Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

There are SO MANY talented artists who make perfect images of Yuzu...they could have asked anyone. But I assume they had an on-the-books illustrator to do it, possibly on a very short deadline.

He is the only one that didn't have a photo and instead had illustrations. I can't really say I understand the method to the madness . But truly, I really think they thought they were doing something special. 4 pages. Most didn't get that.

Yes, I appreciate the length of the article.

Waiting for my copy of ESPN, too. I’m somewhat puzzled by the fan art and disappointed we didn’t at least get a real photo, but I should've known better since the online version borrowed images from Getty and didn’t seem to have any originals in it.

I'm quoting from Jason's thread. Found some wonderful pic/gif I haven't seen before. The one where yuzu was not sure which side of the podium he should go to, then patrick pointed to the left (silver medalist) is super funny. Thanks Yoa:luv17::love:

My ESPN World Fame 100 Magazine arrived. 4 pages, no pics but illustrations :

Thank you for sharing! I don't know why but I kind of like the illustrations, it looks unique

What if Yuzuru doesn't speak English anymore when they see in TCC

No problem! I don't totally dislike it, but with the pool of talent we have available, it's just that the bar is really high for us.

If Yuzu doesn't speak English I'm sure Jason is super excited for a chance to practice his Japanese everyday. We hopeless gaijin can always use a little extra renshuu :p.

(I saw a little clip of Sochi - straight after the freeskate, when Jason was last to go and would have obviously been disappointed - still offering a quick but unobtrusive congrats and hug to Yuzu just before the media frenzy really got going, which I thought was nice)...
Where can I find this??

Oh Yuzu, you dont need to be that committed to your cryptid ninja persona, at least give them your photo! Lol~ but really though I wonder why he’s the only one they had to draw. But well, I guess they compensated for that with lore pages.

It’s nice to see Yuzu with someone the same age as him, I don’t think there are that many that are still competing? (I can only think of Jason and Keiji) and according to the korean tweet, their birthdays are only 8 days apart!

I woke up with surprising news :drama: Now I'm so curious what Yuzuru is thinking about these coaching changes, but I don't think he will be interviewed near future. (Japanese media has not reported both coaching changes of Boyang and Jason yet)

Yude, I saw you've posted nice quotes from Yuzu on Boyang and Jason thread. Which reminds me, didn't Yuzu praised Evgenia's consistency before as well? Was it also at Worlds 2017? if not, then GPF 2015 or 2016?

I wonder if they asked for one, the journalist even got a ticket to Continues with Wings which I imagine they had to pull some strings for since tickets seemed to be sold out. I'm guessing it's more a case that they didn't send a photographer with the journalist when she went to Japan, and didn't want to pay for print rights for someone else's photo for the physical magazine.

Kolyada is couple of months younger (they're both 23), but it's true. Many male skaters his age have since retired, or like Keiji, took a little longer to move up in the senior level.

Yes, he highly praised her consistency before but I don't remember when :hopelessness: (anyone?)

Oh right, Kolyada! He has such a baby face I always subconsciously group him with the younger guys.

Re: Jason, I wonder if Yuzu will ever tell him that his name is spelled with a づ not ず

As a true Hanyu fan I just came here to write my 100th reply, no better place to do so than Yuzu's fanfest :luv17:

A little off topic, but with all this talk about the new skaters coming to TCC:

I just tried saying "Cricket Club" five times really fast and I can't do it! :laugh2:
