usual strong appearance. Shoma Uno and Nathan Chen are also strong. But the biggest rival is Yuzuru. No doubt."

:agree:

Said from someone who trains with him, this really gives me a lot of hope :hap10:

Morozov was a member of Takahashi's team in 2013, and he was sitting in K&C in Sochi Olympics.

OT but according to Shirota's book, it was her who arranged Tarasova and Morozov as coaches for Shizuka, but that was when she was the department head of JSF.

I think I have seen it around before, I was under the impression that it was real, but don't take my word for it

I believe that's a real photo, I've seen it as well. I think in a magazine, but it's probably 3-4 years old now.

Following the little Russian boy and Russian girl who chose SEIMEI as their program, now there's a Chinese version! https://twitter.com/bokuken_/status/954249053306531840

I don't remember who make the compilation but there is a list of junior skaters Russian, Japanese etc. who dressed like Yuzuru or use Yuzuru's program and in this drought, I would very much love to visit that compilation again along with this Chinese version! :coffee:

I finished reading Shirota's book (I'm a very slow reader!) and I can say it was really something. She wrote about some Japanese skaters but what impressed me the most (except for Yuzuru's information) was the road to the Olympics with Shizuka Arakawa. There was an episode of how the team treated her costumes at the Turin Olympics. On the day before the game, Shirota asked the staff to sew the gold threads on the side of the skirt praying for the gold medal. And I can't help but think now that it may have something to do with the little yellow (gold?) bird on Yuzuru's R&J#2 costume.

I hope someday we'll know the truth

So NBC has an online profile of Yuzuru here.
Small typo but he is marked as having won two Olympic Gold Medals.
Don't worry, NBC, we fully support this

Let's hope this doesn't jinx him like the Olympic site article that made the mistake of saying he was going into Pyeongchang as the reigning GPF champion... :hopelessness:
