Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

http://figureskating-in-color.tumbl...ngratulations-2-time-olympic-champion-being-a After a lot of thinking, I realized, that I could make more than one fan-art...Lol. It was so hard to pick a good pose, because they are all so good.
Anyway, here's the first of many fanarts I'm going to probably do this year of Yuzu.

That´s really something, you are really good

Edit.

So I want the opinion of japanese speaking fans, I fount this tweet about Yuzuru´s FCC declarations
https://twitter.com/michaeljardins/status/968634560820006914

Do you think that was the intention of the declaration, because I took it as historically FS was from Europe so skaters in Asia feel that they need to use music from Europe/ America, that most fan can understand, and that he really liked and was proud of music and art in Japan and wanted to use this more in his programs... can I have your opinions.

If you think this topic should not be discuss I will delete this post...

Well I did not think he was trying to make an political statement or anything of that sort. He wasn't really declaring anything, only saying how happy he is that he used SEIMEI to win the Olympic gold. I took it as much as you did, as FS originated in Europe and so maybe programs with European background are more easily accepted and understood, therefore might be look upon more favorably. Since he was answering the question about next season's programs and he does not have ideas in mind yet , he just extended that to "maybe more programs with emphasis on my own culture" as an answer to the question.

My thoughts only though. :)

I agree with this assessment. The tone was not political, but rather an observation of how expression was perceived and how he'd like it to change.

Thank you both :)

RE: Western music being more "acceptable". At 2016 Worlds, one of the GS-ers said she was sitting next to a retired (American) judge who said that SEIMEI was a big mistake, and that Javi's Guys and Dolls was a much better music choice. I wouldn't be surprised if a judge like him would have marked Yuzu lower overall. Majority of judges (even now) are not from Asia.

ITA

I confess when that question came, I was like "OMG, he is going to tell us about the new programs!?", but of course he didn't reveal anything as always

I stopped by a bookstore and read a tabloid magazine today, it said to have the parade in Sendai, they would need about 100 million yen because the crowd was going to be more huge than the last time (it cost about 80 million yen in 2014). And about the contract money for Yuzuru's CM, it will be over 150 million yen from now on.

I take this with a grain of salt but I won't be surprised if it is true :p

The statement was forceful yet elegant. Diplomatic. The more I consider it, the more it reverberates with a deeper and deeper impact on me. I actually do think it’s political, but I mean that as praise. His desire to defend against dismissive stereotypes and advocate for Asian skating is also shown in his fight against Boyang erasure. Now he has an even bigger platform to make a difference and he’s using it.

Despite Sendai not being a FS powerhouse, its quite romantic that all of Japan's OGM's came from the place where Japanese FS orginated from :o:

Empress Wenjing Sui sited Yuzu as one of her inspirations/people she looks up to in her Weibo posts

I wonder if Yuzuru said "I like drinking soft drink like Coke", Coca-Cola would the same. (Battle between McD vs Cola )
