Team Orser rented out another rink for Javier to train at this season so there wouldn’t be too much tension in the Olympic season. Yuzuru credits seeing Javier’s consistent 4 sal as his inspiration for getting his own 4 sal clean regularly.

It wasn’t just for Javi, Brian took turns with both so they could get a session alone with him in that rink (and for them to get a break from the tension that having a direct rival there all the time can produce). Sometimes it was Javi, sometimes it was Yuzu. Javier said it in the interview he gave for GS at ACI

I also remember Brian saying sometimes Javi and Gabby would go to the other rink too, so I’m sure other TCC skaters were using it even if the the reason was to separate them a bit.

Honestly IMO javi learned to be on his feet because of yuzu. He probably felt real competition when training together.
As for yuzu he needed someone to remind him of what to chase after.
I wonder how much pressuring it was for borser. He cares for them both but how can you tell them, ok you can beat this guy?
When he said the 2 sometimes make him go crazy. Yeah I feel that.

I had seen bits of this interview in Olympic Channel videos but not this answer- they ask "Will he be at Beijing 2022?
He replies with a long, drawn-out “Maybe.”

This. I think the situation would've been impossible if not for Fernandez's extraordinarily chillax personality. Which is also why I think there's zero chance Orser would take on Nathan Chen as a pupil, despite a bunch of posters wanting it after Olympics.

Yuzu and Nathan on the same ice rink? The fans that are suggesting it are fooled by Yuzu goofing around in his relaxed times. He is not "too nice" like Javi when it comes to his carrier, his business, his competition. Putting those two on the same rink would fire Yuzu to a heat that eventually burns Nathan. I think it's the obvious outcome

Don't we all? I really like many of the skaters in that field, but they are my solid 1st and 2nd faves :sad14: but they need to rest and heal, they've more than earned it :yes:

To add to what the others have said, Brian said in another interview that it's also better for him as a coach cos when he's training Yuzuru, a corner of his eye will be watching Javi at the other side of the rink. And vice versa. With only one of them at the rink it's better for focus, for coach and students.

I think he watched SP and will be watching FS on Fuji TV having dinner (and that is what I'll do, too ). Or maybe he will even watch it on live streaming from 6 PM. I'm not sure about the ladies' FS though because it will start at 4 am

Him? Probably getting up at 5-6 am to watch the final groups live, cheering all the way for Satton and Wakaba.

Hi, everyone! I'm brand new to the forum but a long time Yuzuru fan. I was excited to find you all here and get lots of updated information. I'm trying to stay as updated as possible as I am going to the Grand Prix Finals this year in December and really hoping to see him there (and that he's well of course!). He's the main reason I'm going...my first time going to one of these events ever. Of course, my main wish for him right now is rest and a full recovery. Glad to see such a positive forum about him.
