Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

"I do not think i raised the standards. The first skater to open the doors to the 4lz was jin boyang, and i have tried my best to overcome my limits to chase after him ever since. As a result, everyone became stronger – nathan chen entered the arena, and even shoma, such a skilful japanese skater, also appeared. I deeply feel that i, as a skater, am the one benefitting from this era.”

Thank you for this interview !!! Amazing Yuzuru, so modest, the best person in the world, an inspiration for everyone !Thanks for the translator !!!

Welcome, Ice Mage !!! I am glad ......the numbers of trully fans increase and increase !!! Yuzuru, the best skater of all time, really deserve it !!!:yahoo:

Welcome to all new members and first time posters :ghug:

Thanks so much! :) I have been a fan for about four years, so all this feels so good!
YUZURU HANYU TWO TIME OLYMPIC CHAMPION! :yahoo: :dance2: :luv17:

I was watching with my mom and brother and we were all so nervous when the final group came on, then we were on the edges of our seats when he started to skate. All I could do was cry hopeful tears and pray internally. When the time he got his scores, I screamed and jumped up and down hysterically. It was such a great skate and a great night. :points:

First poster here as well! Just needed to shout CONGRATULATIONS to Yuzuru!! Double Olympic champion!! :yahoo:

I was watching the final flight live on my laptop while the rest of my family were preparing for our new year's dinner, but I was spazzing out so much that eventually they all congregated over to watch, too (none of them follow fs). Just in time to see Yuzuru!! I think I lost several months off my life in those 4.5 minutes

In any case, I'm so so so happy for him, and for Shoma and Javi too, and I'm happy I get to share some of that joy with my befuddled family and with you all!!

Welcome and post often, we love to have new friends :ghug:

And I love this opening paragraph of Washington Post:

"Twenty-four men performed mightily at the PyeongChang Games on Friday, hoping for a magical Olympic moment. They skated. They spun. They landed quads. But in the end, they could not dethrone the king."

The link:https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...re-skater-of-all-time/?utm_term=.79649a19730e

However, after reading the whole article I hated the last paragraph, no one knows future and you can not say the leader will be Nathan Chen again writing off the Worlds and Olympic silver medalist plus two-time Worlds bronze medalist :disapp:

This is the gold I have been hoping for the most this Olympics! So proud of Hanyu that he managed to become the Olympics champion again despite all the obstacles this season.

Don't let this bother you, American media always has to toot their own horn. OT here but while I have mad respect for Nathan for all the quads he managed to land when the day before he made mistakes on all the jumps, his fs just made me realize why I enjoy Yuzuru so much. He does have it all. Not just the jumps, but so so much more. Even for people who doesn't know his story or the fact he is injured, by just watching the skate you can FEEL something.

I also think he will pass on the worlds.

Thank you for the updates and welcome to the fan thread to the new posters!

He and Shoma has been on TV from 7 in the morning, but he looks very good and is talkative! He said he couldn't ride the bike  (I mean...why!?)
