Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

I bet it's from GPF/JGPF in Marseille 2016. It's the only competition they met when Dima was a junior. They both won, by the way

No, they were both in Barcelona GPF 2015 too, when Dima came 2nd in Juniors. From the tone and all, I think it would be 2015.

Yes, you are right, they met at GPF in 2015 for the first time. Fortunately I made a bet only virtually

I remember there was a sportswoman that attended in kimono, can Yuzuru go in Kimono?

Yes, I think he can wear Kimono if he wishes ;) Many ladies wear Kimono in the imperial garden party including the athletes because to be there is like "once in a life time" thing. It is the second time for Yuzuru, though

I saw this, but I wanted to ask whats the meaning behind this doll?

Honestly I don't know about this much except for what was written in this article. The doll explains "Noh" dance and it will be given to Yuzuru tomorrow.

Maybe someone can convince him to wear a Kimono.

Oh I wanted to know about the tradition, but no wikipedia on this kind of dolls... :(

OMG, Miyagi prefecture decided to give Yuzuru 4 YEAR worth of rice since they wish him to continue competing till the next Olympics  :laugh2: And it was revealed that Yuzuru had made proposal for donating his reward money to Miyagi prefecture and Sendai City, the same amount for each.

How much rice do a average japanese man eats? The kind of questions that rise from being a Yuzuru fan

The article says, usually 1 year worth of rice (60 kg) is sent to the athlete, but this time 240 kg of rice (new brand, expensive) is given to him. We eat rice every day in general, and 1 pack contains 5 kg or 10 kg at the stores. I think Yuzuru eat rice every day but not as much as other men do, but it is just my speculation

New rice! The most delicious thing in the world.

The doll is called ”Tsutsumi ningyo (Tsutsumi doll)” made by clay with paint.

This kind of stuff was everywhere in the past, so they use more general term "Clay doll".
On the list of local dolls, "堤人形 (Tsutsumi ningyo)" is that.

They've been making them for more than 300 years in Sendai, took subject from Sumo wrestlers, Kabuki actors etc...
Someday, Yuzuru's Tsutsumi doll? :)?

About the doll's dance "Sanbaso": https://goo.gl/LaZNdz (no English page).
They said it's traditional dance to pray rich harvest, performed by many traditional art like Nogaku, Kabuki, Joruri or other local performances (My knowledge was only Kabuki version though).

The whole thing (ceremonies, awards, Parade, Press Conference etc.) Will be tomorrow from 1:00PM to 3:00PM The parade itself will be from around 1:30 to 2:00

Sorry asking again, I suppose you live in Japan so by tomorrow you mean Sunday right? Because I live in California, 16 hour behind, so my tomorrow is Saturday.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/1610393525875114/permalink/2062227827358346/ There's going to be a youtube Live Stream of the parade here, hopefully, it will not be geoblocked?

This TV station also airs "NNN document" broadcasted last year, starts from 11:40 am, but I doubt if we can watch it on the live stream. But according to this tweet, this link is not be geoblocked because it says "we want to share the excitement with people all over the world".

Seriously, there are many live streams this time and I don't know which one I should take  I think I will watch it on NHK TV and the live stream of Miyagi TV. I'm also looking forward to the press con from 2:30 pm and hope we'll be able to hear something about the next season :)
