Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

Hello all!

I mostly lurk here, but have always been a fan of Yuzuru. He's such a beautiful skater with incredible jumps. Also, he seems very transparent in an understated way. What little I've seen of him off ice he also seems playful, joyous and a very humble young man. His spirit is endearing.

Considering his injury I feared he would not make it to this Olympics, but I'm so glad he was able to heal well enough to lay down that phenomenal SP and inspired LP.

He is the best of this era. No doubt, and now he is only the second man to earn two back to back OGM!!! Incredible! Congrats to him!

I hope that he will now take some rest, get that ankle fully healed and comeback guns blazing (if that's what he wishes to do) when he's ready.

Prepare the tissues for tears.
It’s clear that he needs rest. Even if his injury got better, he still needs the proper treatment to heal fully (which can take time, so I understand why it was not possible to do entirely before Olympics). As we know, Yuzu has a high level pain tolerance, but he knows his limit (reducing the difficulty of his jumps was the right strategy, he never needed dozens of quads in order to win), so I’ll be totally ok with him skipping Worlds if he decides to end the season now. His health is very important.

It has been a long time since I last commented.

Just wanted to congratulate Yuzuru on his medal, and everyone of his supporters for sticking and keep believing.

And thank you every one for the material.

Hope Yuzuru now takes time to fully recover and rest.

What can I say. Nothing. His skating was unreal, even when he saved his jumps. How unreal also that it was the 1000th gold medal awarded at Olympic Games. Awarded to him.
What a crazy night for all of us figure skating fans in Germany, we watched from 2.a.m till the end at around 6.30 a.m., we stayed awake whole day because we were in awe.
Noone knows for shure how much pain he felt, or if his pain aggravated during these days, he doesn't talk about that. He could skate in Milano at worlds but not at this level he wanted so I think he will not participate and I support his decision.
The golden dragon goes back to rest in his cave.

Did you understand what Tarasova said ? "Big talent" are the only words I got.

Copying and pasting one of the comments from that vid...

"Tell me how to say congratulations in Japanese...omedetogozaimasu...I'm in bliss, I've been rooting for him. He's a great athlete, a great skater, and a great boy. Not only is he very talented he has formidable work ethic. Watching his performance, I was close to tears. I've been a fan and watching him for many years. I'm so happy to see him having grown into such a strong competitor."

First she asks how to say "congratulations!" In Japanese. After In general words she said that she was looking after him for many years, he is a great sportsman and a great skater, and a great young man. He has a lot from God, but the rare thing is when a pure talent is combined with always being ready for a lot of hard work. She congratulates Yuzu.

I don't understand all the words in this interview but it has such a good feeling into it:

The beginning when Shoma is too short to climb the chair :laugh2: And anytime that Yuzu refers to him :laugh2: Yuzu you bad boy, but seriously they are in such good terms.
And, I appreciate if anyone can give us translation :thank:

I do not understand the numbers! What means, could you tell me, please! :)

This simply shows who accumulated the most points in all the ISU competitions each season. -Taking the last 3 seasons into account.
Yuzu has been on top for the past 5 years.

"Since Hanyu-senshu broke through the road to the gold medal yesterday, I was able to skate with courage."

:agree:

I believe though, that Nao, and each athlete, win their own medals on their own power though, with some help from their team and surroundings. The media hypes the rest.

The amount of work it takes to make that....woooow. As an illustrator I always appreciate the work of other artists and crafty people... because I know how much skill and time is involved. :points: respect!
