Yuzuru Hanyu has made his comments through JSF on 13 December:
“I would like to thank so much to the people who have been concerned about my health since CoR. I have been doing everything I could do for Nationals; however, I regret that I will not be able to participate in the competition. I am not sure what is happening in the future, but I will make efforts for pains and restrictions to go away as soon as possible, and come back to the competitions."

Yuzu take your time we will wait for you. :ghug:
It is best that you are in your top form.
All your fans are  for your health.

And to everyone, :console: the overlord youngmaster will comeback soon.

Yuzuru is supposed to rest 3 weeks then rehab 1 month according to the previous report, right?
So, if he's ok by end Jan he can participate in 4CC in Feb as warm up to WC

If he comes to 4CC to break his silver curse that will be the day :yahoo:
(This me psyching myself to be positive)

I am glad he chose to look after his health. When the recent nationals commercials and advertisement has him front and center I was starting to get worried he told JSF of his participation already

Dont get too excited yet, Lol.
How long was from last year? From NHK to Olympics? 2.5, 3 months?
Now 2019 WC starts 20 March, so ard 4 months. 2019 4CC in feb, ard 2.5 months.

I'm sad, because he really doesn't deserve this pain and frustration, but the highs he has experienced - and, skating gods willing, will do again - are more than most, so I guess he would see it as worth it in the end...

Sending him many karmic flowers and wishes for recovery and happiness.

Keep in mind though that this injury is significantly lighter. Yuzuru could still skate his LP and land clean quads on his injured ankle.

But then, in the 2.5~ months for Olympics, he wasn't actually anywhere near healed.

If anything, I would project the recovery timeline to be similar to that of the one post Olympics (hopefully a little shorter). At that time, it was two weeks of rest and three months of rehab. If I recall correctly, he started jumping 3As and quads late June/early July? so another month after the rehab. I counted the days and assuming the recovery goes as expected, the one month after rehab is right on the dates of 4CC. So I guess it's possible but not a sure thing since the recovery can/may be slower than expected.

First, nothing assure injury is lighter this time. No to mention it could take much longer to recover than expected.

Second, no one wants him to skate on injured ankle. He should WD from Worlds too if he isn't healthy by Worlds or/and hasn't enough time to get ready for it. Last injury took him almost 6 months ( from 2017 November to 2018 May) to get fully healed ( not sure we can say it is fully healed bc lutz/ flip still bother him though)

To be fair Orser did say it is lighter injury than last years, Just different side of an ankle so he needs to be more careful. Re lz and flip last time Yuzuru was asked about it (before he added 3F2T in layout) I think it was during ACI , He did not have flip in layout then, he said it still gives him anxiousness and not used "bothering" word. Anyways we shall wait. Japan National announcement will give at least hint .. whether he will be in 4cc team or not.

I don't think we can say for sure anything about sport injuries. Sometimes, athletes just feel pain but no one including doctors, coaches and athletes themselve know what's wrong. On the paper, it could be lighter, but nothing can make sure it will take shorter time to recover in reality.

Personally I don't think we will get any indication from Nats Announcement either. Still have to wait until mid-January imo. He could be in the list for Worlds but withdaw from it later.

I think if he is in 4cc team i (could) be an indication that they are expecting him to heal earlier.. of course he can WD from both, wc and 4cc like last year before Milano .. so everything we talk about here are pure speculations.Brian said he is taking extra care and learned a lot from last injury and he has very good team to take care of him. So let's hope he heals properly and comes back for WC , i am sure he will be very sad if he has to skip the wc in Saitama, where he has won his first world title.

I was forgetting about that :drama: I guess this is only one thing I get a little nervous about in the nationals this year. I think I'm going to prepare for not having him in 4CC just for my self defense.

Please take your time and have good holidays, Yuzuru!

By the way, I heard that JSF would not announce the member of team Japan at the venue this year (I don't know the reason). So probably we'll have to wait for the media reports?

But I thought he typically doesn't attend 4CC anyways so it won't be a surprise if he's not on the roster?

I just thought one more competition prior to WC might be good chance for him to compete to get back the sense of game if he is healthy, but it may be my amateur guess.

Oh, yeah that's true. I was thinking along the line of, if he's not on the 4CC list, let's not panic that it might mean anything about his recovery since he doesn't usually go anyways... or at least that'll be what I'll tell myself to calm down

Hmm does anybody know why?
