Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

Yuzuru and Shohei Otani appears in Korean article together. This was also my favorite scene of the award ceremony :)

Thank you for sharing :).

I was watching Ohtani's 2nd home run aired on TV in this morning but never knew they saw each other in the past.

He could go watching Ohtani's play at the home stadium in Toronto from this season (if he wanted:)) as Angels and Blue Jays are same American league.

Maybe he might get some inspiration from Ohtani's two-way performance or give it to Ohtani as the same athlete playing/training abroad.

They are the same age ...! (I had no idea) although both are very intelligent and talented.

The fans visited the restaurant "Hamaya" which was given the presents from Yuzuru's grandparents. Their letter has been displayed as well and they said they were able to see Yuzuru's performances in Korea!! :sad4: :hap10:

Translation of the letter from Yuzuru's grandparents.

The season of cherry blossoms has come to Sendai. We hope all is well with you. Since the Olympic Games, the days passed so quickly that we were late to say thank you. We appreciate your continued warm support for our grandson, Yuzuru. For us, this award (gold medal) was only a miracle because he had been injured just before the game. He himself has also said, but (we also feel) it was nothing but the power of cheering from everyone helped him not to fall in the end (of the program). At that time, even us who were cheering at the venue felt something great power, so it probably reached him more strongly. Hoping for his resurrection, how many people gave him great encouragement at the venue or through TV...we can not thank you enough no matter how much we appreciate it. Thank you very much. Now, quietly looking back, we are most pleased not only to see the consecutive victories, but also Yuzuru said, "This is the start line of my life, and I want to make an effort to be a human being suitable for the gold medalist." As his grandparents, we could not be happier for his words. We can not help hoping for him to live a life humbly and sincerely without forgetting these words. However, he is still 23 years old, still immature. Please watch over us warmly and strictly. We pray for all your health, and this is a quick note to thank you. On a fine day in March.

'Are you sure?' Otani shohei line next to Hanyu Yuzuru ... What's the big difference?

Japanese baseball player Shohei Otani, who plays in the Los Angeles Angels in American baseball major league, has been caught on a screen side by side with figure skater player Hanuyuzuru.

Last year, Otani and Hanyu, who appeared together on a Japanese TV show, met their viewers by wearing their suits nicely. The 172-cm Hanyu is next to the 193-meter Otani, which seems relatively small. The two of them were born in 1994. However, I can not believe that it is the same age as the big difference.

Otani boasts a muscular, bulk-up upper body as a baseball player whose physical is an important factor. Hanyu, on the other hand, has other bodies than athletes such as Otani. Figure skating is rather disadvantageous if it is big. For this reason, it maintains a relatively slim figure. He is the same athlete, but Otani and Hansei differ in physical.

(from google translation)

lol Yuzuru looks so small beside him... Otani does mean something like big? I think a manga character was called like that...

On the other hand, I think Yuzuru is at least 1.74- 1.75... he looks taller than Javier sometimes

According to this article, 57,400,000 yen was made, so 28,700 T shirts were sold (it was 2000 yen per T shirt in 2014). They didn't sell it on line so many of us could not buy it.

Does the article say that they had a net profit of 57,400,000 yen, or that they sold 57,400,000 yen worth of shirts? If it’s the first it might mean they sold even more than 28,700 shirts last time!

This part in particular is amusing because his grandparents are like: yeah, we're proud he wants to live a humble and sincere life but he's still a kid so he's likely to stray from time to time for now.

Of course at 23 your bound to screw up... at 23 I made so many mistakes

I actually happy about the idea that his grandparents were in Korea, was wondering if his sister and dad went....

We bumped into his mom there and she was alone so

Did you talk to her? But if his grandparents were there, maybe it was for a moment...

We have never heard of Yuzuru´s dad going to competition, so Korea being (relatively) close I thought this was the chance for him to go...

Narcissa from our group went over to her to give her a couple of swans. So a brief interaction. There's also a chance that maybe they were seated somewhere else if they weren't able to get seats together. It was also after he won and after the ceremony so maybe they all left already. I think Yuzu's dad went with him to the GPF competition in France because he was spotted on the plane with him flying back to Japan. But I don't think he attends regularly though.

It only said they had profit of 57,400,000 yen by selling T-shirts (28,700 was my calculation). But it also said they made 29,000 T-shirts so I guess they were all sold out :) This year, they are preparing 80,000 and visitors in Seindai can purchase wrist band, so we'll see what is going to happen

Otani's kanji is 大谷, 大 means "big" and 谷 means "valley". So it indeed expresses his figure well! (I've just noticed lol)

Yes, that is exactly what they are saying IMO :)

The moment when Yuzu noticed Rolex on Boyang’s wrist.

I confess I will never get bored watching this Yuzuru :laugh2: I remember the same face in the video of his junior days:laugh:
