Thank you Interspectator for the overseas link! I don’t post often but had to order the T-shirt’s to support Yuzu’s parade. I used google translate and was able to get through the order process fairly easily. Otherwise Inwouldn’t have known how to order since I am not in Japan.

What supports Hanyu's strength is his absolute skating skills. He didn't have difficult quads (4Lo and 4Lz) coming back from injury. And he also looked tight in terms of stamina from the second half of the program where he started making mistakes. However, at those time of struggling, his high technique helped him.

Sometimes, normal skaters(normal skaters' foot) get rejected by the ice when they land the jumps. But Hanyu is able to absorb the impact with his flexible knee and ankle and continue skating smoothly without any bound after the landing. If you are capable of using the part of knee to the ankle softly, your slide extends. You will not "pause" after a one slide but can keep going as long as you like. And those flowing skating leads to high PCS. In addition to his flexibility by nature, it was the result of making steady effort of learning basic skills.

Upgrading technical element doesn't stop, as we've seen Nathan Chen executes 4 types of quad. Of course I don't deny such an improvement. However, Hanyu's second straight victory in the Olympic games demonstrated important origin of figure skating we can never forget.

The Beatles once sang "one is the loneliest number"... I´m not surprised on his feelings, but the will to talk about it is refreshing, sport men /women often feel like they need to be strong, I have hardly ever read an interview acknowledging feelings of insecurity and loneliness (probably depression) from a sport man

Michael Phelps who is a “god” in US swimming and has won numerous OGMs in the sport has spoken about his struggles with loneliness and depression, others too but in recent years he stands out most. Sasha Cohen also briefly mentioned the struggle to transition from the fame that can be figure skating to a regular life, which at times caused loneliness and depression. Granted that is not Yuzuru’s life right now.

Still I agree with the person up thread who said the article though fascinating was very sad to read. It’s lonely at the top and success is not always glamorous or easy. Furthermore, I’m sure having one’s life be so much about one thing can at times bring emotional challenges when that one thing is not working as planned.

What he said about his mother though was so touching. I think I teared up when reading that as I can so relate being as I am very close to my mother. Sounds like she has been a constant source of support to him through it all, which is wonderful.

Well he said publicly that he has no intention to retire now and he still has lots to do-4Lo, 4Lz, 4A, and there are probably still some ideals of his that have not been realized yet. The way he said it so far, doesn't really seem anywhere like the tone he takes when he's intentionally misdirecting the media. Plus he's back in the rink in TCC, so I think for now, he's probably staying.

People's goals change- Yuzu's goal of 2018 OGM and then r*****ing was from when he was very little and being 23 years old seemed very old and very far away. But there were interviews recently where he said 22 is not peak (and guys don't start peaking until later), plus his skating idol Plushenko went to 4 olys, and he has witnessed an older Javi get a medal at Olympics. His goals have been, and will probably continue to change in so far as competition is concerned (4A though is here to stay).
 
Yuzuru and Shohei Otani appears in Korean article together. This was also my favorite scene of the award ceremony :)
