Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

So, Plushenko confirmed his participation in CiONTU before the official announcement :laugh2: I'm sure Yuzuru won't get mad

Yay! I was worry he couldn´t do it because of contract with Starts on Ice...

So Johnny and Plushy? Lambiel next? I sure hope Shizuka Arakawa is there too... would it be too crazy that Mao assist she was so such important part in Yuzuru learning his 3A

Mao is very busy with the preparation for her own tour right now, so it must be difficult. But maybe some day?

The whole living by yourself or with family is cultural too. And not everyone wants independence in that way.We really don't know what he prefers, really. Many of my Asians friends still live with family into their 30s or 40s, happily so and not being forced into it. I feel like having his mom there gave him more freedom and time to focus on skating and also school work.

Happy that his dream team is coming together nicely!

10 hours! So delicate and beautiful work :thumbsup:

Thanks! I usually only spend 1-3 hours on personal projects, but it's the weekend! Now that ice show season is starting, I'm really, REALLY hoping Yuzu will get to skate in some later in the off-season. Maybe a new EX? I just want to see him skate again. :drama:

Even not following the sport itself I would think the same. Lebron is THE guy right now. But my friend said that MJ is huge in Asia and still is, so I guess in that sense it makes sense.
I'm from Asia.
Frankly I dont know who Lebron is but I know Michael Jordan. I know Michael Phelps, Usain Bolt.
From European side, Chris Hoy(2012 OG Gold track cycling) and Tom Daley(2012 and 2016 OG bronze diving). Both from England.

So yeah, its not surprising us Asians dunno Lebron but a lot of us know Michael Jordan.

I appreciate the perspective! Here in the states there is debate between whether Lebron James or Michael Jordan is the greatest NBA player ever. Older people skew toward Jordan, younger toward Lebron. Nathan Chen will probably pick Lebron if his Cleveland Cavaliers shirt he wore to the CoR press conference was any indication. He's called King James. Air Jordan shoes, I can't even tell you if they still sell them, but Lebron has them and they sell.

Air Jordan’s are still sold by Nike and are still VERY popular. The shoes are sold for the same price and at times more than the LeBron’s.

I don’t know who is the GOAT when Jordan and Lebron are compared, but I think Jordan had the most lucrative endorsement deals while playing and still does after his retirement. I don’t think any athlete, including LeBron have been able to garner the abundance of endorsements Jordan had while playing and is able to maintain after his retirement, which is likely why his popularity extends beyond the US.

I think right now, Hanyu has the potential to garner popularity akin to Jordan, at the very least, in Europe and Asia (the latter already being the case). I don’t know about Canada though, not sure how popular the sport is there. In the US I’d say it’s sadly unlikely, being as FS is just not a mainstream sport here.

Thanks! Well that settles that. I grew up in school with everybody talking about a new pair of Jordan's. And then a couple years back I remember wondering about those because all of a sudden I was hearing about Lebron's shoes in the same vain. Of course, I don't buy their shoes (maybe had one pair so Jordan's as a kid), and now I only hear kids talking in passing, on he train, etc.

And I totally agree with you about Hanyu. I get the feeling he wants to focus on skating mostly for now, but he could certainly capitalize when he's done since his status as a champion can't be disputed...at least not for a long long time when there's a next 2x OGM. .

"Bees are cute!" very emphatic. "They are just protecting their hive."

https://twitter.com/11272yuzu22320/status/979993021700751360 Another continuing clip from Figurpedia TV show,
Yuzu is talking about how no one yet has two titles in the Olympic section (talking about the plaques) from the club. There are some double World Champions and they get two years in the same plaque. Yuzu talked to Brian a lot about it, "What will happen if I win?"
And he said that they'd make a new plaque. "That is my goal"

Those plaques really mean a lot to him it seems.
This footage is from last summer's Media day at TCC.

This little talk about bees is :rofl2: How can he remember that difficult name? He said "Futamonashinagabachi" and it seems to be translated into "Polistes chinensis antennalis" in English. http://www.ha.shotoku.ac.jp/~kawa/KYO/SEIBUTSU/DOUBUTSU/08hachi/futamon/05.html He said he studied about the bees for home work in summer when he was in elementary school, but if I were him, I would have forgotten the name

I rather like bees too. The closer you look at them, they are really amazing creatures.
I guess in coming competitions, people will throw this Bee/Pooh plushy at Yuzu. https://toywiz.com/disney-tsum-tsum-bee-winnie-the-pooh-exclusive-3-5-inch-mini-plush/ Two things he likes in one.

http://figureskating-in-color.tumbl.../on-a-night-before-the-weekend-when-theres-no I got to spend a little more time on this one. So you can see some of the steps in the painting process, for those who like that sort of thing.

Geez, that’s good! Can I follow you to learn some watercolour painting of Yuzu?
I did a bit last summer, but it’s mainly flower, they are the easiest
